Viral? I know this will be hard to believe but ten years ago people could leave their houses without recording themselves 24/7 or Tweeting about every person who sneezed in the wrong direction and offended them in some manner. I know it might be hard for some people to comprehend that life used to be like that.

This exactly. We all know he didn't actually throw his clubs in the closet to collect dust for 12 years and only pull them out 3 months ago. It's one thing to go out and play a Sunday round every few weeks and pound some balls on the range occasionally but actually practicing and playing golf with the idea of preparing for competition is way different. I think that is what he was referring to when he said he's only been playing for the last 3 months.
