I think my disconnect with last nights game is two fold.  1.  I can’t name a single player outside McCarthy.  And I remember that because it’s a famous name.  And he has a serial killer grin all the time while trying to talk the demons down 🤣.  And I’d agree that’s somewhat a me problem . How on earth does he survive the season ?   I’ve seen small guys like that try to play a million times and they end up broken in half. Michigan was on national TV 9 times this year in the regular season ... If anyone missed seeing them play, it's 100 percent on them.

 

Honestly, your problem with the 2023 Wolverines is the exact issue people have with the 1972 Dolphins ... Boring, non-descript, weak schedule. Only Michigan won big, where as Miami had a lot of close games. The fact remains, they beat everybody on their schedule, won when it counted, and will go down in sports history.

 

Now, if you plugged Florida State into your Georgia argument, we would have agreed completely. The only problem is, Alabama should have gotten kicked out of the playoff.

 

Big picture, in following years, if college sports still exist and the schools and athletes don't wreck the machine, this won't be an argument. Although, I think the case could've been made for Iowa to be the #12 seed this year 😁

I’d have kicked out Alabama AND Texas.  In favor of Georgia and FSU in this dream scenario.  Put mich against FSU and Washington vs UGA.  
 

yes. I’m certain mich was on TV.  But I didn’t consciously not watch them.  It probably went like this “ mich vs unlv or Minnesota or Perdue is on.  Or….. ole miss is playing LSU “.   The TV remote knows the way.  It’s not a conscious snub. It’s just not a ball game.    I wouldn’t be caught dead watching Alabama beat up on south Louisiana state ( is that even a real team 🤣) either.  Matchups win the day in my house.  And it’s a voted decision. I don’t even usually have the tv remote.  My wife and son watch as much as I do.  Mich had 2 games all regular season that had a chance.  Penn state and OSU.  I don’t remember who was playing at the same time as those games. But I assure you we didn’t watch ice skating instead of those games. There had to be something better to have attracted our attention.

I had no idea the spread , or whatever.  So point taken.  But I still don’t care or think that way.  I hadn’t ever seen Washington play until the Texas game, and apparently Texas made their offense loook good.  I’ll also admit to another blunder. I thought the Washington QB won the heisman 🤣.  Turns out someone else did.  I still haven’t looked up who.  I’ve been back and forth checking on the animals , letting water out of the pool , and trying to get started on an arc.   Since the earth is apparently flooding again today.  I don’t recall ever seeing this much rain.  Lucy the wonder dog is wrapped up in a blanket after our last venture to the big barn.  She insists on supervising my every move.  But she paid  this time with being soaked.  So she had to get the old rub down on the porch before doing back in.  Now it’s nap time 😉

The uniforms , the hype.  Ugh.  I remember it from the basketball days of the 90s.  And that’s likely the root of my dislike.  they’re like the Clemson of the north.  
 

Hope you’re staying dry.  Here it doesn’t look like there will be any golf for months.  Or at least weeks.  So months total.  ( I’m 3 weeks from my last round now ) We have another flood on Friday.  Then Highs in the low 40s after that.  I’m not sure when we turned into a place with this crap weather. But it’s a depressing reality at the moment.

Not sure if you’re calling me a hater. I’m definitely not a Michigan “hater”. I’ve actually met Jim and thought he was a really cool guy. I’m just going by the info that’s out there that I’ve read. For me it’s black & white. Did you or did you not break a rule? It’s not do other teams do it, it’s not did they win bcs of the cheating, it’s did they break a rule? And if they did there should be consequences. And what will those consequences be 🤷🏼‍♂️

I originally heard they broke a Big10 rule, but what they did was not strictly illegal under NCAA rules. Has that changed?

There are multiple violations being investigated. There are recruiting, coaching and sign stealing violations being investigated.

It’s been a looong time and I was young, but this remind me of a Ronnie Lott situ back in the day. (btw, Lott was arguably one of the fiercest, hardest hitting safeties in NFL history. Guy had the tip of his finger amputated as opposed to missing games) He was asked why he wasn’t all “muscled up” like some other players. He told the reporter “I’m a football player, not a bodybuilder”.

WOW.  I agree it’s going to ruin it ( my opinion).   I can’t wrap my mind around where it’s going.  I mean is it going to turn into one huge Instagram commercial after another.  As in if a player is seen on camera , will it be just an endless commercial ?  Either for products or themselves ?

There hasn't been much these last few weeks coming from the fans who support a university known as Ohio State. It's been nice. Oh wait, OSU people were at the forefront of complaining about the sign stealing by Michigan. They needed something to chirp about because their red and silver team fizzled in the end and did not make the Playoffs. 

Michigan beat the Buckeyes,

then they beat mighty Alabama,

and finished off their triple play of being on top in big games by winning the National Championship in strong fashion.

Its very “money ball” basically…

 

He used some deep talent analysis to find guys that were overlooked but he knew were coachable into his system. And he could keep from jumping to the draft to soon.

interesting read above for sure.  Does remind me of Clemson and Dabo even more.  Seems like a huge gamble though and I’m not sure how many coaches can pull this off. If they lose one time , the curtain falls down and it’s over.  But maybe that’s how it is anyway ?

Then why ask me ?  This is the problem. .  Don’t want to hear it. Don’t ask.  This is how I get revved up.  You can go back and look , it’s always in response , im rarely an attacker. to the question I’ll add.  The rant comes from folks talking to me as if my original opinion was crazy.  Unfounded. Maybe even a troll job.  Neither is true.  But that’s how it was refuted.  Now. After the fact , coaches , media etc who vote , seem to agree with what I said.  And if they don’t know the most on the topic. .  Who does ?  I didn’t search out that info. Didn’t give it another thought. But ye olde Google feed sent the headlines my way.  Each time I clicked. Read. Laughed. Copied the link and posted it. @bscinstnctdirectly , because it was part of a productive conversation we were having.  Mainly for fun.  
 

All because of being talked to like I’m crazy.  All the while , and several openly admitted after , that they at least partially agreed , and fully understood what I was saying , even though at the time they pretend to not , instead leaning to their own biases while calling me “ Homer “ etc. which I’m cool with so long as everyone can admit their own.  Surprise. They didn’t.  Some even quip  after the fact about their team being a 12th seed for next years playoff. Knowing full well their team isn’t top 25.  🤣…but hey. I’m sure the coaches and the press know less than those here.
