All these dollar figures are in 'ish' amounts :(

Cobra L4VX with Whiteboard 63X KWOK'D - $600ish

Sonartec GS Tour 3 wood with LE Fuji Kamo 660 KWOK'D - $400ish

Adams Hybrid - $150ish

Scratch SB-1 irons 4-PW w/2 wedges fully custom and KWOK'D... - $3,000ish

T.P. Mills Handmade Blade - $1,000

Ping Freestyle Bag - $100

Headcovers and other misc. - $100

Total: $5,350

While much of this was aquired this year...I don't have a history of changing things dramatically very often. I played the same irons for about 6 years...and the ones previous to them for close to 10. With one exception of a recent set that is being replaced by my dream irons, I tend to play them for a while. My old Ping Tisi driver was in my bag forever as well! And until this year...my gamer putter was a Titleist 8802 style that I have used for about 12-15 years.

I decided to rededicate myself to the game after a couple of year lay off...and figured I'd treat myself! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I know I'm going to be sick when I add this up, but here goes anyway:

Cleveland driver with reshaft: $309

Two Callaway BB FW's with reshafts: $425

Cobra hybrid: $119

Ping irons 5I-PW: $550 (paid for with Blackjack winnings)

Three Cleveland wedges: $270

2-ball putter: $169 (gift from wife)

Ping bag: $149 (gift from wife)

Footjoy shoes: $99

Rangefinder with carrying case: $419 (gift from wife)

Total Cost = $2,509

On the plus side, I've purchased quite a bit over the past 3-4 years and do not think I'll need to buy any new clubs for at least two more years. (Unless of course, they are stolen or I break some!) Also, since I do my research beforehand and test the clubs before I buy them, I've had very good luck purchasing clubs. I can't recall buying a club and then a month later selling it or trading it because I was struggling with it. The only thing kind of aggravating when buying clubs is paying decent $$$ for the club then having to reshaft immediately because the stock shaft stinks. I thought the stock shafts on the Callaway FW's were poor and the shaft on the Cleveland driver was decent but I thought performance would be quite a bit better with a reshaft. (It was!) Now, It's good to see that many new drivers are available with, say, UST or Aldila shafts. Even if one has to pay about $50 for an upgrade, it is certainly less costly than reshafting with a premium shaft.

Here's my bag. I'll never pay anything close to retail for clubs.

Driver: Infiniti Propulsion 440 with Graffaloy Pro Launch Blue X-Stiff $65 (Won the head in club builder retirement auction for 2.50, then paid 60 something to get it shafted) ($200 Retail)

Hybrid: Cobra Baffler Pro 20 degree $50 used on Ebay ($150 Retail)

Irons: Mizuno MP33 $250. Got them when I worked at Golf Galaxy. They were a trade-in and only 3 of them had been hit. ($800 Retail)

Wedges: Vokey 52 Degree and Spin Milled 56 Degree $90 ($230 Retail)

Putter: Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport Beach $0 (Given to me as a gift) ($250 Retail)

Bag: Nike Stand Bag $50 ($100 retail, gotta love Golf Galaxy Employee Discount)

Grips: Golf Pride Multicompund $80 (Retail $120)

Totals: $585 Paid / $1850 Retail

This doesn't include differences between money I made or lost selling old clubs to get these. Total also doesn't include my backup Throwback Ping TISI driver that I have about $60 in (free head due to paint damage. Sanded it down to give it a brushed aluminum look and then got it reshafted). I also know I'm at 12 clubs and I'm happy with that. The only club I would consider adding is a 16 degree hybrid, but on the courses I play, there are very few circumstances I'd actually use it.
