Half inch.  VF and UB are very similar in tip stiffness, IMO.

X or TX? Alvin from GD said I might be better off playing 7TX straight in instead of a 7X tipped an inch like my UB but who knows

  •  💎💎💎 8* Paradym playing at 7*, ADUB 7X, tipped 1," VF7TX tipped .5"
  • Qi Tour 5W at 16.5, HZRDUS 80g 6.5, playing 43.25"

Mine's TX.  X is around 275 CPM while TX is around 285 CPM.

I wonder which GD shaft resembles the NV Green (NXT) shaft. I am using 75-S for 13.5 BRNR and looking into the GD shaft. It has a softer tip than the mid and butt.

for the guys who have tested the 5X, what was your swing speed and how did it do for you?

swing 110 and wondering if I should try 5X or 6X

thanks

Justin Thomas is 5 mph faster than you and was in the 5X. That said it probably will all depend on your swing and delivery.

Everyone swings a little different but I am a little quicker and go comfortably with 6X. I’d say at 110, 6X could be great for you.

JT back in the ZF and looked to be driving it well, I wonder if he will bring out the VF again at any point.. he is maybe getting some of his old feels and positions back and enjoying the ZF because of that

Have you hit vs TR blue?

Yes.  The biggest difference between the two is handle stiffness and where you can feel the kick.  VF feels more linear whereas I can feel more of a kick in the mid section of the TR Blue.  However, VF feels a little softer in the handle.

Anybody playing the VF with a heavier head, like Ping? I bought a 5S (tipped 1/2”) for my TSR2 but am switching to Ping 10k. Going to sell the Titleist-tipped one and reorder but not sure if I should consider going up in weight or flex as the Ping heads are heavier.

Just change the rear weight on the ping to get the swing weight you want.

I had my Paradym TD hot melted to 201 grams to get the swing weight up to D5.

Biggest bombshell of the thread right here. GD almost never comes out with new hyb shafts and if this is their 'low/low' a lot of people will love it in hybrid.

Has anyone done testing with the X vs TX? I've gone through the thread and have seen the comments regarding GD playing soft to flex, but it's interesting that the guys on tour have all played/tested the X variants rather than TX in the VF? Especially when they some come from Diamana profiles in X or TX.

I'm 118-120SS - play a TR red 7x tipped an inch in driver, 8X black tipped an inch in 3W, but am curious by all the VF in X flex's out there if they're "soft".

I have an apex UW in DI 7X tipped which I love suprisingly, so trying to chase the GD feel

This still will be unique to your swing vs another persons.

But i am between 114-118 swing speed and have two 6x shafts, one tipped an inch and one 1/2 inch tipped and do not have an issue in dispersion or "loose".

Whether it was Ventus Black, or Ventus Red (tipped heavy) or Diamana GT tipped, i've always needed a stiff butt/tip section for how i swing.

When I tested the VF I went 6tx tipped 1 inch and I play a ventus black 8x tipped 1 inch in a 3 wood. I haven’t tested the x vs tx but the TX didn’t feel stout but GD smooth even tipped. I moved away from it but feel wise, I don’t know if there is better out there but I just liked my gamer more.

That's good to know, how was it compared to your 8X in feel? I think the OG black 8x profile feels slightly different for some reason than say a 6x.

Glad to hear it's still smooth, thats honestly what I'm looking for this season in a 7. Everyone seems to go a flex up in the VF on this forum, but seeing everyone on tour play X is interesting. Same goes for Ian from TXG granted he's not quite as fast.

Most of the guys on tour play the VF in X, but Zander Lombard has the 7TX and 8TX(tour only, sigh) in driver and 3 metal.  I feel like TX is a bit more stable and spins a little less compared to X.

The black 6x I don’t get along with but love the 8x. The 6 and 8 feel different to me and I think the 8x is perfect.

It’s softer in the handle compared to the black but that’s not a bad thing at all. VF is smoother feeling over the black and the handle is more active but I don’t mind that in a driver shaft. I really liked it but my Kai’li 60tx(testing 70tx) is just perfect for me.

I am in love with this shaft!

I won't post numbers and stats etc. because I'm still putting my swing together, but I am shocked at just how good it is.

It's that good I've ordered it for my Qi10 too

Wondering if the X is that much smoother with a good tempo because of this?

Yea I didn't get along with the 6X, couldn't close face. 8x is a bomber.

VF sounds really nice. Will either order 7tx or X tipped an inch or so
