Scratch my scores for I made a big error. I thought the line was -3 like it was in another contest I am in . I will redo the results now  because in our gig it was Rams -3 1/2.

Again today good times were had by many on the thread.

I didn't like my review of Pebble Beach, when I re-read it, it sounded less than enthusiastic, which it shouldn't have been so I am re-doing it.  I couldn't find any of my friends to spend the money on the golf, so I took my reluctant wife to the Monterey Peninsula.  I will say, and I am not a scenery guy, the coastline is fantastic.  I was on a mission.  I was going to play my bucket list course once, flail mightily as I do on these bucket list courses, and then play it again to "score."

 

The course, for the first 2.25 holes is ho hum, then you hit your drive on #3 and as walk down the hill you are hit with the ocean and one realizes why they went.  I chose this past week because I knew the course was going to be in excellent shape because they have the tournament this week.  And the greens were fantastic and fast.

 

I was amazed, as a Montana kid, at the amount of money in the area.  I was also amazed as I drove around how close everything was to each other.  It is, as my wife said, Disney World for golfers.

 

The greens are super small, so I was doing a fair bit of chipping and putting, which is generally what my game is anyway.  Which I also think is why my game doesn't travel.  The only bad taste thing about the experience was the first picture.  I, innocently I should mention since the reservation was booked in 2020, asked if we had an oceanview room... no, I was told, but we had been upgraded to the "forest" view instead of the base rate "garden" view.  Well, the top pic is the forest view.

 

I played at 8AM both days, shot a 79 the first day with many up and downs, and then fired an 87 the second day... not many up and downs as you might imagine.

 

Saw seals, sea lions, sea otters, CA condors, and lots of other wildlife.  It was a good experience.

First off, I am 💯 rooting for the Rams. I am a Cali kid, went to school in So Cal blah blah. That said, my take on the Bengals. I respect where they are and the struggle the franchise has gone through. Nice to see a perennial underdog turning it around and reaching the SB! Also be really nice for their fans if they win it all. I mean they live in the Cincinnati area. They could use the excitement! When I checked the weather there this AM, it was in the 30s with an air quality of 113! (LAs air quality currently 73) Maybe ppl don’t talk about the bad air quality in Cincinnati because, well it’s Cincinnati! 😂 Cold, grey, depressing and the air sucks! Yay!! 🙃 Having their team win it all would be nice for them 😊 I can’t say I dislike Joe Burrow, but there is just something about him that is a bit off putting to me. Like when you meet someone and just don’t like them and you can’t really say why. And every time Joe Mixon touches the ball all I see is him punching a 17/18yo college coed in the face as hard as he can with a closed fist and breaking 4 bones in her face. What makes it worse is he was never punished outside of missing some football games! 😡 Hard to root for that. 
At the end of the day it’s just a game, so whatever really! Haha. Here’s to hoping it’s a great game! 🙌🏼

I loved that area. Spent my honeymoon in Monterey, Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. The day trips were just awesome.

The goalie probably banged the dudes girl.  She liked the wider stick he has. 

 So explain to this guy who knows very little about the sport, is the goalie off limits to checking all together, or you just don't check him ever because that is proper sportsmanship in hockey?

Most likely let him out of the sin bin a couple seconds early too.

 

Having only played city league I hated getting snowed, hit in the back of the knee,mush face, etc. After a while it got old, sure, but getting that sweet, sweet payback even if it meant a 5 min major with an early exit t9 the parking lot... was so worth it.

They say if the goalie is playing the puck away from the cage you can hit em, but no one does.  I believe they changed that rule though because a good goalie can change the game so there was no reason not to run em so they are off limits, sort of like a QB, they have protected status.

Now, if you hit a goalie, know you will be fighting shortly thereafter because no one will let you do it without the fight.  You will see scrums develop around the shenanigans G1 is discussing above, which can get to fisticuffs, but a full on check... it's go time.

I was a winger and spent a lot of time in front of the net after leaving the net as a kid.  The stick to the glove over a puck, the snowing, the taps on the pads, all that stuff is meant to rattle the GK, but you will not much of that goes on anymore simply out of respect for the game and the opponent.  Those are akin to a Conrad Dobler bottom of the pile BS he was famous for, but in hockey they used to be out in the open.
