That was the worst marketing campaign for TM I have seen. "That was Rocketballszier". Really?

 

I didn’t mind the name. The problem was that the 17 yards were way overblown.

This is purely anecdotal, but I've had a number of friends contact me this week wanting to talk about Rickie's ball switch. All of them are long time Pro V1/V1x die hards. Two years of me talking about the ball with them meant absolutely nothing, but 54 holes from Rickie has them considering a ball switch.

 

Yeah...it's a big deal.

The only specific yardage claim I can remember was the +17 yards for the RBZ2 3 wood which I think was a fairly just claim

That’s all I remember. Since that it’s been no different than any other company claiming more distance or more speed.

 

Callaway claimed 2 extra clubs with a set of irons before they had to back track the add and then add the caveat of against their own older irons.

I saw the TP5X commercial with Rickie at least 5 times over the weekend. To any kids or big Rickie fan bois, it could convince them to switch. Especially after he won.

When first released (2013?) Callaway claimed their new XHot fairway wood was 32 yards longer from the fairway and 31 yards longer off the tee. The fine print was comparing it against the Diablo Octane line.

TM claimed the original RBZ was 17 yards longer. They claimed another 10 yards with the RBZ2 line. With the original RBZ the fine print from TM was 17 yards longer by a better player claim against the Burner 11 fairway with robot testing at 150 mph ball speed, total distance.
