Agreed. I took my 5 year old to the range last week. We usually go to the end of the line, but we had to settle for a spot in the middle of others practicing. He hit one a few yards and started out to get it. I rushed to get him and yelled a "HOLD" to the guys around me. My boy was not in harms way, but it was just the natural reaction to tell the guy next to you not to hit. He never even flinched and hit his ball anyway. I was pretty pissed until I noticed he was rocking out with his earbuds in and couldn't have heard WW3 start. There are times where you need to hear what is going on around you...like my incident and also when the group hitting into you yells FORE. Earbuds are for working out...not playing golf... My .02c.

i just grabbed a pair of bluetooth ear buds off amazon that work great for less than 100

You want some running ear buds with the loop over the ears. I had the same problem too. Headphones won’t stay on for me either until I got the running ones with hooks

I only use my Powerbeats3 on the range, but they are amazing, will not move or come off the ear, plus they sound great!!!

I use Powerbeats Bluetooth ones, and correct ear bud size if important as ever, i also went with foam instead of rubber. I never have an issue with them.

I have a pair of BT Powerbeats and they're solid, but the overear part makes it difficult to wear sunglasses. I prefer Bose SoundSport earbuds for anything where I'm likely to be wearing shades. I've never had a problem with them falling out.

I've used the Powerbeats3 for travel and practice. They sound amazing and were ranked #1 by cNet... the only problem is after an hour my left ear would start aching from the loop and could never get it perfectly sealed. The PB3 did fit better than the PB2. I now have the BeatsX, no loop, just a simple in the ear bud that if using the correct rubber piece is supposed to form a complete seal and do not come out. Sound is a 9/10, the PB3 was a 10/10 IMO. I can wear these for hours and have had no problems at all. When not in your ears the two earbuds hang around your neck and will stick to each other with a small internal magnet.

These or something similar. Might take a few goes to find ones that are comfortable though. Will stay in place no matter how hard your swinging. Usually paired with some heavy dutch techno, or progressive house.

I wear AirPods on the range and have no issue with them falling out. If apples wired ear buds fit you well, then so should the AirPods. They are particularly great if you have an Apple Watch.

you dont need your phone around with the watch. you can play music and control it from the watch without having to pull out your phone.

I've got bose soundsport headphones. Those are great for swinging with them in and stay in place super well! Might need to see if I can snag another pair for a good price now that the true wireless ones are out.

Bose Soundsport Free, Pricey but they stay in your ears, you cant really tell they are there, and best of all no wire going ear piece to ear piece.

AirPods and Apple Watch make an incredible practice/range combination...

 

set your touch controls to skip on one ear, and repeat on the other ear, and you're all set... control from your wrist is very convenient

If you want true wireless I suggest the Beoplay e8. Sure they got a high price point but the sound is the best I've tried, airpods dont even come close.

Stays firmly in place with the right size tip, personally prefer comply tips which they include unlike many others.

 

If I'm being shallow and superficial they look a lot better than the apple toothbrushes as well.

 

I get around 4-5 hours on one charge but the case itself got 2 extra charges in it so you dont always need to plug them in. Maybe not top of the class but more than enough for my practice sessions/quick 9s

To me the Airpods sound isn't as rounded and lacks some punch even compared to the Earpods and lack that treble balance that Bose and Beoplay get just right. Never been a fan of Beats really, just heavy base and not much else.

 

In the end it comes down to what you listen to and what you prefer.

Jaybirds hands down, any of the models work great. Sweatproof, come with the memory foam bud inserts so they stay in and connects to an equilizer app on your phone to customize the sound to your liking. Cheaper than a lot of the premium brands and the quality is amazing. Over two years of workouts, range sessions, bike rides and snowboarding trips on my X3s and they still work like the first day I pulled them out of the box.

I have these as well for everyday use, and I have the soundsport wireless ones for the range and workouts. They work great and I have no issues at all with the mic for phone calls. The wireless ones have good battery life as well.

I have the originals and the x3. As far as sound quality, x3 are some of the best ear buds as the app provides a truly customizable sound that is fantastic. If you are a range rat, these are great.

 

That said, I still prefer my AirPods for golf as I want/need to hear my surroundings. The x3 will block all noise around you. The AirPods are just so damn easy to use that they dominate all my headphone usage, which blew me away as I’m a headphone snob. Outside of on a plane, I pretty much listen to AirPods 95% of the time. Great for phone calls/conference calls, great for any hand free activity, great for golf. They sound pretty damn good and with no buttons or connecting, you just open and insert in ear and you’re off. I have a Apple Watch 3and makes it even easier to navigate music.
