There is a UK company offering a round at Augusta with 2 former champs, not sure how much it costs, but I guess if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it!

i would pay 500 bucks, any more than that would just be silly. its a very nice golf course but its still just a golf course, i cant see it being worth it to pay 5000 dollars to play a round of golf, especially when you consider what a great vacation you could have in bandon or monterrey or scotland for that kind of money.

i would also pay 500 bucks to play the following:
pine valley
shinnecock
riviera
the olympic club

i have paid close to that to play pebble beach, wentworth west, and i dont remember what i paid at sunningdale but i got to play all day and they gave me lunch, that place was awesome.

Pretty futile question. Unless you are stupidly rich, went to the right Uni and are a retired hacker you won't get a game there. It may be a great course but it is zilch as a club, elitist and criminally underplayed.

my grandfather has it on his bucket list and was all set up to play with a member, when the member suddenly passed away. I would probably pay 500 or 600 to play it

Augusta has been my favorite course on TV for somewhere between 35-40 years.

Money is tight, times are tough, and I am NOT rich...
500-1K is about all I could muster, and I'm not certain I would do it if given the chance for 500.

Being a GreenKeepr I'd ring and ask if they accept my BIGGA card as St.Andrews do, if not I'll just watch it on TV. I love the course but the 'Old Boys' setup of the place isn't something I like or I think should be encouraged.

I would like to say $1K but I think if I had the chance I would pay more, IF I was on with a "goog" group and included my travel costs. I could say me paying 2 weeks salary or about $5K for a trip/golf at Augusta.

i don't really know if you could put a price on this course. The only way i am ever going to play there is by getting into the tourney which isn't going to happen anytime soon. I can play for free in my dreams though.

I would like a little more though. Maybe two rounds, one night in a cabin, and the par three as well. I might as well dream big.

Don't mean to brag.....BUT THEY PAID ME TO PLAY IT . (seriously). I caddied there for 30 days....and then they gave us "caddie day". I played 45 holes (back nine twice). They gave us carts...and beer at the turn.......UNREAL>>>>>I must say that it was VEEEERRRRYYYYY special. Sorry blokes........but if you want to play it...quit you job and caddie there for a bit (that is real sacrifice)

One viewpoint: there are some things that are more important than having money or an ability to pay. Trusted relationship is one of those things - and is the capital that is traded by members with their invited guests - at Augusta or any private association.


Most anyone can quickly come up with money, but it takes time to form a meaningful relationship with a person, and to receive the compliment of an invitation to a very exclusive club. It is a reflection of the member's relationship with you, and therefore by extension, with the club's standards.

That's what makes it special and literally "priceless".

-Winged Foot
-Olympic Club
-Pine Valley
-Augusta
-Spyglass Hill (that one may cost less than 250 and is public but whatever)
-Cypress Point
-Royal County Down

i havent been there, just seen it on tv, but i love old school golf courses, little out of bounds, no water, and yet a great test, its right up my alley. i understand what you are saying though, beyond the intracacies its similar to other courses.
