This is correct. I find myself pulling against Stu Hagestad only because he is one of these professional/Ams that has a cushy job that allows them to still play a ton of golf. Basically I wish I was Stu Hagestad but I'm not so I hate him. Does that make sense?

Love the loyalty to Taylor Made...Callaway driver might make it into the bag, slap a lead a bit of lead tape on the logo. This is not Stu's first rodeo.

Been fortunate enough to play some Mid Am stroke play with Stu a few years back. Is it amazing golf? no. Is it incredibly consistent? yes. 

Turn pro and get lost on the KFT or stay Am and play the majors and stack medals in the cabinet. He's a smart guy.

I've played against him in USGA Match play, and while it went to the 18th hole and he won I still keep in touch with him and root for him. He's insanely nice and fun to talk to. He's had an incredible amateur career for a modern day Mid Am.

I don't understand the comments about his career and ability to play lots of golf and how it allows him to be successful.  There are tons of people who play "serious" golf  5-7 times a week who aren't able to come close to the consistency Stewart has displayed.  Yes, time and access help but it's not a guarantee.  His AM career has been incredibly impressive.

THIS! I understand chasing your dream, but if you are not the (easily) the top 125 and can consistently keep your card, I would apply for amateur status back and go play the Mid-Am circuit like Stewart does. On the KFT, you are playing some pretty average courses, but he gets to play Pine Valley, Seminole, LACC, Garden City etc. all during tournament conditions.

 

As with all great Mid Am and Senior players, their golf is boring and nothing impressive. However, it is extremely consistent.  Lastly, I have heard he is an incredibly nice person. It would be great to compete against him.

Or like my buddy who's a +3 cap who's gone to Q-School numerous times but never got outta 2nd stage so he quit on his dream and now works for the USGA.  That's what's called being stuck in golf purgatory.  Just good enough to play in am tournaments and qualifiers, but not good enough to actually make it.
