P790’s Delayed AGAIN!

I ordered a lefty gap wedge directly from TM’s website with the DG105 S300 and had it less than 2 weeks later. I guess it all comes down to your specific components.

I lost my P790 9 iron on the course and put in an order for one a month ago. Seems like I might have to wait another month at least. Frustrating having to play with a 9 iron from a different set. I usually just end up going with a soft 8. Sucks. I'm trying to get a s300 shaft.

Ordered my P790's with project X 5.5 back in Sept.

Multiple dates missed. Last time I was at the shop, 3/23, they called TM and gave me a 4/7 date.

On 4/1 was told it's now 4/19.....I was hoping it was an April fools joke, but been there before....

I don’t understand why some are built and delivered so much quicker than others when components are the same/similar.

Tell me about it. I figured being in the NE i could do without because of the winter, but now I've been to Fla twice and starting up. I feel like if I pull the plug on the order I'd just be on someone else's order list. TM has no idea how to handle their customers!

What shaft?  They have next to none according to the order page.  Forget kbs.  That says august.

Go on their website and build your club. I know the 6.0 says 6/1 availability.  Don’t know about the 5.5

Do any of you guys play with a mixed set with an iron or two that is completely different?

Any order placed thru the dealer channels has the ability to “see” what head, shaft or grip is in stock as well as what would be an expected wait time for back order components to come back in. The problem is the wait time dates are given to TM from their suppliers (ie Golf Pride/ KBS / True Temper / etc.) 

The problem here and with every manufacturer is that these dates keep moving on them. This will not get any better anytime soon.

I ordered p770s may 8th 2021.

Kbs shafts custom fit through a local fitter.  I am still waiting I would cancel the order but I don't want to start the waiting process all over again on a diffrent model. 

Last update was heads delayed until 4/26 shafts delayed until 5/16

@ob1soccer This is a left handed set, ordered on Feb 12. DG105 S and Lamkin Genesis Cord, both of which showed as in stock at the time of order. The heads showed an ETA of Mar 28. The clubs actually  arrived on Mar 24 with no notice of shipment prior to delivery. Build quality is very good.

 

This wasn’t the first time I tried to purchase these however. The original order was last September. After multiple delays, I canceled the order, as sets of stock LH showed as in stock. They weren’t.

 

TM does appear to be generally in a far better place logistically at this point, and hopefully your set arrives in the expected time frame.

Did u demo the DG 105s shafts or have them before? i am going from Modus 105 and briefly tried out the Dynamic gold and liked it alot so ordered it

I really feel bad for such long delays as I had a set of the 1st Gen P790's and really enjoyed them but have moved on since as I could easily play the new ones but no way would I wait as long as some have had to wait. Way too many other brands to choose from.

That’s awesome.
 

Again, I don’t understand how inconsistent order fulfillment/delivery times are with these irons. My fitter/builder is still waiting for the heads - just the heads!

I owned a set of 2019 P790’s with DG105’s. The DG’s will likely feel a bit smoother than the Modus, but the overall weight distribution and flights are similar. IMO the stock VSS in the DG’s works very well indeed with P790’s. I think you’ll likely be pleased with the match. 👍

Thanks for the info. I hit the DG 105 with a different head last week just to check it out and it feels much better then my current Modus 105. Definitely went a little higher and didnt want to draw like the Modus do. Sounds like a winning combo, cant wait until they show up at the door

My builder just called - my sticks are done! I’m going this afternoon to pick them up and hopefully will hit the driver range/course tomorrow.

I hit them today and they felt great. I have them paired with DG 105 R300 shafts and the ball flight was really really nice. I need to dial in the distances over the next few range sessions.

Taylormade site shows some combos as being able to be built this week… is that at all true we think?  KBS Tour shows as an option that is available today, which I find hard to believe. Wanted to get other’s thoughts.

I would trust it.  Two weeks ago I bought the 3 iron for p770s.  It said everything was in stock, and I got it last week.

I ordered a combo set P790 (4-7) & P770 (8-P) with the True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 VSS shafts.  I ordered everything on 4/14/2022 and got everything now on Monday, May 9.  Pretty peppy since I didn't order an exotic shaft.

No way, ridiculous as I would move on, try the Stealth irons are they back ordered as well? If so then its time to look elsewhere like PXG
