Michelle Wie has gotten married!

The LPGA star married Jonnie West in Beverly Hills on Saturday.

Wie (29) and West (31) had announced their engagement via instagram back in March.

Jonnie is the son of Hall of Fame basketball star Jerry West. The groom's father was in attendance along with Golden State Warrior star Stephen Curry and LPGA pros Danielle Kang, Jessica Korda and Marina Alex.

While Wie has a home in Jupiter, Fla., she is expected to make her home in San Francisco where her husband is based.

Wonder if Wie's parents pressured her into anything? Make sure they get an athletic kid(s)?

Either way, Wie seems like a nice girl, shame what happened to her career. Wish her the best.

Her parents are still directing everything. I can see them outside her house with a megaphone:

"No soup on Tuesdays, only 5 hours of TV per week, no takeout dinners, 2 showers per day at 11 minutes each, no long vacations with others, clean sand from shoes before using toilet, no fabric softener, always wipe front to back, must sleep 9 hours per night, insert that in here or occasionally here but never, never THERE, eat this, don't wear that and drive the speed limit always."

One thing is clear - Graf and Agassi are the only people who know what really goes on in their marriage. We have no idea.

All marriages have rocky periods. They might be holding it together for the kids. We just don't know. Just to be clear, I would not define the Graf and Agassi marriage as high profile. They would be mid-level at best.

Michelle Wie seems to be one that meanders. And let's face it, "meandering and marriage don't mix."

I think that was a Dean Martin song?

If we're going to be clear, then it's also clear that you know nothing about what's going on in their marriage either.

If you're not going to call Graf and Agassi a high profile sports marriage, then Wie and Jonnie West aren't even close. Wie topped out at number 6 worldwide, West is.... who? Both Graf and Agassi were world number 1's and they weren't just for a brief moment either. On top of that, tennis is a bigger sport than golf.

Other than that..... good point!

This is the most important thing that apparently he doesn't understand. The unconditional odds may be somewhat in his favor but unless he has any actual insight into any of these peoples' (peoples' being the countless number of people he's mentioned over time) marriage, then all he is doing is 100% speculating. Worse, it is often written to sound as if playing the odds makes such speculation a fact.

I offer this related article:

https://www.independent.ie/life/family/we-are-very-happy-andre-agassi-reveals-the-secret-to-his-17year-marriage-with-steffi-graf-37134213.html

An excerpt:

“I think all too often, that discipline is lost in a marriage and that then spills over into a lack of respect and losing care for each other. That is when communications can break down. That gives you a chance to make the most of a beautiful opportunity when you meet someone very special in life.”

You call it speculating, I call it understanding human behavior. Michelle has been an "adolescent squirrel" her entire life, running here and running there chasing and tracking after nothing but an empty symbol of what her folks call success. She's meanders through life held afloat by nothing but a dream and a wisp of frivolity. She lacks the discipline your "tagged" tennis icons of sport & marriage speak of in the above copied passage. Wie will wake up one morning and ask, "why this dude?" "I can do better." From there it's anyone's guess.

Wie you may be right. But you make many negative assumptions about people / situations that you have no specific insight on all the time. Someone is playing bad? Must be their marriage. Again, statistically there may be a problem more often than not. But you are providing absolutely 0% insight to the situation, and often appear to take joy in calling out the faults or difficulties others may be experiencing.

I know you've said you believe in karma, and this is one reason Phil hasn't won (and likely won't win) a U.S. Open. Accordingly, it would be great if at some point people will publicly speculate about what difficulties you may be facing or the shortcomings you have.

I didn't read all of the link you sent. It is true that all marriages have rocky periods. But outside of that was your negative assumptions/tone towards what could going on (even though we can't see it) with Steffi / Agassi completely wrong?

Re: Steffi / Agassi

Would any couple give an interview and say their marriage stinks?

No more than a candidate would provide a bad reference at a job interview.

You’re asking for insight. I offer hope – that’s all I have. I hope these marriages hold up, but I am also very aware of the head winds that stand in the way. Sometimes I think all we have are statistics. We buy on ratings. We don’t buy on ratings. We rate this good. We rate this poorly. We look to numbers for answers when most of the time those answers are right there in front of us. Yes, my friend, those answers are not found in marriage. The number one problem in marriages is that people don’t speak to each other (about the right things, often enough). Only the strong will survive is not natural selection. A marriage must be more than survival. If one marriage partner doesn’t work out some people move on in search for another. For what purpose? To fill a void we can’t explain? The problem is that we think we need that one person to help us express what we feel. The limbic portion of the brain controls arousal, as well as memories and emotion. But strangely enough, it does not control language. That’s why when people speak of love at first sight, they are speechless. “I don’t have words to describe my feelings” is another common reaction. The answer lies not within one’s partner but the act in making the selection of one’s partner. Sometimes we choose too fast.

My shortcomings? Let’s just say, sometimes the flowers arrange themselves.

Yep, got two horses and the American Indian guy with Johnny West for Xmas one year. Never got Custer, rats. But did get some Major or Captain cavalry guy later at the department store with my own money. Hey, not saying I didn't have the G.I. Joes either, but for me the Wild West ruled!

My G.I. Joe Jeep survived and later became my girls "Barbie Jeep" until one fateful night when they left it out in the living room and for some reason that was the one night in who knows how long I walked out there in the middle of the night and ............. well, they got an "official" Barbie vehicle not long after.
