... Gotta love a guy that wasn't even born in 85 naming McMahon the #1 QB in Bears history and leaves Cutler, the all time passing leader, completely off the top 10 list. 🤣

I think McMahon only had to get 10 points on the board per game to win that year.  The defense was so good.

... Watching that year was insane. Held the high scoring Patriots offense to -19yds in the first half of the SB LOL. While McMahon didn't have to do much with Payton in the backfield and that defense, when they really needed him he always came through.

... Amen. I am not sure I have ever seen so many individually great players on defense play together as a team like they did. Soooo many in Chicago compare teams to the 85 Bears, which is just silly as it was a perfect storm and will never be repeated. Even with a complete idiot as a head coach. That was Buddy Ryans SB.

Not a bad looking hat.

Ironic you mentioned a Women's event. We are having our annual Women's Invitational Friday. It is a large event with Women from all over the beach. So for the rest of us mortals the course is closed Friday. Some of the guys moan every year but me I shrug it off. It is a big money maker for the course. But ironically it is supposed to be our coolest day lately. If it is as nice as they say it will be I may just take the little short game set in the small moonlite bag and try to walk 9 at the little Par 3 course at the edge of Dirty Myrtle

Or course not! But I'll never complain about photos of Nelly. 🙂

It's the interesting thing with shaft profiles these days - it's not even really about simple "flex" anymore as we kinda understood it back in the day ... but how it works as a whole. Being the general nerd I am, it's fun to get into the tech specs and try to understand what's going on.

I'd love to work in that biz.

I used to clown on dad all the time back in the day for his "senior" flex shafts in his Yonex driver and 3W - which I actually still have (I think me and Stu have talked about them ADXs at some point)! But knowing what I know now, I totally wonder why he even thought those were right. I'm the same age if not a bit older than he was when we were playing all the time; and he was a damn solid player. I oughta take them over to the range some day and see what happens.

Yonex made some good stuff and like Honma they made their own shafts in house to their specs and their QC was tight. Of course their stuff was expensive but you pay for 1st class quality. Yeah I say take them and try them you may surprise yourself

... Right there with you and shafts have always been a weakness for me. John Oldenburg developed the original NV and I him treated to a round of golf so I got to pick his brain. He would send me every new shaft he developed and some that never made it to retail. You may remember the Prototype and at the time it had the stiffest tip of any shaft. The green NV Xtreme had a titanium weave to reduce torque over the entire length of the shaft. Just took this picture Monday and forgot to include the Kai Li Blue in my Aerojet. I was all in when the Hot Tour set up was going up one flex and installing the Graphite Design YS7 in the 905 bore thru but drilling it out at the hosel and only inserting it 1.5" for some extra kick, and have been fascinated by shafts every since then.

... When I worked with the Callaway Tour rep, I was the last fitting of the day and he kept me for over an hour hitting virtually every shaft he had. I was swimming well and he liked how smooth my swing was and didn't have a ton of experience fitting Ams with under a 100mph swing. It was awesome and hitting some shafts that had too stiff or too soft a tip was really interesting. They didn't all turn out like I would have guessed. But we narrowed it down to the Ventus Red, AD-IZ and Tensei Blue AV.

Shafts1.jpeg.b2529795ff060acaa63ced128798ca53.jpeg

Sorta reminds me of WRXer @cardoustie. When he came down here and played golf with me and my buds he had like 4 different shafts with adaptors in his bag for his driver. When we played that Friday it was not crowded he experimented with quite a few different ones that day. IMHO he hit all of them good. Do not let anyone fool you he is one heck of a stick especially at his age

Back last month when we were in SF for a bit, we'd gone out for a walk around SF. I said to Hoss "Man, I need to stop into a CVS or something. My shoelaces are falling apart."

"Your shoelaces? On your worn out Chucks?"

"Yeah. Lotta walking."

"How much did that watch cost?"

"Why?"

