2022 Cobra Forged Tec Irons

So not only is it not scrapped, but they are also bringing back the DBM finish, love it!

They’re great irons. Cobra’s line gets overlooked among the hollow heads. The 2022 Forged Tec was a big upgrade over the earlier hollow version. Very consistent, nice ball speed across the face and they feel as good as the Srixon ZX4 MKII.

Look great but the face is going to rust...that's apparently the quality issues they were speaking of.

I played the 2020 Forged Tec for a while, and other than struggling with the GW a bit ( more me than club ) I really liked them.

I bought the 2020 version and quickly moved them as they seemed so bulky, but a lot of people liked them. You might love the 2022 version. To me they improved quite a bit, from size to feel to performance. Much sleeker, more nimble club. Still very easy to play.

Grabbed a set of these for an absolute steal and after testing vs my Apex 21 theyre going straight in the bag for further testing. Not sure if I'm getting along better with the CTL 110's vs the DG105's that I've been playing but these irons are phenomenal.

 

The census I got from all the reviews was that they were low spin and launch due to the lofts and tech but not the case for me. Again maybe it's the shaft but my launch is higher by 3* on average and spin 500RPM+ on average with the FT's vs my Apex 21's (I was fairly low previously) - not to mention 5yds further in distance.

 

They really remind me of the Rogue Pro irons everyone has been loving as sleepers. Just a little longer blade length. Also very P770-esque. Everyone keeps comparing these to the P790 or Apex21 or 225's but IMO these have less offset and thinner toplines than all of those models - just longer blade length by a smidge.

 

The feel and the face reminds me of them big time. Definitely not super soft or forged feeling - just enough so - but the ball speed, spin, and height retention on off-center hits is insanely good with these FT's. The face feels a little clicky and 'one piece' but I'm okay with that personally.

 

My miss is a thin shot and they all just go pretty much within 5yds of a well struck shot and stay on line.

 

Dispersion is great as well. Front-to-back much better than my Apex 21 given the LM data I looked at from today. I can put feel aside if they keep performing like this.

 

We'll see how it goes. Now that these are over a year old and due to the depreciation with Cobra gear I would say definitely try a set if you've been on the fence.

Does anyone know if the forged tec x can be bent 2 degrees strong with no issue?  I checked cobras website and the max they bend the loft is 1 degree.
