Do you like sub 60 degree golf?

I do enjoy the cooler weather in the fall, but my back likes 80+ better. Fall in NC is still warm, but less humid. I do not enjoy anything under 50, too cold.

The regular group I play with is in the first 5 tee times waiting out the frost delay. We walk when the temps are reliably in the 80s or lower. Low temps with low humidity and the sun shining makes for some beautiful days in the southwest high desert.

45 degrees with 70% humidity is bone chilling cold that hurts more every year, 35 degrees and 6% humidity I see the northerners out there in shorts, I'm not that tolerant but quarter zip golf is the best golf.

I agree that quarter zip golf and walking when below 80 is the best golf.  Just a few weeks away for us here in the southeast.

Hot take:  If there is a known/consistent frost delay, people who make tee times before 10:00 should lose their tee time.

60 degrees? Mid to high 20s.. oh, yea you guys use F rather than the far more sensible Celcius.  Never mind me.  What's 60 in real money?

Came here to say the same thing... 60 is 15 degrees in our money, so basically our summer 😄

playing in sub 5 degrees is standard over here. 60F would be a TREAT.

I'd agree, but I feel like the responsibility should be on the course to block out the times they know are unplayable. Thankfully here it's not consistently cold enough to become a major issue.

We have had an unseasonably warm early fall in Ottawa. This morning start of round was 12*C (54*F) warming up to 21*C (70*F) by end of round. To me, this is perfect. Pants and polo with no sweater and comfortable all the way. A little chilly at the start but not bad. Didn't have to get extra hydration from the cart girl, the 1 bottle was enough. Only had to cycle 2 gloves.

For gofers that carry, a bit cooler, at least to start is easier to manage.

For sure.  If the course is open then im going out.  If it is dry, the cold isnt an issue with some decent layering.  Ive played in 0 degrees (32F) in Scotland to 50 degrees (122F) in Abu Dhabi.  As you say, sub 60F is just normal.

Got a round tomorrow. High of 8C (46F) with some rain showers . 15C (59F) on Monday

The rule of three applies. Wind rain and cold. As long as its only two of the three you can generally dress for it.

Trip to golf town tonight and look for a pair of cobra mitts. They make all the difference. Lost my mitts this spring. Laid them on the ground while hitting and walked away.

When there is only a 6 month season anything above freezing is playable.

I'm pretty much good 50F - 90F. Can do 45 - 95 for part of a round, depending on other variables (wind, rain, etc.). I can (and have) played in 30 and 100, but I play golf for fun, and that just really isn't much fun.

Older I get, the less I like extremes. This is golf, an outdoor sport, so weather will always be part of things, and playing in varied conditions is fundamental to the game. But I also have druthers. And sunny, 65 - 85, w/ low to moderate humidity is my sweet spot.

Clear winter day high in mid to upper 30s with sun or misty low fog is for me as nice of golf weather as a perfect summer day.

Agreed. I normally walk and on a sunny  day high 30s, all I need are pants and a medium weight jacket and I'm set. One thing I did start to do more recently as I've been using a push cart more is wear wind proof mittens. It's so much more enjoyable to have warm hands. Bad shots just feel like normal bad shots rather than the bone shattering ones I used to have.

I am also a Maine golfer (member at Waterville Country Club). I have a block time on Sunday morning at 7 am, and I am definitely not a fan of cold golf. "Sub 60 degrees" is OK if it means 55+, but I definitely don't enjoy teeing off at 43 degrees at all. I handle the heat well though, and it rarely gets hot enough in Maine by 11 am to ever be uncomfortable. 1-2 rounds a year maybe.

Liked cooler temperature golf a lot more back when I was younger and had moee distance to spare. 53 year old back that has seen a lot of wear from stick and racket sports keeps me well-informed as to the temperature without the need for a thermometer ...

Going to be 52* when I tee off in 2 hours, here in Hilton Head SC and warm 20* or so during my round. Can't wait to see who I'm paired with and how "bundled" they are. (I'm on vaca from mass, so this coolness won't bother me).

I don't really like cold weather so much and neither does my body....but for now, I am living where the weather isn't great and have to make the best of it.  What is wonderful about cool weather golf is it gets the bro-golf partiers doing something else and pace of play is much better.

Agree with the hot take here.  Courses have to be responsible and smart about this.  I live in western PA.  If I make a tee time for Dec 22 at 10:20 AM, delaying me for 3 hours for the bozos who thought their 7:30 AM tee times were going to stick is absolute craziness.

If I ran a course in a cold climate, I would not accept tee times before the course is typically playable in a given month or 2-week period.  I'd make that first 2 to 3 hours walk-ons only -- I'll get you out if the course is playable, but the guy with the 10:30 tee time doesn't get kicked to 1P so I can "catch up."
