Push Carts - Average age of owner?

I use a bag boy quad and I'm in my mid 60's. walk whenever permitted and the terrain isn't too constantly or drastically steep, which translates to about 95% walking.
I can attest I feel the weight of pushing up an incline. On steeps ones I'm a little tired after reaching the top.
This appears to be a clicgear club. Curious about the raves for it. Can those owners explain how it performs up a hill, can it be pushed and left rolling in relative straight line on it's own? Is it very light? How is it's maneuverability? Just need some more detail and depth to the raves.
My main two selling points for the ClicGear were the wide wheel base (my old bag boy style would tip over if it hit a pebble) and the adjustable handle (you can raise or lower).

It's pretty maneuverable and fairly lightweight. At the same time is very sturdy and solid. The only knock against it is that you have to work to get it unfolded and setup. It's folds and compacts nicely but that also takes a little work. But after a while it becomes second nature.

I've always found it interesting that in the U.K. and Europe pull/push carts are the norm but in the U.S. they have the declasse image of being something that muni golfers, women, and older men use. I'm not making a value judgement, just an observation.

Unless the course is a modern course with a long distance between greens and tees (around and through a housing development), at 62 I still prefer to walk and carry my own bag when I go out in the afternoon and don't have to take a caddie. At my club we have a very active caddie program, so using a caddie is encouraged during prime time; golf carts (buggies) are discouraged. Push carts for those who cannot carry their bag but still want to walk became possible only a few years ago. It's healthier to walk, of course, so I like the idea of encouraging walking; there's just that pesky "image" problem.
I prefer to walk/push. I actually have a pull cart since I took a long hiatus from golf from when I walked a lot back in the mid 90s. I enjoy walking, I can go straight to my ball, can still socialize with everyone, get more exercise, etc. But living in the southern US it can get quite hot in the summer and as you pointed out, a LOT of people ride here. I'm not sure why but they've been conditioned to think its faster to ride when I personally believe the opposite is true.

So I just ordered a Clicgear 3.0 and was wondering what the average age of push cart owners are? I'm 31 and still in pretty good shape but frankly I feel a bit young to own one. However, I tend to rent one at my course most of the time anyways. I prefer to walk 18, but I do get tired on the last half of the back 9 when I carry. I will probably leave the push cart in the car if I'm only playing 9, but I'm looking forward to having my own cart for 18.
Lol. I felt the same way. I played with a couple of buddies one day and they both had push carts and so I decided to rent one from the course. While the course cart absolutely sucked, I liked the concept of walking while not having to lug a bag around besides, I really like my staff bag and hate ditching it to walk so its the best of both worlds. Got the Clicgear 8.0 and am really happy. I do get a few looks from some of the younger guys at the course from time to time but then again, they're butts are riding in carts. Besides, it will save you a ton of money in a couple of months not having to pay for a cart every time you play.

33 and rovic. Love it. I hate riding and going back and forth to the cart for my wedge or putter or diff club.

The exercise is great. But I don't have sore shoulders or back like I do when carrying.

I am seriously considering picking up a pull cart but the only thing holding me back is that the majority of my rounds are booked through golfnow/teeoff and they almost always include the riding cart. If I could get a refund for the driving cart every time I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I'd prefer walking with a pull cart to sharing a riding cart with another person for sure, that seems to really jack up my game.

I see Clicgear and Bag Boy being mentioned a lot but because of the above, I'm looking to spend a little less. Anyone have a recommendation at around $100? I'm looking at the CaddyTek SuperLite Deluxe Golf Push Cart on Amazon for $80 shipped right now.

I am 43 and I bought the first Clicgear in 2009, it is a beast!!!! and still rolling, very well built, I will say that these are the best push carts out there...I might get the new one since they added a few extras, but there is nothing wrong with mine, so we'll see...

Yes, my son and daughter use them for tournament play. Two nice click gears for 100$. Pawn shop score

Do their bags fit on the cart? I was thinking of getting one for my nephew...I guess he could always put a bigger stand bag on the cart.

I have used one for two years now. It is easier to deal with than picking up the carry bag I used to tote around. It is like having someone else to carry you clubs. I also got a Sun Mountain sync bag for my cart as a gift last year for my birthday. It is a great bag on the push cart and only fair as a cart bag. I have to reset my clubs for the switch.

30. It's more the norm than the exception for people of any age in Australia.
Should be the standard everywhere. Much easier. But here in the US is it seen largely as an old man tool. Mostly by tools that have an ego rather than a game.

But for the people who always push: do you keep more stuff in your bag vs if you would carry it? Personnaly when i carry, i took two clubs out (12), and only bring the minimun: 6-7 balls, couple of tee, repair mark tool, gloves, towel, brush and my rangefinder. I dont think it is a old man tool but i think it "push" players to keep things unecessary.

I just ordered a Clicgear Model 8.0. But have been looking at the rates for the courses around me, on most of the websites it only shows the rate w/cart. I am hoping that they allow walkers. This is my first year living in Charleston, and come to think of it, 99% of the people that I see on the course are in carts.

But to echo off some of the others, in a lot of cases (especially on busy days) I think walking would help speed the pace of play. Most of the times in carts, you will go to one players ball, wait for them to hit, then move on to the next players ball. You will often get caught up in looking for your partners errant shots since you are sitting in the cart with them. When walking, you go to your ball hit and move on.

Edit: AGE - 32
