A $550 Fairway Wood? Seems Desperate, Ping

Hmmm, lots of tech in that LST 3 wood. And it's for those who really want that tech.

Let's say you live in Windsor, Ontario (across the river from Detroit) you still pay $809 for a club ? It's more miles from Phoenix to NYC than Windsor. So the govt. (Customs) charges 3-$400 for you to get that club ? UnF'nbelievable.

Yeah we use different currencies.

So this club in USD is about $610 right now depending on exchange rate. Probably have the duty taxes in that $60 difference.

Certain materials cost more than others and the LST has a lot of titanium. Like building a house out of wood and siding vs brick/stone.

But as we know with Ping they won't release it if the performance isn't better.

But they released the 425 line which wasn't any better than 410 line up 🙂

$550 for a fairway is steep especially with discounts being less prevalent, but plenty of people will be fine with dishing out the money. Plus they will eventually be discounted.

849 Canadian for a driver without a premium shaft?  We’ve jumped the shark I fear

of course years ago I paid $500 cDn for TiSi tec fairways and the r510tp driver … but with upgraded shafts

The $550 price  is crazy  but Ping is making that price point from a position of power, not desperation.  People who want the tech  (or Tec as it is in the Ping world) will pay the price.  I will may buy one after the G435 stuff comes out in 2 years. The only difference between the Max FW and the LST  (aside from the obvious lower-spinning design) is the use of titanium.  The benefits of titanium in smaller club heads is minimal according to Tom Wishon.  I still think the TiSi Tec fw's were (and are fantastic).  The Rapture FW were good too but a litle too large.  I have a G430 max 3 wood and g425 7  wood and love them both.

The $550 for a fairway is ludicrous. With that said I own one haha. Being a ping guy and with trade ins, gift cards, it was well worth it to me. But I can definitely see peoples issue with the price point.

The MSRP for the OP's TSR3 with ventus red driver combo is ~$900 and their TSR2 with ventus red 3W is ~$650.

The OP doth protest too much, methinks.

I never said I wouldn't buy one. 😉

I bought a Titleist 904F with Speeder shaft off eBay for $60 and it performs as well if not better than a $600 fairway wood.

Lol so great

I just bought one from a play it again for $11. Took it out last nite and was pleasantly surprised.

Equipment is just getting way too expensive, Look at the Great Big Bertha irons and Titleist Concept irons $450-$499 per iron. People are willing to pay that price as I'm sure almost everyone is guilty of paying more money for something that wasn't worth the asking price.

$550 for a three wood with unremarkable shaft offerings that looks very much the same as the previous model that you can still buy new for $250. Seems like the same recipe that killed the i59 line, and to some extent Blueprint. The clubs are good, but not special enough to justify these luxury-brand prices.

Did you start a thread for the TM Stealth 2 Plus as well???

Might be in the minority here, but I'd happily pay that for a fairway if the performance warranted it. I have a Stealth+ 3w that has been in my bag since launch and I have no reason to take it out any time soon regardless of what else may be out there. I also think it says something that a lot of tour players play older fairway woods - when they find a fairway that works, they leave it be.

As always the price of golf equipment has risen to new levels, but you're not obligated to purchase any of it. In most cases, grab last year's model and save quite a bit of money. I wish we didn't live in a world where this is normal, but here we are.

By definition it is not ludicrous if you are willing to pay it

No, it’s getting too long and forgiving.  Haven’t you been paying attention?  We need to roll back the tech…but not so much the prices. 😉
