Safest Way to Conduct a Trade?

Buy the seller, bottom line. When I do trades I always look for immense positive feedback, then do the following:

- Agree on a 48 hour window to ship products to one another

- Provide tracking

- Confirm when received

At the end of the day, any trade takes some measure of faith, which is why you "buy the seller" not the product itself.

I agree I look for activity and feedback on the site and at the end of the day I do not trade with people if I cannot stomach the loss of the item. If they need the item that badly then they need it more than I do. If your spidey sense is going off I would just find another trade partner. That being said so far I have done quite a few trades with a variety of new/old members and they have all gone great.

Just my opinion, but... assuming it's a somewhat "equal trade" meaning you're trading away approximately $200 worth of equipment/goods and getting approximately $200 worth of equipment/goods in return...

I would suggest you each pay the other $200 using PayPal. It may cost you a few bucks in fees, but at least it offers you some assurances should one person not hold up their end of the bargain.

Yep, that's what I've always recommended if you don't trust the other member enough.  That way you're essentially just buying each other's items and if they don't ship you just open a dispute.

Yup , this is the only way to trade securely.  Specifically on GolfWRX, I'll give trader the option to send to me first if they are concerned about paying the fees.  I've got good feedback here so sometimes they are willing.  If not, exchange paypal with each other for the valued amount.

The above replies are all really good from an advice standpoint.  If you don't feel that it's necessary to pay each other a sum of an equal trade, then the only other MUST is to adequately insure the packages on each side. Above all else, trade with a reputable member.  Shipping companies can make mistakes, but good members rarely do.

I've done several trades here and will do them as long as the other person's feedback is positive and has enough entries in it.  Never had any issue.  I personally wouldn't do the exchange money thing thru paypal.  If someone doesn't feel comfortable trading with me, then move on and do the deal elsewhere.  But that's just me.

If I don't trust the other member enough I don't trade. Period.

This I agree with. I only trade with members who have extensive feedback and previous trade history…. of course it depends on the value of the item….I can sometimes be a little more flexible for a low cost item.

but insuring the item is a must for me. I agree on a replacement price with the other party and we insure for that amount.

on pirateship, insurance is only $0.80 per $100….. it’s a good risk reward.

The reality is that no member is going to risk their whole reputation to rip you off if they have a long positive history. No one will transact with them ever again or they will be banned.

And always  communicate through the DM feature in case the mods need to get involved

also…. If you do trade with some, it’s really important to leave feedback so the rest of the community can be informed, whether it be positive or negative.
