Big thanks to Byron and Steve for creating this masterpiece!

Another incredible putter. Enjoy it.

Is that a stock 612, or has here been any softening?

It has been softened slightly with the Tai treatment.

I’m going to order a DH89 that I would like softened? Is that extra? And if you just tell them you want it softened do they know what you are talking about?

Yes, softening or Tai treatment is extra to the cost of the putter.

It usually means they will soften the bumpers and top line of the putter.

I ordered a DH89 last month with softening and even asked for the hosel to be softened as well.

Here is my carbon DH89 with a brushed oil can finish when I first got it back in 2015. Will post a pic of the hand milled face.

Hi. Would you mind sending a current picture of your putter out in the sun? Just wondering how the brushed oil can finish holds up after years of use.

Thanks!

I'm about to order a DH89 and debating getting the "Tai Treatment" it not. Anybody with experience share their opinions?

It's all personal preference. I like the rolled topline a lot - I have it on one of my DH89's (the one in my avatar <--) - but I like the bumpers "as-is" from Byron. What look do you prefer?

Agree with the above in general. Tai treatment is really good on the more squarish Byron putters, especially the 615 and maybe 612. DH89 is already fairly graceful and curvy and doesn't necessarily need it. However, at the end of the day is all personal preference, so it's really up to you. Topline rolling as well...

Good luck

If you don't mind, can you post a picture of your byron from address (the one that had no work done softening the bumpers)? I wasn't a big fan of the softened bumpers on one I used to have, so I'm curious what a stock Byron looks like at address. I have a feeling a new putter will be in the works soon...

Thanks! Gotta say the non-softened looks great!

Great comparison photo of the differences thanks

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Wow, some beautiful new putters from Byron. I have an X-Proto which is similar to a 612 w/o any softening with a Tour Blast finish and a comparison DH-89 with the Tai treatment with the blue polished finish. As you can see the X-Proto is slightly longer. I putt great with both. There is a lie difference you might notice. I need to have the X-Proto flattened a bit to fit me.

Really like the look of that X-Proto!!

Thank you. That was my 1st Byron Morgan putter. I saw this head only on eBay and bought it with a shaft. I took it to the course and putted great with it so I ordered the DH-89. It has a tri-sole and was made for the Japanese market. I need to have it flattened a little but putt well with it as is even though it's a bit upright.

Guess I'll add mine... picked this up about a year ago off the bay. Looks like a 006 but the seller called it a Newport 2 Prototype made out of GSS with a 355 head weight.

I'm thinking of an order and just had Steve do a quote for me. DH 89, welded short round pipe, brushed stainless, site line and some cool stamping.

I love iridescent red on brushed stainless, tour satin or glass blast. I was thinking this stamping in the cavity, a face tour dot and something cool on the sole (don't want to give it all away until she's finished).

Don't want it to be too busy (have made that mistake before) but do you think I need the bumpers stamped? Nowhere on the putter will it say 'DH89' or SSS but Ilke the idea of clean bumpers for a change.

Thoughts anyone?
