Because this worked so well for Zach Johnson and the us ryder cup….

 

not having Niemann and cam smith is a huge blow surely . But possibly offset since USA likely not using liv players either . 
 

Wonder if this played into no Canadians going to liv yet.

The President’s Cup is a PGA Tour product - not really Weir’s decision and not something new in terms of what to expect for the President’s Cup.  Nothing to do with Canadians not going to LIV. Basically new but completely old news.

Taylor Gooch just tweeted that Rahm, DJ, Bryson, Nieman, & Adrian Meronk didn’t play in the 2003 Masters so there needs to be an asterisk next to Weir’s name.

I wish the Canada Cup...I mean the World Cup...I mean the WGC World Cup was still around.  That event meant something even into the late 90s.  

Presidents Cup feels too forced with Asian, N. American (ex. USA), SA, RSA and Australian players all jumbled together. At least for me... 

I'll still watch though. LOL!

As a Kiwi I would be happy if the Presidents cup went away as well. Apart from the international team hardly ever being competitive it's just money grab and IMO hardly worth watching.

I sense this is more of a PGATour decision much less Weir. Even though this is basically a PGATour "signature" event, I can't imagine any captain not wanting the best players to be on his team.

Ryder Cup on the American side is owned and run by the PGA of America , not the PGA Tour.  So Jay has no say who plays.  
The PGA Tour does own the PC, so they control who plays.

Smith had the choice to play in the last Pres Cup and instead decided to sign with LIV right before, it's not a priority for him clearly. 

 

Niemann is the one guy I do wish they had on the team, but likely gonna have to make do without him unless so miracle merger happens between PIF and PGAT before then.

LOL!.....Someone need to send Taylor Gooch a message, that the only way an asterisk will apply to a Major win is.... if and when the PGAT boycotts the Majors.
