It’s funny how we are partial, and nostalgic for, our first iron set. Yet, when I sold them way back when and “upgraded” to Mizunos, they had zero value to me.

I really hate you. I bet i've been in a goodwill 1,000 times the past few years and havent found a single scotty/bullseye/betti etc.

 

 

You say that like you're supposed to find Camerons and Bettis. I've found some "stuff" over the years (complete sets of 300 Forged TMs, VFoil 1025Ms, Mizuno MPs, Pings...) various clubs but finding a Cameron isn't going to happen often.

 

Funny enough I live in the Cities too, so we're probably trying to pick the same places. :)

Had the day off today and spent it hitting up the thrift stores. About a dozen stops in all and my haul was:

 

3-PW Callaway X12 irons (ladies gem graphite shafts) - $18

3-PW Hogan Edge GCD irons (stiff graphite shafts) - $18

3-PW Ram FX3 irons (steel shafts) - $12

Callaway GBB 3 wood (ladies gem shaft) - $2

Callaway GBB 2 driver (stiff flex) - $2

Titleist 983K driver (graffaloy blue pured shaft) - $2.50

Cleveland Launcher 460 driver (regular flex) - $2

Cleveland 588 chrome 56 degree wedge - $2.50

Cleveland 900 Tour Action raw 56 degree wedge - $2.50

 

Spent about $60 in all and don’t really need any of it. Might use some of it for trade down the road or donate it to the local school golf team. I had $60 worth of fun looking for it, LOL.

Agreed. Most clubs I see there are in bad shape or nearly 100% of the cost of a new club.

Is it? I recall there always being decent cheaper stuff in the pre-owned wrack from time to time. Maybe they are jacking it up - I've tried staying away from there so as not to be brining more clubs home.

Examples of other used items there yesterday

Who would pay that for used clubs? I can find way cheaper here or Ebay. I rarely find good deals and if it is it's usually a price mistake

I don't know, I just recall there generally being a club or two (usually older, but not ancient) in the pre-owned section whenever i would go in there. Like I said though I have tried to stay away from GG.

I haven't taken a full inventory yet but there are probably thirty 6 irons, shaft optimizer club, and fitting bag.

Likely from the mid to late 2000s. I know I saw a MX25 and an MP67.

Should be fun to mess around with on the Skytrak.

There was a time when you could find a good deal now and then. I was told at my local GG that a lot of the good stuff gets grabbed early by employees to sell on Ebay.

It's got wheels! Actually only 20-25 lbs. Maybe I'll take it out and walk 9 just to see what kind of response I get.

08-09 AP2 "set" with some other junk including one nasty Ping Sunday bag for $15. 8 iron is bent and 6 and 4 are missing. So, it's my first club rehab project. Pretty stoked.
