Found a set of Callaway Great Big Bertha Hawkeye 3-5-7 woods for $2.99 each. With original grips grooved in from the original owner's death grip and Ultralite Light flex shafts. I can only hit hooks with them.

At another store I saw a putter that looked and felt really cheap looking and light, BUT had a Honma logo under the face (clear insert). There were no markings on the bottom at all and the finish was a metallic paint similar to those single clubs they used to sell at Walmart. Crap grip too. Did not buy it. Would love to find a good deal on a classic putter one of these days but all I ever see is crappy old set putters.

Near-miss today. Found a Mizuno MX14 4, 5, 6, and PW. If I could have found the 7-9, I would have been walking out with another set of irons.

Edit: MP 14, not mx

The heck with that - you should have got them. Those are the long irons you need for a combo set - just add some 7-9/PW blades to that 4-6 of cavity backs and it would make a killer set.

I definitely considered that. I already have a set of mp32's sitting in my garage waiting for me to find a 7 iron, so I didn't want to bring home another partial set.

I never find any good clubs in our local thrift shops, except for a single Cobra Jr 7-iron that I bought for my 2 year old son to hit whiffle balls with. An incomplete set of Titleist Acushnet irons, Tommy Armour Silver Scot 845 3-5 irons, and a Cobra fairway wood that looked like it was used to drive tent stakes is the only brand-name equipment I've seen. The rest of it should have been in a scrap metal bin.

However, I've found some excellent golf books. Several John Feinstein titles, Golf My Own Damn Way by John Daly, and The Golf Book (released by Golf Channel a couple years ago) have been great reading.

I passed on a nice Ogio cart bag today. It was a priced $20 and I doubted whether it would ever make it out of my garage with the 4 other cart bags that I don't use.

Do flea market/swap meets count? If so, bought this bag of Ping Eye 2s 1-PW (3-PW matching, 1 and 2 also black dot/same shaft but differing numbers) with 1W, 3W, 5W and an Anser for $60 today. Also got a cool black/white/gold Ping Eye golf ball that appears unhit.

These clubs were also in the bag. The 4 wood seems to be a decent persimmon and the Ginty wedge is marginally interesting I guess. Everything else is pretty much junk IMO... might try hitting the ridiculous infomercial "Xplosion" driver though... I'll look like a real tool on the range with it, which sounds fun.

Bought this Mizuno wedge for $10 from a different seller. Grooves are still in great shape.

There is a market on eBay for Ping Golf Balls. But be aware that many of the one solid color balls are fake, if it is an original black with golf letters you could make some good money.

This one is black/white with gold lettering. It's maybe worth $50-60 on the high end. I guess it's a less common color but not exactly rare. I think it's cool though, and I'm proudly displaying it on a shelf with my small vintage ball collection.

I could not see the white in the picture, two tones were never faked that I know of. I used to collect/trade/sell in Ping golf balls and was burned once when I purchased (and then sold), a solid gold, solid silver, and one other color. I still think that the Ping balls cool, and keep a couple around for conversation.

Bought two putters at Goodwill. Both are belly putters, about 40" long. Beautiful condition (the Bell looks new) with really nice long grips. I never even held a belly putter before, and these swing sweet. The Bell is a heavy pendulum type swinger, and Rife (Barbados Island Series) is a classic mallet. Love 'em.

Update: I've learned that the Bell was marketed as an arm lock putter, like Kucher. The other putter is the same length and might also be an arm lock, depending on the lie.

Newest find probably belongs in the ugly putter thread, but it was a $5 find at Goodwill so here it is!

Ping Nelli putter, 32.5" with a ratty Winn grip. Putter itself is in great shape, particularly the Isopur insert. Feel is pretty soft. This model seems to be pretty rare. The isopur insert ansers and zings seem much more popular for obvious reasons.

This thing is a bit of an ugly duckling, but it puts a nice roll on the ball. I typically go for full toe hang putters, but this one is face balanced and is pretty point and shoot. It'll stay as long as it performs.

If anyone here is having issues with loading pictures, save them to your Facebook and then just copy/past the link. I found that's somewhat convenient comparable to the system here on the forum.

I didn't buy the masters shirt because it was medium but if anyone is interested I can head back. The clubs are 2-w sw and lw. Burner driver and burner 5w. All in great shape. The bag is decent too. All out the door for 24.75.

They also had ping i3 osize iron set but graphite and a guy's name was engraved on hosel or I would have bought them as well. Came with another callaway bag for 24 dollars as well.
