The Urban Meyer saga is delicious.  A friend of mine's wife said, as she was talking about her husband's life as a pro athlete, "The strip club is filled with professionals who just wanted their money, the bars is where his friends got in trouble because the ladies wanted more."  And there you have it Urban, you moron.

 

So in a cougar delight, I am jumping on board with P48 and taking whoever is playing against the Jags.  Tarzan or no, Urban is a distraction.

I also like whatever team is playing the Jets, I just don't trust them.  So give me the other team.

Lastly, the under/over for the Steelers is laughable.  39 points when one score = 6 points.  I heard the Steelers are 4 for 4 on the under.  39 is pretty low, but Von Miller meeting Ben R just doesn't sound too appealing either.  Particularly when BB is hobbled by the hip.  OK, I don't like it, but I have the Steelers going 5 for 5, and I am taking the under.

Super busy this week, so that's all I got.

Have a great week and can't wait to hear about the Blue Bird, Jack White, and the time in the AVL enjoying the sweet smell of Touch's skunk.

I will make my first pick of week 5 a Prime Time Play and take the LA Rams tomorrow night. Why? Because Seattle does not have the defense to control for an entire game LA's score a bunch offense. I also was thinking today about my numerous trips to the southern California beach's to escape the cooking oven heat of the desert back when I lived in Vegas.

Laguna Beach, Seal Beach, and Mission Beach were some of my favorites. The entire state though really has some beautiful views along the coastline and that is shown in the video.

So it's SoCal minus the 2 and change in the Thursday Night game for the basement dweller.

Solo trip down south as no.1 had a friend flying in from N.Y. for a few days to see Asheville for the first time. The month of October is just jammed with tourists in and around Asheville. The fall color change is spectacular here in the mountains. Every room(16 guest rooms and the Bachelor's Quarters above the Men's Locker Room) is booked every night at BFCC for the entire month. The weather has greatly cooled off. It is rather comfortable this week with highs in the upper 60's and low's in the mid 50's.

 

 

Weather Tuesday for my round at Tryon

72* and cloudy with swirling 10 mph winds. A two day rain band was expected to hit our region around 4pm. We figured we would get in possibly 16 holes. It was decided that we would make an effort to play fast. I'm not a slow player but when I am forced to kind of play speedy golf I often suck. Mike, Carl, and I took to the first tee box at 12:15.  

 

Solid start with two pars out of the gate. Botched a chip on 3 and took a bogey 6 on the first par 5. Made par on the next 4 holes. Number 8 the uphill par five, yeah I took my second bogey of the day again on a par 5. Good par on 9 for a two over 38. Respectable yes but in the middle of the front 9 Mike got hot and reeled off 4 birds in a row and stole the front 9 headlines. I don't stand a chance when he is on his game on that golf course. On the back I got a little sloppy. Mind you it was not my driver as for the umpteenth round in a row I was unleashing 220 yard bombs that consistently found the short grass. I made 4 single bogey's on the back side and fired up a 78. I felt ok but I was not in any kind of groove out there. Mike posted a tidy 73.  

It was looking like the rain band was just going to skirt us in Landrum as we concluded our round.

Carl headed home and Mike and I decided to go out for more golf. I shot an 80 in the night cap of the twin bill. So instead of only getting in 16 holes as I had planned I ended up playing for almost 6 hours straight.  

 I had a fine time playing for many hours with Mike down in S. C. this week.  On my 36th hole while standing in the fairway I looked back over my shoulder and saw that a spectacular sunset was taking form and in that sunset were a few slivers of blue sky. It was at this time that I felt most thankful for somehow how avoiding  a rain shortened day of golf.

I found this article very helpful and who doesn't like to hear on occasion Trevino speak. His video's in the article will have me working on a couple of things. 

 

Put your right foot back old guy golfers!

 

I find that my ball position often creeps up in my stance without me conscientiously knowing this is taking place. I suspect this is why I have been hitting more and more thin shots these days with my irons. I will be moving it back this week. I also have to remember to deliver the club face into the ball at the 7 o'clock spot as Lee suggests.

 During my second round at Tryon Mike asked me if I was open to a suggestion to help me in hitting more crisp shots. I told him lay it on me. Mike pretty drastically changed my grip. This will take some practice to feel less foreign, but I will indeed implement it this week. He has my left hand rotated to the right quite a bit. My left hand is now in a much stronger position. Mike than took my right hand and put the base of my right thumb much more on top of the base of my left thumb as I had an unwanted gap in there. Ugh new callus's will be needed as the old one on my left hand is now in the way and causing soreness.   LOL   

So I will be working on that stuff this week.

Speaking for many of us when I ask is everything ok with our brother greenemachine ? I know the new gig has you mighty engulfed and your schedule is all over the place but it has been silent on your end for long enough that I wanted to do a welfare check post.

I told you before you took the gig that keeping up with the math and stats can feel burdensome at times. For now Q and myself will do the Lines, and record keeping and hopefully by freeing you up of that you will have time to pop in and give us your wise takes regarding the action in the NFL and also add some of your zany wit.

Well said about the WFT. I posted two weeks ago (after squeaking by the Gmen and then the D getting embarrassed badly by the Bills) that I am over it. I have been cleansed of my affection to the burgundy and gold. It was the final straw and I now feel better and more free. 😁  How about you post more often you with the keen NFL mind doctoro ? You've been too shy thus far this season my friend. 

 

Oh and nobody likes a damn tease. We want action, we want satisfaction, and we want DOMINANCE !

Mr. Upstate New Yorker and I have started to plan a trip for early November where we both drive a few hours to the middle of NC and meet up for 18.

I also will get to meet the fair maiden that has endured decades of an existence with our crusty Hab's guy. Possibly he has hidden charms that only the ladies see fellas?  🤣

I suspect there's going to be plenty of rib busting laughter involved when the "2 LP's" finally get to hang together.

 

 

 I am very excited as we have been talking about doing this since before covid.   This will happen.
