Email [email protected] and tell them you need help! Can you tell me more specifically what you're struggling with? Anything consistent about the misses?

I wish I could detail exactly what the issue has been however it’s likely to be mental. I grabbed an old Odyssey DF 550 (original Steve Stricker model) and shot a bogey free 67 a couple days after this post.

However I did go to PGAT in Scottsdale and was pleasantly surprised they had dozens of LAB putters! I ended up buying the DF Broomstick. Not sure if I can get comfortable putting this way but going to give it a shot.

If I can’t get comfortable in 30 days, then I’ll likely trade it in for a Mezz Max.

Thanks for inquiring. Wish I had an answer but im pretty sure it’s the “Indian not the arrows.”

Wish I could help with the fitting. I bought mine from a buddy and it just works.

I bought the DF Broomstick however it doesn’t feel as comfortable as I would’ve hoped.

Everyone I’ve asked about Broomstick putting who loves it said the transition was very easy for them. It doesn’t appear it will be very easy for me. The roll off the face is nice but I have no clue on speed. I enjoy using it in practice but the minute I’m on the golf course with a real putt, it’s just a random guess on pace. That certainly doesn’t feel like the mindset that’s gonna make a lot of putts.

I plan on putting in some serious practice with it to hopefully get comfortable and work out the speed issues. That said, it def hasn’t been “easy” or feel “comfortable” switching to broomstick. In fact quite the opposite. Feels very foreign and like I have to teach myself to putt again (which may not be a bad thing).

I was just at that store last week. I saw the broomstick there and loved that Mezz Max 35” blue head putter. Still there?

My advice is to give the broomstick time. Took me numerous or five session and 3-4 rounds to get used it it and speed control. Put the ball off your left heel and rock your shoulders. Get it down and you will see the ball roll end over end and in the cup. Has been the biggest change to my game in playing over 40 years.

Has anyone had any luck removing a factory installed grip without destroying it?  Just purchased a 1L to try but would prefer it to be a $36 experiment if it doesn't work versus a $72 experiment to have to buy another 1.5.  Thanks!

Tried to remove the grip today. No luck. I basically used a syringe to inject solvent between the grip and the shaft and then twist. I did this along the length of the grip. Didn't budge. Works really well with other grips. Anyone have any other suggestions to remove it without cutting it off?

Link? I can not find anything active.

I did make an eagle and 3 birdies with my MEZZ.1 Max though today in the mid-30s 🙂

I think grip removal is a tough one with the putter grips that have a hard-ish plastic underlisting.  I use a Golfsmith spring rod tool. I am not sure if you can get that one anymore.  The ones they have now are a solid piece of steel and that would prevent what I do with it.

I insert the tool in an inch or so between the grip and the shaft, then add solvent and show the tool down a bit and then roll the handle of the tool over and rotate the tool around the shaft to break the tape bond.

Then I repeat that process until I am at the bottom of the grip. At that point I rotate the grip while holding the putter head and pull it off while rotating it - you may need more solvent.

You will also most like booger up the bottom of the grip a bit but once it is reinstalled you can not see it.

Golfmechanix has it, but they are in the far east and it will take a while to get it.

been stalking the BST for a while now looking for a 34/70-71 mezz/max  -_-

I'm gonna be doing the same as soon as I send in my fitting video.  Every time now that I've picked up a Mezz, I get closer and closer to buying it.  But I really want to spend a few weeks with one before pulling the trigger on a new, custom one.

Thanks for the update, I have had luck in the past using air from a small air compressor to remove grips, but haven't had a chance to try this yet.

Ahhh, didn't know about that, but found a nice one on Classifieds, should be here and in the bag by the weekend!

I'm nervous and excited.  I just hope it works and helps me 10-20 foot range.  I can't BUY a putt from that range lately.

I used an air compressor as well. This grip is very rigid. I'll definitely use air to put on a new one just in case I need to remove it again.

For those interested, I gave them a call and spoke to Anthony.  He said he has the fitting head there which is good for both lefties and righties and then he has the Mezz and DF 2.1 in stock for righties to try and said you're welcome to come and just swing them to feel what they're like.

dang! thanks for calling them. @Yadgih, how did you know Claremont did that? I never saw any LAB putters on the floor there so I had no idea.

