Is this forged? I don’t see any marking on the iron but I thought that was the rumor.

The slate finish is back in the line up. I can’t confirm nor deny if they are forged or not but half way through the round they feel great and spin like crazy!

Not trying to knock your photography skills by any means. But, if you get a chance to snap a clearer Pic of the face, I'd greatly appreciate it

    Thanks for the pics! Seriously.

With that being said, I’m really not sure where Callaway is going with this, are they just bringing the Jaws name back? I need to hear the backstory on this because from a visual aspect, they look identical to the predecessor

I've heard these will release towards end of September? Can you confirm? Also, same leading edge as MD4? I know MD Forged and MD4 were different shapes/

On the 58 especially they were going for the higher cg ie. SM7 but its not as drastic. They also have a straighter leading edge compared to the MD4

They are using a new quad groove technology. Four mini grooves between the main grooves for better spin and control.

By the way, I just made all that up, but you know something to that effect will be the response to anyone thinking they are the same as the previous model.

If you combine the MD4 and MD Forged you get the MD5 Jaws. They take the best from both wedges and put them together. IMO i think they look better then the MD4

Thanks!, I need a 54 with more bounce then I'm currently playing. Was contemplating these or going back to SM7's. Suppose I could wait a month.

They still have that stupid extra mini groove at the bottom of the face. It just makes the leading edge look more rounded than it really is. Those that prefer a rounded leading edge will like this, but I open and close the face of my wedges a lot and the rounded edge makes it hard to visualize where the face is pointed. I have a set of MD4 raw that I just don’t get along with that rarely see the golf course because of this. Personal preference, I know.

They also just look like a rebadged version of last year’s model, which looked like a rebadged version of the model before that. With some new, science backed groove pattern. But really, that’s every company when it comes to wedges. I can’t think of many radical departures in the better player’s wedge game over the years. Maybe the flanges on Vokeys (SM7s and the 200 series), the “cavity” design on the Nike Engage wedges, the V soles on Clevelands, and maybe some unique finishes from different brands over the years which stand out.

Bring back X Forged! Best Callaway wedges ever. In vintage finish. The Mack Daddy 2 Tour Grind weren’t bad, either.

Groove, in groove, in groove. Not sure what to think of these, not really a fan of shiny chrome irons and the design looks a little plain. Guess it comes down to performance after all.
Pretty happy with the MD4 and really love the black shafts with the tactical finish (despite the wear after a single use).
Wonder if Callaway will also bring out some other finish version and styling. These ones look a bit plain.

  • MabyboiMabyboi Members Posts: 103 ✭✭✭

Any word on what shaft will be standard in this wedge? And any word on if its forged? Thanks!

  • mackepamackepa #TheWRX Members Posts: 3,633 ✭✭✭✭✭✭✭

I’m kind of indifferent on these. I love my MD4’s but will replace them with identical specs in the Jaws once I wear the grooves out.
