The Vokey V grind had a lot of bounce, near 14-16. But it played with an effective bounce that was much less, around 10 or so due to the grind.

I haven't held one of the Tour Grinds yet, but from pics and specs they seem more like a T or L grind from Vokey. For the slider.

As long as they can get me a reasonable swingweight at +3/4" I'm sold.

The shape sounds great, the X-Forged were terrific.

Now will they eventually offer other grinds in this shape? I'm not a C-Grind player.

Our rep. Let me play with a couple that he had. They are a very good wedge. The bounce and grind seems excellent for virtually all conditions. One of the easier wedges to hit out of all sand conditions. After using these I can not figure out why Phil continues to use that ping L wedge. These are much better in all conditions (yes I have ping S and L BeCu and S and L in the XG series)... Will be benching the SM5 s..

My order is in but they can't sell them until 7/18.. Thanks to this thread I didn't order them with that puke yellow grip...

54* and 58* with Nippon pro modus 130 shafts. Can not wait.

If you're into Nippon shafts, I wouldn't be afraid to test out their WV wedge shaft. It's solid, I've been a really, really big fan of them since I put them in. 115g in the 52 and 125g in the 58.

I'll definitely look into it! The Pro 130's are on their website for a small upgrade fee, so i'm probably going with those and will seek out some WV's for install later.

This is my take. Both the regular MD2 and Tour Grind have C grind, but the Tour Grind has a slightly different shape head.

Both the regular SM5 and TVD have M grind, but the TVD has a slightly different shape head.

Is this right?

Is this right?

The C-grind on the Tour is different from the standard C grind, I thought. From the pictures, the Tour version has less curvature in the "C" and the lowest point of the sole appears to protrude more, hence the comparison to the V grind, while the standard C-grind appears effectively wider and flatter. These pictures probably describe it better than I can.

The other thing to remember is that the leading edge on the Tour Grinds are a bit straighter than the regulare MD2's

Just a heads up, if anyone is planning on ordering these anywhere near over length, you are going to have a really challenging time accomplishing a reasonable swingweight. My clubmaker just mocked up my wedges and I have pretty standard build specs that are anywhere from +1/8 to +1/4" over standard and with S400 shafts my swingweights were D9. Waaaayyy too heavy. They have to have lighter heads on the van to accommodate longer builds for the tour players.

The issue is that Callaway stock lengths are a bit weird (35.125" on the lobs, 35.25" on the sand, and 35.375" on the 52) and the swingweights with S300 stock shafts are basically D4. I play 35.25" lob, 35.50" sand, and 35.75" gap which should really be no more than +1/4" over standard with most manufacturers but with Callaway it's an inconsistent step.

We are going to end up porting the wedges and getting the headweights somewhere near reasonable, but if you are ordering these direct from Callaway I guarantee anything over length will come extremely heavy.

Having them ported is the way to go. Almost any wedge built over length OTR is going to have a really heavy swingweight, because otherwise the stock SW would be like D1. Plus, lets be honest, the porting looks sweet...

Good to know D. I will be +1/2".... So even w/out the typical shaft weights, they come up heavy, huh?

Dang it.

If anyone figures out how to properly get the swing weight anywhere near proper... Please pass the info on.

Good to know. I ordered at +1/4" but with the same KBS Tour V wedges I'm playing in my current Apex Pros and MD2 wedges. Hopefully that will end up offsetting some of the SW with the lighter shaft. I actually added a couple of lead tape strips to my current wedges.

Yes, ported looks awesome but more work for the club maker obviously!

At +1/2" there is no way you'll achieve anything reasonable without porting OR unless Callaway has lighter weight heads to support longer builds. My guess is they don't for custom retail. I'm sure they do on Tour.

Callaway is the only company I know of doing 1/8" steps between wedges which contributes to some of the issue. Even at +1/4" with KBS tour V depending on your grip I'm guessing you'll be in the D7 range.
