Reasons to tell your wife when new golf clubs show up at the door?

None whatsoever. Your wife/girlfriend/significant other likely has way more pairs of shoes or purses than you have golf clubs. Do you think she feels guilty when she goes out because she can only wear one pair of shoes or use one purse at a time?

IE: Your wife doesn't buy a lot of things for herself, or you guys are tight on cash, or your stuff is starting to pile and cause a mess... I mean could be a lot. 

 

Maybe take a step back to see why you have that feeling in the first place cause I think it's fine, if you have the means, to buy new stuff to try/have or whatever and don't necessarily need to feel compelled to explain myself. 

Logic...  this might be the most helpful thing I've ever read on the internet.  I need to go take a long hard look in the mirror now.

Simple rule: I don't tell her how many pairs of shoes or purses to buy & she in turn doesn't tell me how many golf items to buy.

My wife feels zero guilt spending thousands on beauty products and services every year. She has her happy place, my clubs are mine. I make no excuses.

My wife chuckles at the somewhat stereotypical purses and shoes stuff, but there is also some truth in there.  Heck, I was more likely when I wore them every day to spend a lot more money than I probably should have on suits, ties and shoes, lol, than she did on her work attire.

 

Honestly, the next time in almost 34 years we have any serious disagreement about how either of us is spending money on anything, will be the first time.

 

Now, the time she painted our bedroom a godawful color while I was away . . . . . . . . . (which I still say was getting even for my foolish thinking when we weren't married very long that our closets needed a good sorting and I made the arbitrary decision that if we hadn't worn something for over a year it wasn't needed and did a "purge" when she was out of town on a work thing ------ DUMB!).  As long as we can laugh about that stuff we're okay.
