I found the stock tp shaft to be no better than the non-tp. Ive never hit a driver this high.

Funny how it can verify so much between players....I am not getting enough loft and this the highest drive in my bag for who knows how long.

I was at the range yesterday and was finally able to hit these balls that just fall out of the sky as if they've been shot, that people complained about.
I have a 9.5* that I play on the 'up' side turned to 10* and have been hitting it really well.
I moved it around to the standard lie and whammo... bad results.

Maybe folks should try one of the 5 settings on the up side and see if that gets them some improvements?

R1 too spinny? How is that possible? - it's the second lowest spinning head every created in the industry behind the SLDR. Sounds like you are coming at the ball with an extreme AoA or badly open face angle.

Amazing........you might just be the greatest golf instructor on the face of the planet in that you can diagnose my swing from just a few lines of text, maybe Tiger should reach out to you, so you can share with him some of your incredible swing thoughts......might get him over the 14 hump. I can promise you the R1 is not the 2nd lowest spinning head ever created......... Cobra pro D, j33, etc etc just to name a few that are lower spin. Besides that, most of the amateur guys from Europe don't swing hard enough to generate too much spin, so I can understand your confusion.

[/quote] this is what I read but I bought one at 10.5 standard stiff and this thing goes higher than my G20 with the standard stiff,it gets no roll out just goes up and drops,might try it a 9.5 and see how it goes but sound and feel to me its the best taylormade driver theve had out

In my opinion this is the lowest spinning head I've EVER tried, my professional buddy who can spin anything to the moon now hits high ZERO spin bombs, perfect for him but he generates a boat load of spin. Sometimes I believe people confuse or lump together spin/launch, people with plus AOA's can hit anything high but that doesn't mean it's spinning as evidenced by comments about the ball falling out of the sky...BB

I will add that one rarely sees real golf balls fall out of the sky, or on the actual course when compared to range balls. Sure, non range balls can fall out of the sky also due to the lack of spin, but this time of the year when most courses are more on the firm side it is hard confirm this even you thought that you saw it fall. Once the wet weather shows up and the lack of roll out comes into play, this is when one can confirm 100% that it did fall if you are playing a familiar course.

I have not checked mine on a LM yet, but my trouble with possible low spin is not the ball falling out of the sky, it is the forgiveness that stands out to me.

Ave day yesterday and pretty good day today with a GD BB 6 in mine...just enough good drives that make me keep mess with it.


Played a course that I played on Wednesday today for a good comparison since Wednesday I had the R11s GD DI 6 out and they were close, but the R11s got it almost ever hole that both drive were good. Only dif was today was a 8 am round and Wednesday was a 11 am round....more roll on Wednesday and we had some serious rain on Thursday which soften the course overall.

S far for me, the BLUE shafts seem to work the best....Blue PX and now the BB. Need to try a Kai'Li 70 and a maybe a YS 6+ next.

Actually, ignorance is making comments about someone's swing that you have absolutely no knowledge about. Not to mention the comment about the R1 being the 2nd lowest spin head ever created (just FYI, there are other members here that are getting more spin with this head than they would like). Took a 10.5* with a reg speeder shaft out for 18 today. I normally play a powerbilt 10.5 AFO n7 with a Fujikura E250 stift shaft. I think l spin it too much and have been looking for a lower spin driver. No such luck i fact l hit several block fades with it. I tried them togethrr on only one hole. I got all of the powerbilt and hit it 15 yards past the sldr. Gotta keep looking.

Maybe it was a bad fit...you're playing stiff inthe powerbuilt but went regular in the SLDR?...That could cause some of the issues you describe.

SLDR isn't garbage...but it's a very "hit or miss" club. My honest opinion is that it's a very stark change from what TM's been putting out over the past few years, so it's not fitting for most TM players who are used to the white.

I hit the SLDR in our swing lab the other day... personally I thought it was an ugly gray color and the little line on the back of the crown hindered my alignment. Of course I've been hitting Titleist drivers since the 909, so it's not surprising I didn't like it.

First of all, I did not mention I had any problems other than occasionally the R1 spins a little more than I would like (as others have posted on this site as well). His comments were based on something that he has no clue about, much like yourself. If I was asking for suggestions, I would have posted it that way, but apparently (gopher) you are too stupid to figure that out. My "lack of humility" is from the fact I am sick of dime store swing coaches throwing out suggestions right and left like they know what they are talking about. As far as bad manners, it is bad manners to tell someone they need lessons when you have zero idea how good or bad their game actually is. Since station has decided to make public a PM I sent him calling him out for his snide comments, I will extend that same offer to you as well, and if you two cant get your balls out of each others pockets, your more than welcome to both hit me up and we can make a day of it. As far as station goes, I sent you that PM to keep it out of this thread....especially after your snide comments saying I needed lessons were deleted. If you are in Colorado, then by all means that offer is open ended, so make sure and let me know anytime you (or you and gopher) are in the area.
