I don't worry about "tone" online. One thing I've learnt is that no matter how you think you say something, no matter if 100 people read it one way, there's someone who is going to read it a different way. @cydiego36 ANYWAY. . .most of us have played together 1 time in the last 3 months, so guys are going to do that with who they know.
AND, we have a separate email list for members of the Hive.
So a lot is getting filled. Some of these foursomes guys are recapping are getting filled through that.
when I'm putting together a foursome, it usually goes, "the three guys I normally play with THEN members at the club THEN the Hive then HERE."
THAT SAID. . .lots of guys in this thread didn't know anyone when they showed up and now they're playing on the regular. Just gotta stick around. Covid has played havoc with the Hive schedule, but that's going to get up and running pretty soon and those are open events.
And, yes, we treat it like a golf diary. You are welcome to do so also.

Had one at Whiskey creek years ago. We were watching a cooking show and saw some.

Definitely need to soft boil the egg.

Remote work just got extended through LABOR DAY. JFC. At least it shortens the afternoon drive to the club I guess.

I hope you didn't stink up the house frying those scotch eggs Tex.

I discovered scotch eggs (or Scottish eggs, whichever you want to call them) watching a British show on Netflix a few years ago. I love eggs, sausage, and most things fried so they were right up my alley. I made them (and they were excellent) but the whole house smelled like fried food so my wife was not happy. I've been banned from making them in the house again. I should probably buy a turkey fryer so I can make some more.

Yes. Not my whole company though, just technical backoffice functions like engineering and others who work in the dense cubicle areas. For the essential folks who do have to go in, it's too risky for them to be exposed to the others. Last week there were 4 confirmed cases in my building and a bunch of people got told to self quarantine.

Man I came here to ask a golf question and am now in desperate need of a steak and some burnt ends!!

Anyone been out to blue mash since the restart? I read the Worthington recaps and sounds like its in solid shape, but my group is hellbent on blue mash (which i really like, just curious how its looking!) Thanks in advance

Love me some Blue Mash. I haven't been back since the reopen but I'd honestly just call and ask when they aerated. If it was longer than 2 weeks ago, it's hard to imagine that the course would be in bad shape. Played BM earlier this year (in February? March? Shutdown has fried my sense o time, I honestly can't remember) and thought it was in very good for the time of the year. If they haven't been able to cut the rough yet due to all the rain, be prepared to lose balls you ought to find.

Thanks, that is a great call, I will give them a ring tomorrow. I played there in late October and they hadn't been able to cut in a bit, so I have (too much) experience with that happening there! First round since January this weekend, I wouldn't mind if the course beats me up, I can blame it on that rather than my lack ok skill :)

we're, currently, WAH through May.

This MIGHT -- i say MIGHT -- lead to some sort of life change. I'm really enjoying not having a commute and the things that go along with that. I don't know what I'll do if work says I can't continue to WAH.

We played yesterday. I've kind of been trying to force things since the comeback so yesterday I was just like, "don't over think. Middle of the green. Don't push. Just get back to swinging and then we'll worry about scoring."

So, we start on 10. I airmail the first green. Second hole, I'm middle of the fairway. Put a nice free swing on it, hook it OB left. Next hole, middle of the fairway, 120 in. Shank.

Everyone's got a plan till they get punched in the d 1 c K.

Played the front well coming in though. Guy I had a match against had to have made 120 feet of putts. It was VERY frustrating but we ended up square somehow. My up and down game was kinda sick though. Something to grow on.

Getting the smoker fired up this morning, go to pull out the pork butt and my wife actually bought a 6 lb pork loin which immediately fell into two halves. Dont think its going to be ideal for pulled pork but slather it in rub and throw it on there, see what happens.

Has anyone here bought one of those Masterclass subscriptions? Have seen a couple extended commercials now for some chefs that are on there and just wondering if its worth the cost or not. Its definitely not cheap.

I hope it does, or at least a change in workplace culture. Treating people less like untrustworthy sardines who need to cram in a sterile building for 8-10 hours a day in uncomfortable work stations, perhaps. This experience alone should be enough to convince the older or hard-line managers who think people work from home to just slack off. My team still needs to go in to the building once a week or so to print construction drawings, but if guys with double monitor MicroStation setups don't need to be in the office all the time, pretty much everyone should be able to split their time between home and office.

I like the quiet of WFH and have a much, much better office setup at home, but physically I feel like someone has partially sedated me. There's a melted time loop where I just keep walking back and forth in the rooms of my house and it's screwed up my sleep schedule. Walks during the day help but I need some sort of change of scenery or routine to break up the monotony.

Masterclass is definitely some high quality content (it seems), but between YouTube and Cooking Channel that shit is covered. Food52 is a great cooking channel and a bit more in detail vs. Bon Appetit and Babish, etc.

Gordon Ramsay has a whole series on Prime so you can probably skip his masterclass and save some scratch. https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B07HY6TYTV/ref=atv_dp_share_cu_r

Jon Favreau has a show on netflix called The Chef Show from which you can definitely pick up some tricks.

Alternatively, you could just browse the masterclass contents and search youtube for an equivalent. For example, I'm certain there's a billion videos on knife skills or beef wellington.

To your second paragraph about the melted time loop. Non-normative time is traumatic and will mess someone up particularly if they haven't experienced (and built up defense mechanisms for) prolonged and open ended stressors. It's likely a factor in why so many people are flipping out right now. It's definitely why we constantly hear people talking about brain fog, trouble being productive, screwed up sleep cycles, etc... https://www.wbur.org/cognoscenti/2020/04/22/cognitive-change-stress-coronavirus-molly-colvin

Pork as it was going on - actually been on for two hours by now.