"You're in torn up pants, shoes that are falling apart, the same shirt you've been wearing for 5 days ... "

"Look man, I just need some shoelaces."

Really guys? Wow.

It's actually Steve Hartman's piece on a man with ALS.

It's a shame some of you take such stands.

Your loss. It was a very touching story about an afflicted man who's friends came together to restore his forgotten about Mach 1. He was incapable of doing anything with his treasured high school car because of his disease, but in the end they (his friends)  got his classic mustang restored and on the road and he went for a ride in it. 🙂

If a persons voice makes your upchuck reflex kick in.  You avoid it.  It’s that simple.  I was a cbs watcher until they axed Charlie Rose.  Axing Charlie wasn’t the end of my viewing. But when they put her in his spot it was. And the reason is the hypocrisy.  I’m not just talking out of my rear.  I watched daily.  And im unhappy with their decision.  So I don’t listen to her. It’s truly that simple.  Clicking on content that she’s connected to fills her pocket , even if one drop at a time. I can’t do it.  And I must add. That was my knee jerk reaction then.  She’s proven my gut correct through the last few years as I’ve caught enough of her opinion hit pieces that my wife may or may not be listening to , to yell at the TV and go back outside.

I am sorry for the rant. And I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t brought up again.  You asked in a way.  So there it is.

O'Donnell won the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Breaking News Coverage for the Dateline NBC story "DC In Crisis," which aired on the night of September 11, 2001.[20]

She won an Emmy as part of NBC News' Election Night coverage team in 2008 for the category Outstanding Live Coverage of a Breaking News Story – Long Form.[21] She was also awarded an Emmy in 2018 for her six-month investigation and report on "Sexual Assault in the Air Force Academy" for CBS This Morning in the category Outstanding Investigative Report in a Newscast. That same year, this story was given an honorable mention from the White House Correspondents' Association for the Edgar Allan Poe Award.[22]

In 1984 the FCC eased the rules on logging content and amount of time necessary per broadcast on content.  This is from the NYT in '84, "In defending the action, Mr. Fowler said that ''what's a stake here is whether the Government trusts the commom man to make up his own mind about what to watch or not watch.''

Well, Jordan Klepper has shown how that worked out.  Mr. Fowler forgot the cardinal rule, 50% of the people in the world are below average.  And they are roaring with a vengeance now.

When trying to be “safe” and talking about cars doesn’t work… Pretty sure we all know exactly where you stand on such things BC. Sometimes ya just need to know when to let it go brutha. 😉

... Great post. 👍  The news used to be a loss leader for the networks when you needed 3 verifiable sources to run any story and it was on for 30 minutes. But of course 'Murica and money figured out if you don't use any verifiable source you can tell folks what they want to hear and you make a fortune.

"Despite losing the ratings crown to *** in recent weeks, *** News is still a profit machine. The cable division saw a 1 percent gain in revenue, to $1.49 billion, and a 3 percent increase in pretax profit, to $571 million. Advertising increased 31 percent, to $441 million."

In a nutshell,  now it’s mainly just used to control the narratives and ppls minds. Same as SM. Most ppl are sheep and easily manipulated on both sides of the line.

I briefly mentioned my mid life crisis and the 6-7 years in school to get my teacher's license and M.Ed.  I took a PoliSci course called Media and Politics.

The big takeaways were, 1. the dramatic change in news coverage then to now is then they reported what happened.  Today they report what might happen and the possible outcomes, not the actual news event they are covering.  2.  People are more interested in human interest stories rather than politics and economics.  3.  In the 60's news was designed to be consumed by a person with an 8th grade education, today news is meant to be consumed by individuals with an 8th grade education.  4.  Much of the change is based on the constant and multiple sources of polling which is a very interesting science (too expansive to go into) but the best polls to consume at the time (2010'ish) were the WaPo and the Times, and the most even handed newspaper based on studies was... and this is going to shock you, The Christian Science Monitor.
