Ayaka Furua and Hye Jin Choi are leading the rookie race; both are -4 and T7.

 

Hye Jin is longer off the tee (256.7 yards), but Ayaka is more accurate (88.1% fairway hit); both have good short games and are good putters.  Of course, Atthaya Thitikul and Pauline Roussin-Bouchard aren't far behind.

 

Hye Jin , Ayaka and Atthaya are rookies in the mode 6ix and Jin Young Ko; they're proven winners.  They all have potential to be inside LPGA's Top-10 like Yuka Saso and Patty Tavatanakit.

BLADES has been playing blades for quite some time.

Back in 2015, I noticed Charley was playing Modus shafts....I believe paired with Titleist blades.

 

In this WITB....I was shocked she is playing the 125 S.....that's fairly stout.

If someone hits a lousy shot on a par 3....I won't tee off near the spot.

If I make a bogey, I normally switch to another ball.

I only like to tee off on par 3's with only broken tees.

If someone makes a birdie they ALWAYS have the honor on the next tee block....teeing off prior is bad JuJu.

Gotta believe Lydia will try to get the group on the clock by the 10th tee....so Kang & Celine will have 9 holes to be frustrated at her antics.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.🤣

Kang can be a slow player at times because she can chirp for a while with Man Bun to discuss the shot or putt....so having shots timed might throw her off???

 

I don't think players outside the final group will win....it will still be a bit chilly and windy.

 

Unfortunately, I think Kang might win....I'm not confident Lydia will have another great day of scrambling.

She’s number one in scrambling so it’s not like it’s a fluke. Plus she doesn’t seem like a slow play type, Kang seems ultra fast in comparison I think

I wonder if there is a less-accomplished player out there that might have the right skills.  Kind of like how Colt Knost is moving up in the broadcast world.  Nobody immediately comes to mind since the fringe players don't get a lot of on air interviews, but, hypotheticially, a player like Kristy McPherson who is coming to the end of her playing career and isn't set for life.

 

If Golf Channel were being run as an actual golf channel instead of an afterthought they presumably would be scouting people like for that role, giving them tryouts.  Morgan Pressel is about the only one I remember lately, but that had to be how they got Karen Stupples (who I like, unlike others in this thread) and Paige MacKenzie (who would be fine if she didn't giggle so doggone much).

As I've said before....I've always thought Grace Park would be ideal.

She's articulate and well spoken...she has also done some TV work in S. Korea.

BUT

I doubt she's want a FT gig at GC....wants to spend time with her family in S. Korea.

Grace is attractive too....which is key for TV work.

Have you ever noticed most successful female TV news anchors are attractive...it's not by accident.

 

Grace also fits the WOKE, diversity and inclusion element as an Asian...especially on a tour with lots of Asian and Korean networks pay a lot for the GC feed.

Me too.  And when her Father died, she struggled for so long & almost gave up golf, he meant that much to her.  But she fought through it and became what was expected of her finally, & she isn't looking back.

I have the third round on the TV as a warmup for later and it's raising all sorts of questions.

 

What is TV's obsession with showing Lydia eating things on the golf course?  This time it looked like a rice cake, but I swear I've seen more shots of Lydia eating fruit over the years than I have of any player outside the 25 biggest names hitting golf shots.

 

Is her caddie really shorter than Lydia?  Sure looks like it on TV.

 

For all I read about the horrible weather it didn't really look bad on TV.  A little cool, a little breezy.  It wasn't summer-day-in-Scotland bad, let alone who-put-this-November-tournament-in-New Jersey bad.
