As someone who looks down at the 716 AP2 everyday, it looks like they may have ever so slightly trimmed some edges down and slimmed up the new 718 AP2. It doesn't look like the bottom edge is as bevelled, it looks more square or sharp. The top line has sharper lines as well and isn't as rounded off. It could just be the pictures as well. Really looking forward to hitting these. Probably pick up a set this winter. Personally, I would prefer them to use the DG AMT as the stock option. This shaft really fits my swing well. Love the lighter weight in the longer irons and the classic DG weight in the short irons gives a nice feel and great trajectory.

 

I'm seeing the same thing. Looks like the new AP2 has moved slightly more toward the better player design and away from reaching into the 5-15 HDCP player group. Thus making room for the AP3 that likely targets the 5-15 group, and leaving the AP1 for the super game improvement crowd. If that's where Titleist is going then I suspect they will gain some traction with the AP3 as a direct competitor to clubs like the Ping i200 and Mizuno JPX Forged. The prior AP2 was smaller and not as forgiving as those in that middle category. AP3 seems to target that group.

Titleist places the AP3 between the AP1 and the AP2, weird but that's what it is.

I still play the 2012 AP2's 5-PW, I had to get a 816H1 23* hybrid to replace my 4I and the AP3's would come very handy.

Im not a fan of the looks here and i think its the white area around the titleist logo on the ap2. Think 714 still looks best

I'm not sure what I think of the AP2s this cycle. Part me wants to like the modifications but I can't help but feel they look a bit "thicker" than previous models even despite the AP3 induction.

in my Golf Club here in Germany near Heidelberg, we have a Titleist Fitting Day at the 22 of September specially for the new iron´s and hybrid´s. My Pro told me, that they will show official pictures at the and of August and launch the new models at September.

My Fitting appointment for new AP2 or AP3 iron´s and a new 818 hybrid is 1 pm on 22 September :taunt: !

I've played CBs for four years now and love them, but this makes me love them less:

Had AP2 712, and I'm on AP2 714. Didn't bother with the 716's.

Will definitely be getting the AP2 718, going to the fitting with the intention of getting the 4 iron in AP3, and I'm open to leaving with the 5 iron in AP3 as well.

 

Also considering for the first time to sack off my 50* Vokey and replace it with the GW in the AP2.

Some additional pics of the new line located here... Those AP3's are looking better and better each time I see them. From the address pics I've seen so far, they kinda remind me of the AP2 712 irons... similar looking topline and offset to my eye. IMO the AP2 712's were the best AP2's made.

I have to say I like the design of the AP3s a modern clean yet interesting look. I would have to see how big and chunky they look in person before I could decide. I will keep an eye for reviews I hope you get to review an entire set not just long irons. Do we know where they transition from hollow to solid heads?

Hollow to solid heads? I wasn't aware the AP3's were designed that way... What makes you think that?

I've not played Titleist since DCI Black and I'm really looking forward to the AP3.
