Rory with another 3 wood now? Thought he was only between the OG Sim and the stealth depending on what he wanted for the course

Seems like every week he’s got a different wedge set up and it’s not like he’s just rotating his 60 depending on turf conditions.

Oh wow so he went from Stealth 15* w/Ventus Black 8x to Tensei 1K 80TX and now back to his SIM 2 w/Kai'li 80TX.  He must be getting better better numbers with this setup and better consistency.

Seems like a smart move on the wedge bend. 60 degree and 13 degree bounce from a 58/11. I heard it rained a ton so the soft conditions are helped by the extra bounce and they should be throwing darts.

You’d think. Kai’li launched a little higher for me but is a solid choice. The black in the fairway is solid so it’s be interesting to see all the data differences

Interesting changes for sure, especially since the SIM2 seemed to last a super short time in his bag after what seemed like pretty lukewarm results with it in tournaments.

Yeah, he’s searching for something super particular because overall he’s hit both the sim and stealth well so who really knows.

I seem to recall a handful of frustrated reactions with the Stealth though, similar to the SIM2, plus the Stealth has the baggage of that 18th hole water ball in Dubai. I feel like i've seen several tournaments where he starts with the newer club, hits a few bad shots, then finishes the week back with the OG SIM. Definitely searching though, and i'd curious for what specifically.

Dubai looks like a bad swing but you make a good point. I know when it comes to Taylormade fairways I’ve cycled through a bunch and gave up but I don’t have a million tour heads at my disposal so you think something would fit whatever he’s looking for

Same, this latest generation of titanium "V-steel" fairways are freakin' bombers but are tough to control at times. Aggressively low CG and more forward CG being the reason IMO. It makes sense that there are so many of the tour only HL versions in use.

He plays 4 wedges and 3 wedges.  Has played 50-54-60 52-58, 54-60 plus more… which all depends on his gaps.
Man he is driver / wedge most of the time and this makes it easy.
When he can he adds in a 3i or for a while even tat hybrid we all thought was a joke.

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.
Treat people the way you want to be treated

Honestly, the Stealth 3 metal didn't give me better numbers or dispersion compared to the OG SIM I have now.  It's just a smaller profile head.  Rory's a great driver of the ball so I'm actually confused as to why he's having such a hard time getting this 3 metal dialed in.

It's an interesting one. I wouldn't be surprised if its the same problem that lots of people have with 3-woods to be honest, especially the types that have swings so tailor made (lol) for hitting up from the inside on a driver. It's the first club that needs to make a biggish move away from that approach and I wouldn't be surprised if Rory has a bit of spin issue with them. I felt like some of his best 3w moments were actually with the M6 which obviously had a very different profile and a higher CG. I think he tried the SIM2 MAX for a minute but that didn't stick, so who knows! 😆

You would think with all the options they could find something that sticks. I don’t know if he’s done a stealth 3hl like Scottie.

I know he likes to play his driver and 3 metal with the head cranked way open.  However, he hits the ball very high so I don't know if a hl head would work for him.

I understand that and I myself hit it high and play a 3hl so that was my thought behind it. With that being said Scottie if I remember right his 3hl is 15.5ish range and open
