worst luck/thing that happened to you on the golf course ?

Playing in a member/member tournament once, a guy I was playing with, tops his ball from about 190 out, it hits my ball and advances it 30 yards straight up the fairway.

A few years ago I hit a ball into a tree that was about 20 feet away, the ball came straight back and hit me in the neck.

I had a goose chase me once at state championships at high school, luckily I was faster (or maybe it just decided enough)

Worst thing that happened was I was hitting a sand wedge approach on a Par 4 hole from the middle of the fairway, hit the ball clean and took a bit of a divot. The divot caught a rock that shot straight up right into my forehead and busted my head wide open. Bled like a stuck pig since it was a hot day and we were walking.

Worst luck was in a tournament that had OB really close on the left side of the fairway. I hit a good drive in the center of the fairway and the ball hit something and went dead left into OB. That was irritating.

My buddy and I were playing in a Member/Guest at his club. On the second day of a 2 day event we went into the round leading. On the 16th hole, knowing we were very much in contention of winning, I hit my drive into a FW buker and my buddy pipes one down the center. I hit my shot into the greenside bunker, but my partner only has about 120 yards in. He hits a great shot that takes one hop and hits the stick, it bonces right and spins down a slope, off the green, and rolls right into the hazzard. That shot would have ended up about 6' if it had not hit the pin. We both go on to make bogey and miss the playoff by a stroke.

But that pales in comparison to getting shot at...

It was from a brand new set of Titleist tour blades that I had saved up 2 yrs for. I was gutted . .who does that ?

Many years ago while playing "The Pit" Golf Links in Aberdeen NC , I hit a woman in a cart off the tee who had turned around and had just come over a hill after I had hit...
I was sick....and had to go to the hospital just to make sure she was okay...

A couple of years ago. Played in our local clubs matchplay tournament. No hcp. regulation and I somehow had survived through 15 but being 3 down. My opponent is scratch player and I am abt. hcp. 12.
I won 16 and we headed for 17. A 190 mtr. par 3. Very narrow green. Difficult.
I hit my 9i (try to become hardcore wrx'er) about 1 mtr. Naah it was a hybrid. Being very proud of that shot I said to him very cool "Beat that. Now I am going to take you down".

I am sure have guessed by now that he made his shot and there you go. HIO.

wasn't me, but happened to another guy at a course i used to play at all the time. Guy was playing the 2nd hole at this muni in a rough area of town. Another guy jumps the fence, and tries to mug the guy, he resists, the mugger shoots him dead.

They have a much higher fence now.

I played the day before my buddy's wedding a few years ago with the groom, his father and the father of the bride. On 17 the groom was on the left side of the fairway about 25 yards in front and to the left of his father who hooked his shot and knocked the hat off the groom. We never told the bride or the rest of the family how close she came to having a terrible wedding

I played yesterday and started off pretty slow +3 through 4. The fifth hole is an 141 yd par 3 with water short and left. Hit a straight fade 9i dead at the pin. I starred down the ball which looked like it might land a yard or too past the pin. Instead it hit the pin which launched it backwards in to the water. Took a 5 after a shot that would of left a makeable birdie.

205 yard Par 3 on my local course. Beautiful 5 iron what looks to land around 5 ft from the hole, but no it hits a sprinkler head bounces 50 ft past the hole into a cars window on the street. The guy waited, couple hundred $ shot.

Par 3 - played my tee shot to come up a few yards short and roll on with a 5-iron. Good shot lands right about where I want and all of a sudden it takes a 20 yard hop backwards at about a 45* angle right into some bushes. When we got to the green we saw a maintenance hatch - must of hit the side and been knocked back.

Not the end of the world but my worst bounce

Not as bad as many cited here. First tee of a tournament, first round, I was struck in the forehead by a competitors warm-up swing. fortunately it was a glancing blow, but I did have to go to the emergency room and received a few stitches and a scar as a reminder.

The other twosome in my group forgot to engage the parking brake and the cart takes off for the pond at a good pace. One guy catches up to it just in time to ride along into the pond. One of the funnier things i've seen on a course until I realized my bushnell 1600 was in their cart.

I hit my ball near and got chased by Canadian Geese during a high school golf match right after the geese had a baby. Needless to say I left my clubs/ball/and dignity near them geese. Took 2 other people to distract the geese so I could get my clubs and my ball back
