Gillis comes across like a complete douch trying to play dad and for the twitter call out. Let two grown men handle their own bets. If Crane is being a punk about paying, let Berger fix it.

Maybe. Kind of sounds like Berger asked Gillis how he should handle it though.

I'm not 100% with you on this one but I see where you're coming from.

Gillis looks like a bigger D-bag than Crane.

Don't get me wrong, not paying up on a bet is a jerk move assuming all of this is on the level. But appointing yourself the payment police and acting like a Kardashian on social media makes you the bigger d-bag.

Gillis did his friend no favors by blowing this up on twitter. Yeah he probably got him his money but he also makes Berger look like a guy that can't handle his own business.

That's a good point. One I hadn't considered.

Here's another point, Berger has made 1.7M dollars this year and the year is half over. His salary should be around 3.5M

A 6000$ bet to him is by comparison, about 130$ to someone who makes a pretty good salary (say 75K)

He looks like a b*tch crying about this on social media as does Gillis.

Ben Crane should pay his bets and there should be some locker room shaming. But cmon, Gillis looks like an idiot here and Berger looks like a child

All true, BUT regardless of whether it was $6000 or $6 I would want my money. I hate people who bet and don't pay up, way too many people like that in the world.

Grinds my damn gears. Then again if it was Berger I would have just had it out with crane in the locker room with a bunch of other players around to shame him like you say.

While I wouldn't out someone via twitter when it has no effect on me, I don't get how people think Gillis is in the wrong. There was a thread on deal or no deal a while back about someones friend getting ripped off on a bad trade deal that happened on this site. The guys friend was new to the site and didn't know how to handle hit. The OP was a long time member with great feedback and started the thread. Many people were carrying their pitch forks wanting the Op to out said person. How is it fine for that situation but not the Gillis/Crane one.

Exactly! If I were Berger I would have let it go...gimme a break unreal...I just screamed as loud as I could from the back porch. What a bunch of P's!!!!

Exactly, shame him in the locker room. I'm sure some other vets would have backed him up and compelled Crane to pay. You pay up on bets, that's the code....completely agree

But keep it off social media. Just makes them all look like prima donnas.

So yeah i think we're on the same page, whoever you are, new guy

If I were Berger I would have accepted the loss and never bet with Crane again. And made sure everyone in the locker room knew about it. Crane is the biggest DB in this production for not paying up, but I agree Berger and Gillis also come out looking petty and childish. Berger could have taken the moral high ground and enhanced his standing amongst his peers by being the bigger man by putting it behind him, but he went to the wrong guy for advice.

I agree that none of them look good after all this. I feel like Crane thought he could stiff Berger being that Berger is such a young guy and Berger confided in Gillis because he didn't know what to do about it, Gillis then takes it upon himself to shame Crane via Twitter. Berger should've just got Crane to meet him on the 9th green at 9.

One of my sons was complaining about a friend that didn't pay a bet - I told him learning early on that you can't trust a guy is worth more than any amount of money he could have bet.

One of my other sons (huge bama fan, darn front runner) was yapping before the national title game about how they were gonna dominate Clemson, so I told him to name the price and we would do the current Vegas line. He never paid, and since has wanted to do minor bets on various stupid things (free throw contest, bottle flipping, etc), and I told him, no, I don't bet with guys that don't pay.

Point is, knowing who is a "guy" and who isn't is MUCH more valuable than the winnings.

Besides asking for the money, what else should he have done? Beat the crap out of him? Take him to small claims court? The issue is with Crane. Crane had nooooooo intentions of paying either. He wanted to go double or nothing with a game of ping pong.
