It can’t be, but it is.

25 million per year play golf in the US and 60 million go bowling.

60 million per year play golf in the world and 120 million go bowling.

Haven’t gone bowling since like ‘92 🤣

They still have that shoe scam where they have thousands of shoes that all kinds of nasty feet been in and people pay to all take their shoes off under one roof?

Anyone remember those awesome old Bud ads "Real Men of Genius"?  They had one called "Mr. Bowling Shoe Giver-Outer" which was one of my favorites  🙂

In general, the documentary is generally unbeatable and it is worth mentioning. I like the way Netflix makes documentaries, how their team collects material. At https://studydriver.com/netflix/ I read some interesting articles about Netflix, the structure of the company and the principles of work.

I remember😆

No doubt! I’m just saying that participation is higher. In the old days of magazines (remember them?), the back cover ad of Golf Digest was more expensive than Vogue magazine.

Golfers are the gold standard of demographics, since we’re filthy rich and spend so much on travel, luxury cars and goods, the finest adult beverages, financial services to manage our vast wealth and are the best looking and smartest people on the planet.

You forgot golfers are also the biggest consumers of Viagra outside of rave goers who get it illegally.  Golfers just pretend everything is all natural...

I was just taking a look at the list of guys involved in the Netflix series and I've gotta say I'm hoping they don't cut the likes of Brooks,DJ,etc

It's my understanding that the Tour has zero editorial control. I can't imagine a scenario where the people making the series cut out the guys at the center of the most dramatic storyline.

I wonder if LIV gave them the same access to players. If not, they would be out of it because there's no footage of them.

Honestly I wouldn't have the slightest idea.  I know the PGA Tour produces all of the media content and that was one of the reasons Bryson went to LIV

That's not totally true. You have to get permission to film on a tournament site, and sometimes they say no. And the LIV contract I saw says they have to get permission to even do an interview that addresses LIV.

This will turn into a 10 piece infomercial for the tour is Jay has a say. And the PIP is now going to be used as a fund to keep guys in the tour. Cantlay you thinking of leaving? Hey here is 8 million in PIP money to stay.

whay they should do is one on both the tour and LIV

The Netflix pga tour show is produced by the same guys who made the F1 show. They had no F1 background and they have no golf background either. They are looking for drama and strife!

Netflix got serious juice so, if they agreed to give the pga tour the scope and scale of publicity that they can deliver to 200MM+ subscribers, Im thinking they “laid down the law” with the tour as far as any “final cut”/editorial authority.

Who knows, they could even talk to the guys who left the tour and put them in the show!

Still amazes me that after years of trying all that F1 needed to break America was a documentary on Netflix. Whilst I don't think that Golf needs to break America it is certainly not contending when it comes to mainstream sports. I have no hope that a documentary will achieve that. Back to F1, Lewis Hamilton...can you adopt him America? The whining, whinging sourpuss is beyond irritating!!

The LIV contracts have some extremely stupid clauses in them.

  • Players required to wear LIV attire when not attending LIV Golf events
  • Players are disallowed from taking any exclusive interviews unless approved by LIV higher-ups
  • Players' requirement to recruit other players to join the tour.

You can keep Hamilton. We would take Leclerc, though. I dig his stoic nature.

 Dumb comparison?

Bowling is indoor sport  so it's year round..

Bowling is cheaper, more for lazy people..

Golf is mostly seasonal..

Bowling is mostly seasonal, too. Winter is peak season and summer is lean for bowling centers.

Many of the bowling allies near me have given up the ghost. Same with the pool halls. I don't much miss the bowling, I do miss the pool halls.

Seen all the F1 episodes

One thing that made it entertaining and not just a boring docuseries was how OPEN and HONEST so many people were.

One big issue with pro golf is how buttoned up everyone always is........ from the commentators to the players and everyone in between.  Its like the whole industry thinks they are still in the 1950s

so lets see if anyone says anything interesting and not just talk about lie angles

Daniel Riccardo F1 driver was in a van on his birthday going to the race singing a song about his scrotum.....

Shows that corporations TRULY dont give a crap about acting all PC.... its all a facade

Teams were allowed to opt out, which Mercedes and Ferrari did the first season. And then only allowed limited access. Max has not been in the last 2 seasons at all and other teams limit access as well.

if you think Jay is going g to allow bad things to be shown about the tour or speak to players that left you are sorely mistaken. As any negative PR gives an advantage to LIV.  I agree that had LIV not arrived on the scene you would have a good show. Now I am significantly more skeptical.
