2022 Bridgestone BX am I losing anything playing this ball?

I was able to load up on 2022 Bridgestone BX on sale so I’ve decided to play them this year but of course I’m now second guessing myself when I read the reviews on the new balls but honestly am I really losing anything by playing the 2022?

I would say no. It’s been my gamer since it was released. I do like the new BX and new CTX, but the ‘22 BX is a very good golf ball that does everything well.

I had 2.5 dozen of the '22. Was trying to decide whether to jump on the 4 for 3 deal on the '24. I found a pack of the 3 dozen '22 for $100 so I bought them.

I have a '24 that I found on the course and I hit it Sunday. More than half yhe drives were 1.5 or 1.51 smash tho....so I'm going to compare tomorrow.

What is your handicap?  If you are above + range then no, you aren't losing anything playing a previous model ball, as long as it's properties meet your needs.  The changes from year to year are so minimal that only the highest level players can detect a difference on the course.

Bridgestone Tour BX is a very solid performer. I've played Bridgestone for past 7-8 years because they perform at or near the the level of the Pro V1 and if you're patient you can often find them for $10-20 less per dozen. Driver distance is very good. If your a long driver I don't think +/- 2-3 yards matters too much so I don't get caught up on the ultimate long distance ball debate. I am a long hitter and I'm more than satisfied with driver distance of this ball. I think the distance off irons and wedges on this ball is outstanding. Spins just fine, not too much, not too little, but amount of spin desired sure varies from player to player. I played about 125 rounds last year and go through about 8-10 dozen new balls per year and I exclusively play the same ball every round, so over the past 2 seasons I have close to 200 rounds with the Bridgestone Tour BX and I'm very happy with it. Still have about 6 dozen new stocked up. Went ahead and did the buy 3 get 1 free promo for the new 2024 ball version. I'm fine if it essentially performs the same as the 2022 model. 2022 model was definitely an upgrade than the 2016, 2018 previous B330/TourBX versions.

Not really.  However, if you really wanna switch things up or experiment, do yourself a favor and pick up a box of CTX.  Higher ball speeds than the current BX for me while still maintaining a good launch window and spin with irons for me.  Spins plenty from 80 yards in as well.  Cally really knocked it outta the park this year with the CTX.

Would love to see a solid test if the 22 vs 24 BX and the ProV1X but this deal might make me stick with the ‘22 BX for a bit…

FYI Rock Bottom Golf has them new but in bulk packaging for $25 per dozen.

https://www.rockbottomgolf.com/balls/new-golf-balls/bridgestone-tour-b-x-golf-balls-12-ball/

They also have them in regular packaging for $40 per but with the 20% St. P day discount coupon (lucky) it's $32 per dozen.

I did a driver test yesterday. I seem to be seeing slightly higher launch and higher spin with the '24. I bought that same 3 dozen pack this week and now have almost 5 dozen of the '22. I don't have a prov1x to test.

I see basically the same smash with each. If I wanted to go to a lower lofted driver then it looks like I could get better results from the '24. I may do that test after the tournament season ends in october. If ai smoke max launches higher and spins less than paradym then I could go 9 degree in it and gain ballspeed while keeping launch and spin where they are right now.

Yes, your sanity. Both balls are excellent, and it's all about the head space. If you put the 22s in the sleeves for the 24s , would you know ? If a tree fell in the woods and no one was there to hear it fall, did it ? Remember , you can tune a guitar, but you can't tuna fish. Carry golf fail GIFon !

As stated, nothing really to worry about. Aside from subjective things like feel and whether or not they spin enough for your technique, you're not going to be "losing" anything. You'll hear stories of tour players playing a certain year of ball for extended periods of time, but it's always a comfort/familiarity thing, not a "this ball is objectively superior". The BX is fantastic as well.

Just picked up 5dozen of the bulk packed from Rock Bottom. First time ordering these, are the bulk packed always the same #’s? All 5doz were 3’s.🤷‍♂️

I wouldn’t worry about it probably just an overstock situation. Rock bottom is a very reputable company and they even ship to Canada so I’m a fan!!

Overall condition looks good, I was just curious more than anything.
I typically play #1-3 on course and keep #4’s for the sim. #OCD

In my testing as well as @Avidswampthing66 and others we both found the CTX and BX to be very similar outside 80yds, but the CTX definitely has more short game spin.

Houston, we have a problem.. when marking balls to throw in the bag I noticed “Tour B-XS” on the supposed ‘22 B-X ammo bag balls from Rock Bottom. Red number like normal BX but the side stamp doesn’t match either BX or BXS, wtf? Anybody have a number for their CS?

I get that it’s not what you ordered but it’s really interesting I wonder if it’s a pro version of the bxs kind of like the different pro V versions? Anyway curious to hear what they say

Misprints.  Probably why they don't come in packaging.

RBG is pretty good about returns, they usually return the shipping cost if I'm nice in my RMA request.

These are clearly not what was ordered, you ordered BX right?

That’s correct, ordered BX. I’ve sent them a message, we’ll see what they say.

I’ve never felt super compelled to cut open a golf ball but this may be a good opportunity to do it. Off to get some pipe cutters.. haha

The Ammo bag would be from Rock Bottom and maybe the reason they are priced what they are. Give them a call, not Bridgestone.

The “•” balls are legit from Bridgestone.  So, Bridgestone had a material shortage issue for the core of the original 2022 Tour series and had to make a change to the material formula for the core’s, thus had to change the side stamp to get new approval from the USGA.  The B•X and B•XS are the “2nd” version if you will of the 2022 series.  TC @ MGS confirmed this when I emailed him directly about the different side stamp.  Bridgestone had told TC that there was no performance difference with the 2nd version.  Check out the thread in the Golf Ball forum titled "Bridgestone Tour BX with a  ???".  Dated Nov 17, 2022.

The BXS with the red # could be a mis-printed ball...🤷‍♂️  Should have still been a blue #, I would think.
