I’m surprised no-one mentioned his obviously custom ground 46 degree wedge. New lowest standard bounce in the 46 degree SM7 wedge is the F grind with 10 degrees of bounce.

 

From the pictures... Spieth has what looks like a hand stamped “8” with no Grind letter stamped in. Perhaps he had them create a custom wedge to stick to his standard 46 degree loft, F Grind, with 8 degrees of bounce? (I believe he has been playing that spec for awhile in his 46 degree wedge.)

 

I’m curious to see if 8 degrees of bounce comes up as a custom bounce option on Vokey wedgeworks. I’d like to avoid going with 10 degrees of bounce myself.

I've never really gone through all the WITB posts before, but I have gone through most of these today.

 

Does nobody play the standard PW that comes with the iron sets?! Seems like everybody is using a 46º that matches their wedge sets, instead of a 46º PW that comes with their iron sets.

 

This is just my personal experience, but I have noticed upon switching from a Players Cavity PW to the Raw Vokey SM6 and have found great results. I personally have found that the feedback on mishits has actually improved my PW game, and would definitely recommend this option for anyone who strikes it relatively well to help dial in the wedge game. For reference I go 47, 52, 57, 61, and have found great results with that gapping versus some of the 44-46* PW's we continue to see these days. Hope this helps.

 

The Vokey 46* wedges are less forgiving, but provide better spin and grinds for around the green. It's not a big enough difference for me to feel and need on the courses that I play, but I'm not surprised that the PGA pros can.

I think the 3 iron has the GD shaft and the 4 iron has the same shaft as the rest of his irons.

Finally decided to update the putter grip. Even though I thought the ripped up one matched the wear of the putter

 

I think he puts a new one on at the beginning of each season and plays it through the year.

 

New grip, re-shaft, L&L check ...had it done here in DFW at SPG.

that putter patina is...well, other than downright sexy -- looks like he dipped it in chocolate then wiped the bottom. just gorgeous.

 

Yes, looks amazing. It's an oilcan finish. Under the oilcan finish more than likely raw carbon steel. I have one very that is very similar.

As I watch him this morning on PGA Tour live drive the ball quite poorly why is he still using the 915? I don't think there's another Titleist pro doing that right now.

he's do well with any tools, any wedge 'grinds' and any decent ball.

Seems like there is a few still using the 915F and Fd but you are right, I can't think of anyone still bagging a 915D. Rafa Cabrera Bello still has a 913D in the bag though.

Has anyone tried the Super Stroke grips on their irons, It is obvious tha Jordan uses them and Sergio. I have looked at them at GG, I just have not pulled the trigger. Any ideas about these grips?

 

they are very tacky and great grips. I tried them towards the end of the year. So for the 10 rounds they are great bang for the buck

I fit for Titleist and not one time have I seen a 915 beat a 917. I can't believe he still plays 915! I guess he knows what works for him and that's why he's Jordan making bank and I'm just fitting people!

Id guess he doesn’t like the head shape of the 917. It’s a lot different than the 915. Only performance advantage to me would be the weight system if he made that switch.

Similar to guys who go x100 to s400 in wedges. You arent swinging fully as often and you can generate more spin with the softer flex.

It's a 3x black oxide finish that has worn completely off and rusted over the years, not oil can. This has been well documented and discussed on here.
