I also bought a used bag. Mine is black. I've just used saddle soap on it. It has a few small scuffs, but I haven't worried about them. I would guess that some shoe polish would cover them up.

Still loving my Miura-logo Original Mackenzie Walker. I grew up playing golf before quality stand bags hit the market, so going back to an old-school bag felt natural. To a younger generation it might seem stupid laying one's clubs on the ground. The strap is really wide and comfortable. I've probably golfed around 50 rounds with the leather bag, and it looks brand new, and smells even better. No regrets here. It's a conversation piece as well as an awesome bag. Nieman Marcus has a couple really fancy ones that I'm embezzling money to buy!

I love my Mackenzie. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would though. I have used it maybe 6 or 7 times. I only use it when I walk. I haven't walked too much this year due to weather. We had a massive heat wave and for a month it was around 100 and humid. To top it off, I was playing in a few events that made carts mandatory for pace of play.

I just joined a local club where everyone walks almost every round. So the Mackenzie is back!

I still love mine, and have no regrets. I don't miss having a stand at all. I shot my best round in many years last time out with it, hoofing around an unfamiliar course. I would give away my old Ping stand bag if it weren't being used to store extra clubs.

I do have a question for other MacKenzie owners on here, though. What do you guys use for a travel bag? I have a soft-side Samsonite but it is probably big enough to hold three MacKenzies. Does anyone make a travel bag that is suited to the size of a Walker? Hard-side would be preferable. Thanks.

I've looked everywhere I can think of online and nothing suitable has turned up. In a few weeks I'm making a trip with one of the little Jones Sports bags and about 12-13 clubs, plus a pair of golf shoes. My big SKB case is pretty bulletproof but dang, it's like transporting your pet housecat in a lion cage.

I'd gladly pay the full-size-SKB price for a 3/4-size sturdy SKB hardcase.

The smaller size club glove might work well. Still going to be big, but you can put clothes, etc. in there as well with the bag to give it a little extra protection and save some $ on checked bag fees.

At least on USAir they are now featuring a warning in the baggage policies that I do not recall from years past. It says if they find any clothing or other non-golf-equipment items inside a piece of baggage checked as "golf equipment" they will charge a fee equal to the oversize and overweight charge for that bag. Which is considerable.

I do have one of the small Club Gloves, the one without wheels. It would easily swallow my Jones bag and everything I'd put in a suitcase with hardly a bulge. I would want to tote it, mind, but it would all fit in there.

Thanks for the effort. For what it is worth, I asked Thom at MacKenzie, and he had no suggestions either but was interested to know what I find. I'm amazed by that. As long as these bags have been around, apparently no one has thought about a smaller travel bag like you describe.

I have a plan to make my own, and will report back here after I do. If you find an off-the-shelf option, please let me know so I can relay that back to MacKenzie.

Take a look at the SKB 2SKB-4814W Deluxe Standard ATA Golf Case. There is no hard-sided case I have ever seen that is built for only a old-style carry bag.

Seriously, for how few non-stand carry bags there are in the world, it does not make business sense for a company like SKB to spend development $$$ to build one and sell maybe 1000 of them. It would be a bad business decision on their part.

I have a ballistic nylon because I wanted a very light bag that looked good. I also have a SM 3.5, which is also a very nice bag. But when I want to carry, the Walker is, for me, the better bag.

Here are our Mackenzie's out at the new 13 hole Preserve. The leather is a Sunday bag with the GITK customization. So fresh and so clean. There's just something about the leather.

I think if you walk, it isn't a big deal at all. I don't have a Mackenzie, but am currently using the Jones Players bag. Getting clubs in and out is not a big deal. Clubs don't really get tangled any more than they do in my Ping 4 Under.

It would be more of an issue if you rode on a regular basis.

I say off of this as someone who cares more about weight and likes things simple. I would never want a big carry bag with six, seven dividers.

Ex caddy here. It's no problem at all - has been a long while, but when I was caddying, the first Walker bag (believe it was in the mail order magazine "Herrington") had just come out. Carrying one is a treat for the caddy, and honestly, I'd really never set the bag down except to read putts. It is no big deal not having a stand.

I think a stand is like a rollaboard suitcase - sounds great, but once you go without one and realize the weight savings, you don't want to go back.

Took my MacKenzie over to Scotland earlier this summer and the caddies LOVED the bag! Throughout the round they were commenting about how light and user friendly the bag was. One constant comment was how easily it held my raingear and how easy it was to get to it when the rain rolled through. I would guess your caddie would be thrilled to carry a Mackenzie over just about any other bag.

It actually decreases bag chatter. The clubs nest nicely and are quiet. I'm back to my Sun Mountain bag for the winter which is devided 6 ways and there is notocably more bag chatter.

My avatar says it all. I don't know if I will ever be able to walk 18 holes again, much less carry my clubs. But if I do, I hope I will be carrying a Mackenzie bag.

I know this may be blasphemous, but why can't they build a Mackenzie with a stand? I belong to a club thats mainly for walking and requires caddies between certain hours of the day. While most caddies would think "cool bag" initially, that would wear pretty thin when they realize they have to drop the bag on the ground constantly.

They don't make a bag that stands because they are making bags that are nostalgic of the old days. A
stand bag would be just another leather bag.

idk I was a caddy at a high end club here in town, I never minded sunday bags. They were light and made the loop easy. Much easier when I was carrying 2 bags. I thought the light weight bag was much more advantageous than a heavier stand bag.

Now if you pull up with a cart bag or a stand bag with all the pockets stuffed.. oh man that was bad... I remember unloading dozens of balls, extra shoes, umbrellas, full on winter coats (in July) and other useless s*** from guests' bags.... They would be in shock as we were disassembling their bag.... I was in shock that they had 36 golf balls, a full rain suit, umbrella, and a extra pair of golf shoes in their bag and showed up to a club which uses caddys and thought it was going to fly. We would also take people who had bigger bags (cart bags and even larger stand bags) and would unload their stuff in a Sunday bag for the round (only if they didn't have a walking friendly bag).

I purchased a ballistic nylon bag, two pockets with water bottle sleeve, from McKenzie this past fall. What a great bag. I've carried it in nice weather, rain, and snow! I was using a SM carry bag that was very nice but the Walker is much easier to carry 18 holes.