I'm not here in any official capacity, but I currently work for L.A.B. Golf. I've assisted Anthony over at Claremont Golf Club, and wanted the people to be aware of that option up in the Portland area.

Our factory is just outside of Eugene. Do you ever make it down this way?

Every so often. I didn't realize the factory was open to customers. Do you do fittings there? As a lefty, going to the factory is appealing cause it's hard to try out things!

Edit: whom I kidding!? I would absolutely take a day off of work and drive down to Eugene if it meant getting fitted for a LAB putter at the LAB headquarters!

I loved my Mezz originally and I fully bought in to/believe in the LAB tech however no matter how many times I did the thumbs off drill or tried pointing the shaft at the hole and all of the tips/tricks that @labgolf has brought up I struggled truly getting my hands out of it and not manipulating the putter.  It was smaller and lighter than I originally thought it would be so I bought the heavy version of the Max hoping that would fix my issue.  The Max is exactly what I thought the original Mezz would be in size and I love the extra weight that the heavy option provided.  This did make it a little easier to keep my hands out of it and just let the putter do its thing but still felt that I wasn't using it to its full potential.

@ajlacombe Was the first one that I saw posting about the 1.L grip and how much he loved that grip on his LAB putters, so I ordered one just to try.  I am stuck in the midwest with golf a long way off on the horizon so I needed something to do.  Received it last week and was installed this weekend.  Immediately all of the things that Sam and others have brought up on this forum on how to keep your hands out of it just made sense.  I was worried about the 3 degrees of forward press but honestly I prefer that now that I have tried both, it really helps lock in your front wrist.  Also, the measurements on the website scared me because it is listed as bigger then a SuperStroke 3.0 which to me is a huge grip.  The key here is that the grip is elliptical and not round so although it is bigger side to side it actually is pretty much the same as the stock 1.5 front to back (or heel to toe when looking at the putter).  I know that since it is quite a bit bigger that will throw some people off but honestly think if anyone is struggling with consistency and feels like they are not getting the full use of the amazing tech behind these putters I would highly suggest giving the 1.L a try.

@Rbsiedsc and @YadgihI stopped by and talked to Anthony at Claremont the other day. Great guy! He's all about LAB putters, which is why carries them. I think he said he had 2 or 3 of them himself. It's a small proshop, but he had 4 or 5 LAB putters (3 mezz, 1 broomstick mezz, and maybe 1 DF) and the fitting putter.

He didn't have any lefties, but I'd done the remote fitting and gave him my specs and he put the fitting putter (DF2.1) to my specs and let me putt around with it for a while. He said he doesn't charge for fittings if you purchase with him and he'll take you out on the practice green with it to really get it dialed in.

I highly recommend him in the Portland area!

Thanks for letting us know on your experience. I’ll keep that in mind if I ever want to try a Mezz. Right now I am very happy with my DF after I played with ball position. Now just need to play some actual rounds with it and see putts falling in the cup.

Pulled the trigger this week on a 45 inch broomstick (I putted broomstick with an old yes putter last year.). Was not expecting such a short turnaround but arrived today.

Feels pretty damn perfect.  Weight perfect.  Like the look.  Ball rolling end over end with line.  Was not expecting to have this much shaft lean - only thing I need to adjust to.  Excited to practice with it and get it out on the course.

I'm interested in these putters, but I don't want to drive 2 hours to see one.

Do an online fitting, buy it, make more putts…. Or then sell it because with no issue as they hold their resale like a Toyota Tacoma.

I've putted with a lot of long putters.  I bought 30 of them for $100 from an old guy that didn't play anymore.  I've bought some here and there on ebay.  I've fooled around them when in stock at the golf store.  Yes, mostly old putters, but still a lot.

The mezz is by far the easiest long putter I have ever used.  I really like the "wings" that allows me to see a proper stroke.  The weight is perfect.  Hitting the toe or heel do not seem to cause massive losses in distance or the ball to be widely off line.  My speed and line have been vastly improved.

The putter is much shorter than the prior ones I'm used to playing so I adapted my stance to lean over the ball more, but I really like it and think its going to be a massive help.
