I'm 44 and have been using a pushcart since I was 33. Never really cared what others thought about me. When I see people carrying and looking tired or shoulders hurt after 12-13 holes and I am still strolling along I'm good with the decision I made. Plus if it's too hot I put my umbrella holder up and use my umbrella to provide some shade for me to try to keep myself as cool as possible. Clicgear 3.5 love it!!!

I like walking courses, and prefer to carry my bag, but recent back issues brought to light carrying my bag may be to blame. I used a Clic yesterday for the 1st time at the recommendation of my skins group. Easily 25% more efficient, and my back felt great today.

I feel like an idiot for not trying one sooner.

Don't beat yourself up.

In early 2000, I consulted a sports specialist chiropractor about an annoying pain between my shoulder blades, whenever I played golf.

Long story, short, he suggested that I push my two wheeler instead of pulling. Weeks later, (was cured from the first day), I hit a hole on the course and the cart's handle hit me in the gut. The following day, I had a Sun Mountain V1 3 wheeler.

I'm 34.

I own a Bag Boy Quad. My seasons are normally split up as

1-3 times in a cart
5-10 times using my push cart
30+ times carrying

I use my push cart when I'm doing a drinking round with the boys. No one wants to carry a 6 pack+ on their back. OR when it's a downpour. I have great raingear, but it's nice to have an umbrella holder on my cart.

Will turn 65 next year and I'm just now going to go full time to my SM Speedcart. Bought it about 10 years ago but really only used it once or twice a year. Strained my back for the last time lifting my bag after every shot. Looking for a good bag now.

SM makes the Sync bag that is made for that cart and really designed for push carts, but certainly works in a riding cart. I have one and it is a great bag. Check it out.

Just orderea3.5+. I'm 37 and trying to lose some weight. I have a tendency to ride too much, which means I have beers, which isn't that healthy either. The reviews I've seen here are encouraging. Excited to try it out.

For whatever reason, I've also noticed that my back bothers me when I ride. Hurts when I drive a car too. I guess it's just the angle. Anyone else have that problem?

37 here as well... Getting a cart for Christmas! Never used one before, got paired with another guy using one the other day.... Thought I'd give it a shot! I have been playing alone a lot lately and tend to walk when by myself! We shall see! Got a Caddytek 3 wheel from Costco for $99 shipped, figured for that price I'd give one a go!

Sitting still period leads to back pain. It's your body telling you to move. I constantly shift in all sitting situations, including the car. I go from one cheek to the other, lean forward, lean back.

Another trick is to engage tour core by not leaning back into the soft seat back. When it home I only lean into the wall if sitting on the floor. At least then Ilit still requires some core to stay upright.

Getting up and walking around is always recommended. Every 15 min or so.
Strengthening the core muscles is another good way to ease lower back pain. I'm currently going for phys therapy for my back and a couple of core exercises I'm doing are
Lying on a bed( not the floor) pull your belly button to your spine. Hold for 10 seconds 5 reps x 2
Pelvis tuck- imagine your dog putting its tail between its leg. Same thing, hold 10 seconds x2
Squeeze a pillow or a small ball between your knees, hold 10 seconds.
All of these are with knees bent.
To really feel the stretch pull your knees to your chest with your hands behind your knees on the hamstring. Hold for 30 seconds, rest 30 seconds. 5 times.
Has helped me

Lefty -- I cannot say enough great things about the Caddytek. I was the first one in my foursome to get one and now we all have them. What color did you get? For $99 from Costco, you just can't beat it. And the truth is that for $250 you can't beat it. I've had mine for one season and about 50 rounds and it had held up very well.

I'm 47 soon to be 48, by the way.

Good to hear.... And I ordered gray... Hope I enjoy pushing it! I ordered a Callaway fusion 14 bag to go with it.. It came today, it's a nice bag, but has 14 way top and I'm not liking it, and will never carry it, so I hope it makes a great bag on the Caddytek!

My boys clown me al, the time about my cart. We all have them but I'm not in the "cool" clic gear groupies. I decided to go with the clever caddie because it holds my cart bag upright and eases taking clubs in and out for me. I've had NO complaints. They refer to it as the "grocery cart" makes me chuckle (stock photo)

My bag sucks for getting clubs out on its stands! But for some reason not as bad n the Caddytek!

I am 50 and I used a push cart last year for the time in 25+ years. Other rounds were a mix of carrying and riding. I enjoy playing the game as a walker over riding as it seems to slow down the game from a mental standpoint, very relaxing, and I tend to shoot better scores. There is something about carrying my bag that I really enjoy vs the push cart especially if there are a lot of hills on the course, but I enjoy both. Overall I could care less what others think about a push cart though when I decide to use one.

I've had my cart for about a month now and absolutely love it. However, when I play at private clubs in Atlanta, they end up charging the member I'm playing with as if I rented a push cart even when I bring my own. Anyone else encountered this? Not a huge deal as it's only about 10 bucks, but still.

The key word here is: PRIVATE.

Some will charge for a riding cart, even though they may allow you to walk...Nothing personal, it's business! :taunt:

I am glad someone brought this thread back up because I have never read it before. Got me to thinking and really educated me. I had issues last year trying to walk and carry due to bad ankles but I do need to loose weight. I did take some steps though this season so far. I had an old Cleveland carry stand bag that I have had for 10 years or so. Some of the walkers had told me that it was heavy for a carry bag but I did not think so. I ended up getting a new TEE 3.5 on a deal and wow it was lighter. My doctor has me on a diet and BP meds and suggested walking some and he knows my ankle issues. He had suggested a pull cart to take some of the weight from carrying off of my stressed ankles. He does not play golf himself. I have always hated pull carts but from the pics and posts you guys have posted I can see where the push cart may work. I used to walk 9 early in the season carrying my vintage stuff and later on in the season could do 18 but it killed my ankles. Last summer I did not walk any at all. I always enjoyed my Sunday afternoons walking and playing my vintage stuff and missed it a lot last summer. I am going to explore it seriously. This thread being brought up has really educated me and given me some hope and insight. Thanks again

Stu, I have had some foot problems, and the cart has helped. I am going to guess, and say my bag weighs 25 lbs. That is an immediate 25 lbs. reduction in stress on my feet. I've been carrying in the winter because the ground has been so wet the wheels make deep tracks, but when things firm up, I'll be back to the three wheeler.

Thanks-- It has been so wet here that the fairways are swampy and playing CPO. Usually playing CPO is not too bad but as mushy as the fairways are I sink up walking and it is hard on my ankles. My friend has knee problems and it has been rough on him lately so neither one us have played in a while

Just turned 30 a few weeks ago and i have been using a push cart for the last 2 years... even through i am in good shape i do have a hip flexer issue from a wake boarding accident. I could barely get through 18 carrying before... using a push cart changed golf for me... I must admit i took a lot of heat from my buddies who carried their bags, but almost all have since switched to a push cart
