Good Morning everyone....I am going to visit my parents this weekend in Cleveland and I am looking to see if anyone is playing Saturday morning and needs a 4th. I usually would play at Pine Hills in Hinckley but my buddies have an outing. If someone wants to play I can see if I can get a tee time in the morning at Pine Hills. Let me know either through this forum or through PM. Thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

Two weeks past my first PRP treatment to my torn elbow tendon. The pain from the procedure is mostly gone, and the constant pain of the torn tendon is already improved. Another treatment in 2 more weeks. I am hoping only 1

more does the the trick. Unfortunately, I'll probably wait until April or May to start playing again.

I think my uncle had one of these done and it took a long time to recovery from, but he is pain free now. Had to switch to graphite, but can play again without any real swing changes. Best of luck with your recovery, winter is coming anyhow!

Ha. I would actually entertain that but the outing is for my nephew's HS athletic booster club - so I gotta show support. I havent played since Labor Day so it will be nice to get out - just not looking forward to the venue. Weather is supposed to be perfect though, so i got that goin for me.

I had this done on both elbows previously. I switched to graphite for 1 season and hated them, so I switched back. I will be in Florida for 2 weeks in December and had plans to play all 3 courses at Streamsong, oh well! Probably better off waiting and strengthening my arms over the winter.

Played stonelick today probably last time for the year as they are aerating Tuesday. Course is in best shape I've ever seen. Stupid fast but true greens and everything was in tip top shape. Little tough today with the wind though.2725fd533c76caa136286ee0ec2bb9bd.jpg4190cdc3e4021c13710948f5cdaf89e4.jpg480044689ddc50ecbb804c640fe262d7.jpg

Anyone available this Friday for a round? I have the day off and wouldn't mind getting a round in at Elk's or Legendary Run or anyplace close to the 275 loop on the north or east side of town.
I have to work but will probably play over weekend

Has anyone played Oasis down in Cinci? I am playing in a Charity outing there in a few weeks wondering what to expect.

On several occasions. It's one of the better clubs around here. Fairly open, and you will have fun. It's always in great shape too. Here are a few pics from when I played it back in May. The 18th hole is a really tough par 4.

Played it for the first time two weeks ago. Fast greens and deep rough. Twice I ended up taking a penalty stroke after trying to hit out of the rough with a wedge. It is pretty wide open but there is heather and natural area's just off the fairway. Did I say the greens were fast?

Well ended up playing Stonelick Hills, didnt want to wast this absolutely beautiful day anywhere else. Fairways and tees were fine, the greens pissed me off, they are growing in a little and I couldnt really make anything, they punched em beginning of the month. Ended up shooting 83 from tips, love that course, did have a two put bird on 16...338 par 4, that was my best hole.

Played Moraine this weekend. And I cannot believe it is listed higher on the GOLF magazine list. It was unreal. Will post some pictures when I get home from work. Camargo is my favorite course ever but Moraine definitely is giving it a run for its money. Both courses have incredible par 3's.

Got a chance to play Ashland Golf Club last weekend, which is open to the public but extremely well-maintained and even late in October this was no exception. Big thanks to member Roadking_6 who is local to the area and gave me lots of solid advice, some of which I was actually able to follow! :fan_1:

First tee:

#3, 180 yard par 3:

#11, dogleg right par 4 (which I was a good boy and stayed in the left half of the fairway off the blind tee shot!):

If anyone is in the area, I highly recommend getting out there for a round. It's a classic layout with mature trees (lots of sycamores) encasing the fairways and small greens that require thought about placement off the tee and a premium on ball-striking in order to execute the strategy.

Also wanted to plug my thread reviewing Valley of the Eagles, a new course in Lorain County, which hasn't really been discussed yet in this thread however it has been mentioned:

http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/1557210-valley-of-the-eagles-elyria-oh/

It's not 100% just yet but worth a look if anyone is in the area.

GOLF Magazine Top 100 U.S. Courses 2017 - Ohio

2017 ranking / name / (2016 ranking) - notes

29. Muirfield Village (28) - ranked #59 worldwide

31. Camargo (31) - ranked #63 worldwide

40. The Golf Club (39) - ranked #79 worldwide, also made #2 on "Best Locker Room" list (Seminole was #1)

44. Inverness (42) - ranked #98 worldwide

79. Scioto (85)

89. Moraine (NR)

Surprised that Inverness is the only entry from northern Ohio, shocked that Camargo is so high on the list given how little I've heard about it here.

Also, can't wait until my wife wants to go visit her alma mater (UD) so I can hit up one of you southern WRX'ers to check out Moraine!

You can eat off the fairways at Camargo, very underated IMHO.

Camargo is really, really good but I actually think #31 is a bit high for it. Now don't get me wrong, it's easily top 100 course and I'm not trying to dispute that. Just to me it's closer to Scioto than it is to Muirfield. But that's really just semantics. The difference between 31 and 60 on the list is pretty slim... They are all still great.

What interesting is when I played Camargo, I actually felt Muirfield (which is obvious), Scioto, and Double Eagle were better conditioned than Camargo. Camargo is very well conditioned. It's definitely pure, but it didn't feel any better conditioned than a really nice private club to me (think New Albany, Wedgewood, The Lakes, etc.).

I really did enjoy Camargo though and it's one of the best courses I have ever played. I'm not trying to take away from that. Raynor has some really cool characteristics and design traits that he uses (the square greens) and it does kind of give Camargo that unique and memorable aspect you are looking for in a great course. The thing that really stood out to me at Camargo are the par 3's. In my opinion, Camargo has the best collection of par 3's in ohio and it's not even close. They very well may have the best collection of par 3's in the country. Each looks, feels and plays very different from one another. Each are memorable. And none of them are layups. Very cool place.
