The hole yardages are ridiculous...510 for men 419 for the women...for a par 5? I guess they do it because they figure men will pick the women in eliminations?
I think the 510 is more ridiculous comparatively. Brent was probably hitting 6 or 7 iron for his second shot and he isn't really that long of a player.
He hit the one drive 320. He isn't long by WRX standards, but in the real world he is.
Hilarious!

BTW, I think we missed an obvious one regarding the reunion Big Break that will air this fall. Liebelie has the identical twitter gap as the others, from May 29 to June 15. Then she returned with a flurry of tweets on June 15 and 16, including many retweets from the period she was inactive.

...
Also, even though the episode finished as one of the most distinct in Big Break history, I'm not going to overlook one bit of absolutely horrendous editing early in the show. The final location during the immunity challenge wasn't suspenseful at all. Team Maya had the lead, 16-15, but there was no chance Jay was going to hang onto it. Somehow, leading into a commercial the producers brainstormed to use a clip of Chad and Taylor arguing in the trees, debating who should hit the shot. Chad wanted Taylor to play from there. Meanwhile, Taylor had already gone first in the immunity challenge. That segment had aired. Any further shots from Taylor meant that Team Maya had failed during the immunity challenge. And they hadn't teased a location between the trees in the preview of the immunity challenge. It had to be later.
Hmm, I though I had checked up on her but maybe I didn't...

I thought same, it was obvious Team Maya was in the elimination challenge at that point. They showed that bit during a promo over the weekend (on MD, maybe?) Anyway your correct b/c of that it was obvious Maya was going to be in the elimination challenge along with Brent - heck it was obvious to me when they had Liebelie hit the initial shot out of the trees b/c I had seen the bit over the weekend...

It's not as bad as when they showed Christina on the eliminated group's fishing trip when she was still alive on the show, but it's close lol...

I just watched it (DVR)... I was conscious of the time the whole way through the elimination challenge so they really got me with the TO BE CONTINUED! The conclusion better live up to the cliffhanger... but based on the make-up it looks like Lala's going...
I was thinking Brent will be sent home based on how red his eyes were.

I'm hearing everybody talk about LaLa's makeup and everything, did no one notice Brent's eyes? They were almost bloodshot red... Sucks to see either of them go after a display like that, but I would really like to see Brent win this thing...

A bad day on the course is better than
a good day at work!

I understand there are many parts that they don't show for timing reasons but...Brent teed off first after her tying eagle. Now maybe they did a coin flip, picked numbers, etc but it would be nice if they commented on who won the flip.

Related to golf, this was the best segment ever on BB. Considering the pressure of the situation, both performed amazingly well and neither is going to deserve to be eliminated. It will be interesting to see if it's decided by someone winning a hole or a mess up.

What a cliffhanger... I thought Barbara Streisand was going home too... She's giving Brent a run for his money. Best editing job on this show in it's history. Was not expecting her to make that bunker shot. Streisand was also hitting some incredible hybrid shots - much kudos to her!

At first I was surprised Matthew told Brent that he should try to take out Liebelie. I think Matt figured either way one of the better players would be gone and that's just less of a battle for him in the future.
No surprise to me. He was dogging him I think. He knew lala could oust him. Good way to get rid of Brent.

IDK about him dogging him. He said she has played the least out of everyone. Which is true. I think he just knew what to expect from the other 3. She was more of a unknown which could go either way.

It's funny I thought for sure she was done but my wife kept saying 'something is going to happen, the time of the show if going to run out before it ends'. When she hit into the bunker I looked at my wife and was like nah it's over. She goes 'no they always do a little send off and the show is going to run out before, something is going to happen'.. then boom....

TBH I am not sold on the fact that she actually holes it from the bunker(probably because I am pulling for Brent). I know how the Big Break likes to tease things, but in the promo for next week it didn't show La La hitting any shots, but it showed Brent a couple times. The part that got me was it showing him two putting for birdie before she even played from the bunker; i guess it could happen but it just doesn't add up. Either way some of the best golf ever played on the Big Break that i can remember.

Yeah I don't think there was anything nefarious about the suggestion. Both of the other guys have shown they can play and Taylor has sunk her share of clutch putts (and they know I might stop watching if she leaves).

Maybe it's no accident that they haven't lost a player yet. They are all pretty good.

I believe it showed him putt for eagle because his putt was further away from the hole than her bunker shot. After he lagged the putt close, he chose to finish out.

The timing was different. No question about it. When they tied after two holes I looked at the time remaining and there was plenty of room for one more hole, but not two. I thought maybe they switched to a par 3. When the finish was crunching up against the top of the hour and destined to run into the Feherty show, I had no explanation. I was watching on DVR replay and wondered if the start of the show had been delayed by a few minutes. But that made little sense, without a major golf news item. As your wife pointed out, they always use a goodbye clip. Later in the series it's typically longer and more emotional, and that certainly would have been the case with Liebelei, after such a valiant effort and with Maya finally broken up.

I never considered a carryover. There have been one or two in Big Break history, but exceedingly rare.

There are only two episodes remaining until the finale, if Rich Lerner was correct last week during a promo. Yet six players remain. Two will go next week but that still leaves an overflow. Very likely we'll have a three player finale. One player apiece from each team would be ideal from the producers' standpoint.

I was a bit annoyed at Matt and Brent teaming up and being so blatant about it. It will be interesting to see how Matt reacts to Liebelei's amazing bunker shot, if at all. We never got to see the full reaction from players and commentators. That will air early next week. The show used preview clips of Maya teammates rolling off the bench and onto the ground in disbelief. Matt appeared to stand there, holding his umbrella. Perhaps quiet reluctant applause. I won't have any trouble turning against him.

If Liebelei is on the reunion series this fall, the other players won't know a thing about her, other than the first week or two of this Big Break. Those early episodes aired before the fall version filmed. Leibelei played two years on the LET but not on Symetra, so the players we've isolated as likely to be in the fall version won't be familiar with her. The hosts no doubt will refer to Liebelei's spectacular bunker shot but the other contestants hadn't seen it. It will be interesting how that plays out, if Leibelei will volunteer to hit bunker shots while emphasizing she had some success on Big Break Mexico.

In any event, I never thought I'd have to worry about conference bragging rights from a player born in Greece who calls Luxembourg home. On twitter today, Leibelei responded, "Go SEC!" She graduated from Vanderbilt.

Looking at next week's preview and they do show both her and the ball going into the hole in the same frame. Also, in the episode summary, Tom and Stephanie also call it one of the greatest moments in the history of the show. So I'm pretty sure she did hole the shot. I also thought there was about a 1 second clip of her in the next episode's promo. Forgot that the winner of the elimination challenge also walks away with a smooth $5K.
