How’s the Orange 1K vs the Ventus? Anyone compared both? I’ve got a Ventus black and very interested in PO 1K.

I had the Ventus Black as my gamer for the better part of 1.5 years.  When I keep a shaft for that long, it means it's really good and fits my swing.  Numbers off trackman were also excellent as well.  The TPO 1K has more feel than the Black and I would say launch/spin are very similar.  I'm 1-2 mph faster ball speed wise withe TPO 1K but I haven't had it long enough to say whether it's more accurate than the Black.

I am trying to figure out if my 1K orange is tipped or not.  Does anyone have any measurements from tip graphics to try to confirm?

I am going to be getting a new untipped TPO 1K 60tx in a day or two and will give you one once I get it if someone doesn’t before

Ordered a 60x from Peoples on Thursday and shipped Friday. Will be comparing it to my Ventus TR. Ordered it to play 45” instead of the stock 45.75”. Should I be looking at adding 3” (6 sw points) of lead tape to counter the CB of the shaft and lost length?

I would keep adding 2 gram strips of tape until it feels right to you.  That's what I did, but found that no tape works just as well.

And how’s that going for you? Have you tried it untipped then decided to tip or just you knew you’re going to need it. I’m more of a untip person and tip if necessary or get a stiffer shaft.

just played my first round and a range session day prior and it confirms my range session that this shaft is a beast. Although I had some wayward ones it’s to be expected but the good was really good

I know you didn't direct your question to me, but I'll answer.  I've had mine since the first day it was released and it's still in my bag, lol.  The TPO 1K just feels right.  Not too many shafts feel right to me.  For example, the Tensei 1K and Diamana PD both worked for me numbers wise, but I could never get comfortable with the feel.  The TPO 1K feels very linear which is what I like for driver yet doesn't feel overly stiff or harsh like the PD did.  I can work the ball both ways on command and the numbers on Mevo are great with a slight increase in ball speed.  Dispersion is just as good as the Ventus Black.  If I had a gripe, it would be that it's not quite as anti-left/stable as the PD, but that's ok.  I haven't been this happy about a shaft since the Ventus Black which was in my bag for 1.5 years.

I totally concur whilst I haven’t tried the PD or original 1k I actually get along with this more than VB. Did you tip your by chance? At this moment I don’t feel I personally need it the 60tx tip is pretty robust imo

I’ve always tipped driver an inch and my miss is a hook, so anything to help there. So far so good, this shaft helps keep the ball flight down and feels stouter than I expected it to. Im playing the 60tx and would probably have been stiff enough if left untipped.

Half inch for my TPO 1K.  It's already very tip stiff.  I usually tip my drivers half to full inch.

Yeah on the same boat there. Trying prevent the drop kick left to Sally’s house. I probably would of tipped like VB but always like trying it stock first and like you mentioned the tip is pretty robust.

Just fitted into the PO 1K 60-TX in a TSi3. Was around 5-7 mph faster BS on trackman vs my 917 w/ Kiyoshi black, the Kiyoshi was still a contender in the new heads but this was quicker for me. Super stable shaft and basically didn’t see a ball turn over. Can’t wait to get it outside.

+5-7 mph BS due to shaft alone. What is reason for that?

What's your miss? For me I seem to have a better tempo/fewer left misses when I play a 70 gram shaft. As for the flex, I have a X and TX CK Pro Orange in the 70 weight class. TX feels stiffer in the tip as to be expected and a littler stiffer in the butt. I would assume the 1K feeling is similar between the flexes but ymmv.

Meh, I have a two way miss. Hook if I get handsy, slice if early extension/over the top. My swing speed is around 110

Honestly, the TX flex isn't much stiffer than the X.  The only difference you may see is slightly more spin with the X flex.

How does the TPO 1k compare to the Hzrdus Smoke Yellow?

Feels much stiffer especially in the tip section.  I found the TPO 1K to be low launch while the Smoke Yellow was more mid for me.  About 2* difference.

Phizzy, have you tried or compared the new RDX Smoke Green against Ventus Black? I kind of need that new RDX!

I have not.  I have a friend who works at the local golf store that I see at the local 24 hour fitness.  He loves it.  He feels like it's the updated version of the Smoke Green Hulk.

Matt over at Plugged In Golf did a review of the TPO 1K. I’m pretty sure it’s OK to post links there, right? Here it is.

I tend to pay attention to Matt because he has about the same speed I do, and his description of feels when he tests shafts typically connects pretty well with what I feel. His gamer is the White 1K, and he says the Orange swingweights about 2 pts lighter and promotes a small draw because of how he reacted to the CB weight shift vs. the White being neutral/fade-biased.

@phizzy30 does his description pretty much match what you’ve been feeling? I really like the White and have an Orange on the way that I’m looking forward to trying.

I would agree if you were to just swap the same head without any modifications.

however if you were to even out the swingweight of the counterbalance you’ve lost then imo plays pretty similar. I play a 198g head along with a length of 46” to add the loss of swingweight and then some and I think phizzy plays a heavier head over 200g which is at least 3 SW

Wasn't just head alone, I was seeing an increase with the Kiyoshi in the TSi3 as well, but ultimately the TPO 1K was straighter for me and slightly quicker. It was mainly strike point, at least indoors. I was missing heel side more with my gamer, realistically I think I'll see more like 2-3 mph more outside. I've checked my ball speed outside with my PRGR and it was more in that range.
