I was looking at that one until I found a smart wool version at REI on accident.  Its a merino wool blend that keeps you very warm!  It's also $210 VS the $260 RLX version.

 

I've always been a big fan of merino wool in the winter.

I've owned several iterations of that jacket over the years and love it.  Not suprisingly, Greyson has some similiar pieces if you're looking for something with a bit more style.   Both great, but wait for the sales! (Trendy Golf has a RLX sale now, greyson has some good ones on black friday).

I've had several of these in the past. The combination of the vest in front with the wool arms is fantastic. Vest keeps your warm, arms keep you surprisingly warm while offering extreme flexibility and hardly any restriction. Top notch items. Wore over a simple long sleeve polo walking Sand Valley in 45* conditions and was more than fine. Has even found it's way into my regular fall/winter jacket.

This piece has been in the RLX line for what seems like 15-20 years... Always a solid choice and timeless styling.

How's the arms hold up?

I always worry wool material like this will pill or pull easily.

I love the looks of these and have some from PM but I feel they aren’t warm at all.  Better for 50 degree days not anything colder.

Ha, I hear ya. I've had my current one for 4-5 years. There's some pilling and a mark or two, but I also haven't babied it, if that makes any sense. Thrown in and out of cart baskets, trunks, stuffed in and out of golf bags, etc. Worn casually I'd think it would hold up fine.

I haven't had any issues with pilling on the arms.  The first one I bought the front of it got dogged out a little but I wore that thing everywhere for a couple of years.  

 

I have some greyson hoodies that pilled up pretty bad but nothing one of those sweater shavers couldn't handle.  Search on Amazon, well worth it!

I used to wear this piece until I found the Kjus retention jacket. Lighter, just as warm. Packs up into bag easier for me if weather warms up, only thing they may be a knock is it’s more technical looking but has form and function to me

How's the fit? Kjus seems to be for skinny guys only? Or no?

Definitely runs small.  But they have larger sizes.  I think my rain gear from them is a 3x   I am 230lbs

I'm 6'3" and pretty slim, I go XL in Kjus and wouldn't consider smaller for length issues.  The XL fits great, and I'm an XL in nothing else if that helps.

Sunice Hamilton is a great value for a similar style. Poly vs Wool in the sleeves but has the puffer/quilted panel in the back as well.

Sunice also makes a wonderful product, I have a few of their vests.

I have the PM version - it’s the Merge Elite Hybrid.  The difference is the sleeves on the PM are not merino wool, so the jacket is not as warm.  I use it on days where temps will be 50+.

how is the fit of the GFore? Why is it your favorite?

Fit is similar to Peter Millar and RLX - the non-puffer material is more flexible than the other two so actually playing golf in it is easier.  It's also a bit thicker than the other two so warmer as well.
