What tour players move the most laterally?

Can't we have like more I got a secret threads which are way more fun but since you're asking and I'm waiting for my lunch to be served the list of swayers is really long except maybe today....too long a list really.   Curtis of course makes it, as does George Knudson, but my personal favorite whose head drop would make Ochoa and Fleetwood look like a wannabe punks would have got to be the Queen B, the human ball smasher that even biker clubs fear live and in the flesh, Laura Davies.

Rory for sure. Who else?

Move laterally when?  I never thought of Rory as some sort of big lateral mover.  If you mean shift into the right side at beginning of backswing before "recentering", well Monte and AMG guys have been talking about this for a year.  Rory does it superbly.

Club golf: "you're swaying too much"

Tour golf: "huge weight transfer.  That's gold."

That is the rub, when and why shift laterally is important. Shifting too much or too early or too late are all issues and the fix isn't no shift at all. This is where golfers inherently have issues with improving, if too much of something is bad, then none of it must be good, which is rarely the case.

Might I add that after Monte pointed this out to me and I started shifting back to the left after the start of my backswing, my "rhythm" or whatever you want to call it is way better.  When I sych everything right, sometimes I feel and look like a real golfer.    I used to be so much of a backwing, then downswing guy, no flow at all and no concept of how to start the transition.   This almost makes it automatic as part of the one motion, just like yes, you are throwing a pitch in baseball.  And, the crazy thing, unlike some things that I think are just not possible athletically for a lot of people, just about anyone could do this physically.  It's definitely more of a understanding the concept thing more than some great athletic talent preventing you from doing it.

yea, I agree. Rory isn't much of a slider, he's actually a model for less slide. He has alot of up and down though.

Yes, he has a great recentering move getting his weight transferred to front side.  Is that what the OP is asking and referring to as far as players that move a lot "laterally?"

Don’t know.  But Tyler has stated that on average with driver he see pros with driver moving their lower bOdy 4-5 inches forward from setup and upper 3-4.   So some less and some more.    I know he has said he has seen pros move their lower body more than 6 inches forward.   Of course there is a lessor move to the right in the backswing. No names mentioned.

back in 2019-2020 amg posted quite a few clips showing the shifts.
And this on recentering  https://www.instagram.com/p/CFmbpmKjoZu/?hl=en  Btw recentering only gets you back  to setup by top of backswing  or maybe slightly ahead and there is still a lot of shift forward afterward by p5.

Kinda the spectrum of shifts (backswings shifts are much smaller and amg didn’t start showing the compete shifts in these clips until 2020 and they have tailed off in a lot in posting these.

I don't see anything noticeably lateral here either where I'd single Curtis out.   I don't think I understand what posters are referring to exactly given the examples people are giving.

There is plenty of lateral there, its just paired with rotation. There is both lateral movement of the upper body as well as the center of the pelvis. Use the guy's head directly behind him as a gauge, at address his head is on his ear, he moves away from the target a bit in the back swing, and by the time he is finished the guy's head is completely hiding.

You basically can't get low point in front of the ball and pressure to the lead side without some lateral element.

You don’t see Tour players swaying much these days. But when I picked up the game seriously in the late 80s swaying was encouraged unless it became a hip slide. It’s a natural move for a lot of people when you try to shift your weight, especially if you’re not that flexible.

oh definitely there is shift forward in all good golf swings, you don't want to be hitting off your back foot. Rory is like AMG's poster boy for re-centering without shifting hips too much. AMG spends half with lesson time with all the am's that come to their place reducing the excess sliding of the hips with their attempts at "recentering". Hogan seemed to slide more with his hips vs. upper body.

Yes, it's getting a little weight to the right to start and then recentering back like you will find with the majority of PGA players.  If that's what we're saying, then there are 100s of examples we can give.  What Curtis does is definitley in the range of "normal" and not some sort of outlier lateral movement.

Your current world number 1 Scottie "Mr. Excitement" Scheffler has a pretty noticeable sway.

He actually stays surprisingly centered going back, but then loads up on the front side as much or more than anyone. The lateral shift is subtle though, you have to watch closely...

Yep, exactly like the comment said.  Is this what we're talking about regarding players moving a lot laterally?  Like I said above, you're going to see something similar with a lot of PGA players.  Per the comment on the Tiger IG:

Move off early and center. I mean you kinda have to love it 🙂
