Nice tournament by Pano, Li, Ruffles and Yin.

 

Nice win by Pano today. Maybe she can find it in her heart to share 10% of her winnings with her caddy ;)?
 

After only 4 events she is now in 2nd place in the Eason race for the card. Pretty good start to her pro career.

Has missed only 3 fairways and 2 greens. Similar to my stats after 3 holes.

Though I think that perhaps the Epson tour pulled a page out of the LPGA book today and put up a "shortened" par 5 to encourage going for it in two.

Alexa Pano froze up on the back nine, she was at 22 under shoulda never come back to -19  but these lesson are what the Epson tour is for.

 

Also give Lucy some exemptions on the LPGA she has a cushion right now.

Hye Jin now surpasses Thitikul in the ROTY race. Will she hang on ? I know Jeeno gets a lot of pub, and rightfully so.

 

However

 

Hye Jin leads the next cream of the crop Korean wave and she is only 22 years old and dominated the KLPGA for years as a teenager, which is very impressive.  The competition over there is more of a challenge than the LET.  Her final year on the KLPGA was not as rewarding when she swept the awards the 2 years prior, which could explain why her rolex ranking is not as high as it should better. 

 

Either way, I expect them to battle it out for years to come. The game is in good hands.

This is what the PGA and LPGA should have done a long time ago.  It is a great concept but I think the PGA was too smug.  If they tried something like this now, it is only because they have the threat from LIV and will need all the allies they can get.

What do we all think of where JYK's game is at?

 

Here is my view, and I confess before I start that I have absolutely no idea what I am talking about. What I am about to see is what I feel, and probably doesn't withstand any scrutiny. I would appreciate any clarity from real golfers.

 

It seems to me that she has a complicated swing. To get back to the ball consistently needs her complete patience and commitment in the swing. So it is not that her swing was good, rather that she was very good in executing it. She had the skill to pull it off, time and time again. Now, for whatever reason, she's developed the pulls. It seems like she pulls it whenever she goes at it a bit early. She has lost a bit of that lag, due to a loss of commitment, which might be injury or confidence related.

 

So does it a minor fix, or something more significant?

 

In my time following LPGA fanatically numerous players have hit poor form just as they reach the No. 1 spot. It's a tough gig!!! Ariya and Sung Hyun are the most dramatic examples. What do we all imagine JYK's fate is for the remainder of this season?

 

BTW, I am a fan. i hope she prevails to some degree. Her putting is still stellar for now, but how many times have we seen poor ball-striking leak into the short game?!

Ebbs and flows of professional golf, she'll be fine, just work through it, plus didn't she just switch to a new coach very recently, could be little things cause of that.  It also matters on the course too, "pulls" off the tee last week not that big of a deal and still good for a top 5 finish but the "pulls" of the tee this week bring doubles or worse into the picture and thus finishing 17th

Yes and no.  Her new coach is her old coach.  Her old coach was So Min Lee a very famous coach in Korea.  Her current coach was a member of So Min Lee's academy and they both were working with JYK.  So Min Lee has apparently focused his attention on his academy in Korea and that meant the "new" coach continued with JYK -- just now as the "head coach" or her sole coach.

That's probably him.  She "brought him to America" . . . but he is looking to open his own golf academy in the States so it makes better sense for JYK to have him become her main coach as he will be more readily accessible to her.  They spent 5 days on the course at Pine Needles in the week leading up to the USWO for practice rounds and to map out her strategy regarding course management.  She also mentioned that she was working on a small hitch that has worked its way into her backswing.

I agree.  Her approach shots haven't been as dialed in as they normally are but she does set the bar real high.  Also her she normally goes on these putting runs where she sinks a bunch of long birdies and that hasn't happened recently.  I think she will shake it off and will be able to win again. 

It's hard because the competition is so good now with the big 4 plus Brooke and the new class of rookies are battling it out week in and week out.  This is exciting stuff.

 

I get that the TV deals were signed a while back but the ladies really deserve more exposure because they are really good.  The amount of money being thrown around on the men's side is crazy while the women get nothing.  It's sad.  Okay rant over.

Has anyone been to an LPGA event for multiple days? As a walking scorer for next week's Women's PGA, I'll be working Tuesday afternoon for the pro-am, Thursday afternoon, and Sunday morning. I'm tempted to go every other day (Wed, Fri, Sat) but I worry about getting burned out.

I've done two days in a row, but not a full event. I generally walk 36 holes a day when I'm attending, but that would be too much over 3+ days. 

 

I'd mix it up. On Friday morning I'd pick a group with my favorites, and follow them for 18. Gives you a chance to see how a player deals with the ebbs and flows of the round. In the afternoon I'd sit near one of the greens and watch the afternoon wave come through, allowing me to see half the field for at least one hole. 

 

On Saturday morning I'd start with one group on the front, follow them for 3 holes, and then drop back to pick up the following group. Repeat that every 3 holes and you get to see multiple groups play 3 holes. If a group doesn't interest you, then let them pass and wait for the foll group.

 

I'd then head over to the 10th to pick up the final groups.

That's a good point. I feel like I want to go Saturday because it'll be post-cut so the play should be higher quality, but I also want to go Friday to see the pressure of players trying to make the cut. I suppose there's nothing wrong with going for the afternoon on Friday and Saturday, and then a full day on Thursday and Sunday (where I'm working half the day).

Came across this video on Youtube.  It is Na Yeon Choi's channel.  She rented a house with Inbee, So Yeon Ryu, and Lee5 for the Palos Verde tournament.  It's nice seeing the players outside the ropes and just hanging out.   DK got an invite to dinner as well.

I don't think there is a female adjace to Greg Norman who wants to see the LPGA burn. 

 

Saudis seem content with their Aramco events and featured big money event on the LET. A lot of LPGA players also donning Aramco as their main sponsor too.
