 If she could find 15 yards off the tee she could win on any course but I can understand why you wouldn't want to tinker with such a pure action. Maybe revisit her driver set-up but you would expect she and her team go over that thoroughly

@Raving Shanker: I have a golfing buddy called "Shankar" ... you might be related! 🙂 (😬🚫🤬))

One time on the first tee box... Shankar decided to use his 1980s/90s(?)-era  DCI 1-iron(!!)

... Shankar  shanked the tee shot so badly (imagine hitting at a "2.30-2.45pm" clock direction... instead of standard "12 o'clock")

 

... almost beheaded the young Starter/marshall on his first-day on the job (who had been standing slightly ahead of the tee box, on the right-hand-side)

 

... that Starter learnt a valuable lesson that day, i.e. always stand behind the player, never ahead!

Sorry, that's nothing. My worst moment EVER came last Thursday. Two guys I was playing with were talking about Sergio's magic move to avoid swinging over the top, called "pulling the chain". Sergio himself calls it that (Yeah weird, right?). So we all had a few laughs about pulling chains, before I tried to pull the chain myself on my next tee shot, without a practice swing. I had a whiff, or "airy" as we Aussies call it. Anyway, Yani has no problems. I know its all relative, so I'd like to talk her, and tell her not to worry about a damn thing. Ian Baker-Finch too.

I can't see the point if it is not a comeback. Webb is only one year older than Tiger Woods (1 year and 9 days to be precise).

I dunno about that. The 46" driver rule doesn't come into effect until March. The LPGA website is messed up, and only showing stats for the 1st round. She averaged 277 yds, which isn't too shabby. Heck, Nelly averaged 248. Lexi was at 269.

Excellent start to the season by the Rookies. Morgane and Hye Jin are in the top 10. Ayaka, Sophia, Na Rin, Pauline, Amanda, Dewi, Atthaya, and Yae Eun all made it into the weekend.

 

Casey appears to be the only one in the field to miss the cut.

The temperatures are already in the 50’s, players should be able to handle 15-20 mph winds.

It's a short car drive from where she lives. She grew to dislike touring so this was an easy choice if she had a competitive itch that required scratching.

That's 15 to 20 mph steady. Gusts will be up to 35 mph.

Certainly a survival day. It will be interesting to see how much they shorten the course.  If they play over 6600 like days 1 and 2, there will be very few rounds under par.

Does anyone know for a fact which driver Brooke is using? I'm thinking a good on-course reporter would know this and inform their audience.

It's still early, but there are more players over par than under par for the round. A handful are +6 for the round. There are a number at +4 and +5.

Celine Boutier is a proven wind player; she shot 69 in one of the worst conditions at the third round of 2019 Vic Open to win her first championship.  The three runner-ups shot 77, 78 and 74 during that round respectively.

That wind is no joke. The course was already playing tough, and even though they moved the tees up today the wind is still a big factor.

 

I noticed a few drives that were getting no roll. I mean, they were bouncing back. Firm and fast it isn't.

I noticed that they released an updated version of the Android app this morning. Yesterday the app was displaying an error when trying to view the leaderboard.

 

Yeah, it's pretty bad at times. Full scorecards aren't displaying the first two rounds.

Personally, I don't like playing with wind so I am careful what I eat before I play.
