2024 Bridgestone Balls?

Interesting I would have assumed the opposite.  This is why you need to test, after all everyones swing is different...

I think the softer cover of XS and increased spin creates a lower launch for me. I’ve seen the same result on some robot tests as well.

Unfortunately I did not. However, as soon as they are available I will buy some to test. As I said earlier, the ‘22 BX is a unicorn for me in that I get the distance of an “x” type ball without the hard clicky sound and feel.

I played the BXS (too spinny off driver) and ProV1 (just a little too soft with the putter) so I think the BX may be my unicorn as well 🤞🏻

I could play either the BX or XS, but the BX is 6-8yds longer off the driver plus it’s peak height off the irons is better for me.

Which ball would be the higher flight the BX or BXS?

For me BX flew higher off driver and irons than BXS.   Anyone have feedback on 2024 BX yet?

Sorry for the delay in getting this up dudes, the weather has been brutal in the Carolina’s the past few weeks. I’ve been playing the new ball on and off to try to get a feel for it but its been so wet, I wanted to have a day where I could play both side by side before I posted. Today was super windy and extremely wet, but I could get out on the course by myself to play both. I played both balls for 9, yellow is the ‘22 and white is the ‘24. In the three pictures, the bottom one is after hole 3, I’m not sure if it’s cut from a wedge I hit or an imperfection in the ball that I didn’t notice before but you can see dirt collecting in it. The other 2 are different angles of the balls after 9 holes each.

Overall, I’ll be honest, I don’t notice a gigantic difference in the balls in play which is a fantastic thing in my opinion.
Putting- I think the new ball might feel a touch softer putting but not too dissimilar from the ‘22.

Short game - No huge difference noticed but with some more rounds to judge I think the ‘24 might have a little bit more spin than the ‘22. That could be a great thing.
Irons - This is a weird one, I felt like the ‘22 ball had more distance on a few iron shots. The wind was swirling so that could’ve played a role in it, but there were a few shots that I thought I hit pretty well with both and the ‘22 seemed to be 5-10 yards farther. The real weird one for me was a downhill, dog leg right par 4 with the wind at my back and slightly left to right. I hit a great 3 iron twice that felt like absolutely identical swings to me, but the ‘22 ball was a good 15 yard farther. I don’t have THE most consistent swing but man that was a weird one for me.

Driver/woods - I noticed NO difference in trajectory or really distance either. The best test hole I had was up hill and slightly out of the wind, with the wind in my face; I hit 5 wood and had the most similar swings I think I could take. The ‘24 ball was about 5 yards longer and had slightly less cut but they were both in an absolutely perfect window for me.

I think after the round the ‘24 ball definitely looks more beaten up than the ‘22, that might be something to keep an eye on if they have made a major change to the cover. The ‘22 ball has always been super durable for me and the ‘22 ball today looks absolutely perfect while the ‘24 definitely has some noticeable marks on it. Some of you scratch guys might be able to notice more of a difference than me, but I think I would have to see numbers on a launch monitor to really tell a difference. I love the ‘22 ball and will likely still stock up on some just in case, but so far I think Bridgestone managed to not ruin a great thing, I will be happy with the new ball I think.

Not sure if someone else mentioned it yet but my rep came by a while ago and explained the new printing. It's called "Mindset" and the goal of each color/ring is to help focus on a different part, like setting up, visualizing the shot, then hitting it. Just a little reminder to help stay focused. As a staffer, I told him to only send me balls with those on it lol.

the same issue as Snell Prime series balls.  I wonder if they come from the same factory as both balls are made of TPU.

I saw the Maple Hills deal as well.   Before I pulled the trigger I went to e-bay.  A local resident had three dozen RX's for $75.  Was able to avoid the shipping as well with local pickup.  I went through the golf testing drill 18 months ago.   I like Pro V's but not the price.  My back-up ball is the Maxfli Tour.  For me all the balls are similar off the tee.  What I like about the RX and Tour balls is the extra 4-5 yards on the iron play.  The Pro V's and RX's feel slightly better off the putter.

I'll pick up more Bridgestone RX's if the price is anywhere close to $75.

how are you measuring this? Just visual? are you talking about the peak or the window in which the ball leaves the club?

Launch monitor and visual. On the visual side more peak height than window.

which one of these balls, the BX or BXS are typically straighter off the tee? I can get hooky with the Srixon XV and Diamond, plus looking forward to the mindset stamping. Their ball fitting said I should fit into the XS.

Neither. The very slight difference in spin off the driver between theses balls wouldn’t result in any negligible difference in left to right dispersion.

  • 3 weeks later...

After playing 18 holes and testing against TP5X, Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X, I'm left feeling meh about the new BX.  I was most excited about this release as it's been my go to ball for two years.  I liked CSX bit like BX more.

BX was shorter off the driver than the other three balls I tested, but had more green side spin than all except CTX.  It felt slightly clicker than prior gen BX but this is not a terrible thing.  It still has that cool sort of plastic feeling off irons, which is addicting.  Great with irons as to be expected.  High and good dispersion.  Felt similar to CTX off putter and softer than TP5X.  I think I need more time with it to make a final judgement call, but for now I'm underwhelmed.  I got some off the cool "mindset" BX on order so I'll def be testing more.  But, I needed BX to be longer off the tee.  It's also possible I had a dud?!  Be very curious what others think about the new BX
