If LIV had brought back say...Ben Curtis and he was putting up 81s like this - the same exactly people defending AK right now would be *screaming* about how this shouldnt be job welfare and how he was wasting everyones time etc. 

 

22 shots off the lead after 2 rounds. This is his 4th event, I honestly at this point have a hard time saying if this is getting better or worse.

 

AKs stats on LIV are not...ideal.

 

54th - Fairways Hit

55th - Birdies

53rd - Scrambling

55th - GIR

52nd - Driving Distance

 

The only category hes doing well in is Putting (4th).

I am surprised this is his first round in the 80's. I watch his first tournament back and his proximity from the hole compare to the leaders was out site.

 

Now if anyone thought he was going to have immediate success they never played tournament golf at any high level. This is a long process. He should be playing in every qualifier even local events (state opens). There is no easy way. If you think golf is Easy why did Rory not play the weekend at the Masters? Guys on the senior tour did!

 

Tournament golf is very hard and requires a lot of work!!

Isn't that pretty much the case for every player they've bought? Less than half a million views for entire events and having to give away tickets will continue to mean no sponsors so AK is simply riding the bandwagon. Can't blame someone for taking free money to hang out on the course with no need to perform.

Taking 12 years off is too long it seems. Talented but everyone else took no time off and its still tough get to the winners circle. Maybe the insurance clause payoff is a drop in the bucket for a little publicity and they both benefit and AK can enter back into golf even if it’s just for a season of Liv. I’m guessing Liv owns his upcoming documentary as well.

At this point after shooting 81 today he's only humiliating himself.  The only reason you do that is because you need the money.

Didn’t say I’m blaming him at all. But Kim is a quite different situation than the rest and highlights the real undercurrent.

Nice scorecard but it doesn't necesarily show where they actually tee off from.  It could be from the tips tee markers yes but tees could also be moved up too.  But based on the overall scoring the course is definitely not playing easy.

Isnt "easy" or not relative to the rest of the field? He's 26 strokes out of the lead at the beginning of the third round and 16 strokes out of 30th place which is E. I wouldn't say there is anything good to take from that.

No….course rating is 77+ from the back tees.  4 is unlikely to shoot 80.

The Feherty interview is probably the only good thing to come out of this weird marriage between AK and LIV.

The most disappointing thing for me in watching in the 20-30 minute stretches that I do is how bad he and Foltz are now. Two guys I used to really enjoy that are just reading straight off the talking points now. Really disappointing. Foltz saying "these guys are just out here to win, they dont care about the money" is an all timer.

I really do hope for his sake mentally he does not keep putting up 80s out there. I dont care who you are, that isnt great for your psyche.

 

Clearly he had some stuff going on and needed the money so - I'm glad he got it. Whether Norman had to talk him into playing or not, I really dont care. I'll rely on people here to give me the bullet points when the documentary comes out. But after 4 events, I think we've seen what we're going to see.

 

Honest question - what does success *realistically* look like at this point? He's DFL by 6 strokes this week. IMO he cant go anywhere else because he has zero hope of making a cut. Is he just going to play out the string this year, bank the money and move on with life? LIV cant have him out there like this for another year after this one. Maybe his insurance was paid off so he plays out this year and gets back to grinding it out next year? 

 

I honestly have no idea what realistic success looks like for him.
