Well done DTown, porting looks great.
[/quote]

The crazy thing is in 24 hours they are already rusting! Love it. Obviously some people like the "look" of port holes but this was designed to be 100% functional and was necessary to remove weight and get the target swingweights achieved.

I was wondering how quickly it would take for them to rust up a bit, I didn't think a day and it would be that quick!

And yeah, I knew you had mentioned before this was something that needed to be done, just a benefit it looks solid too.

Just curious but who did you have do the ports? And does it do anything to the overall feel of the wedge? I really want these but I figure I'll have to go a similar route to get the SW I prefer.

I actually spoke with Callaway and it appears that their custom department should be able to hit various swingweight targets within reason. I think that the raw heads I received just happened to be heavier than normal, but it's what I had to work with. Sounds like they will have a variety of headweights though to accommodate different builds.

I have not hit them yet, but the feel should not be altered.

That would be great, I would think they could get close, I play mine +3/4" over with a shaft that is the same weight as stock but I'm usually at D5 (SW) and D6 (LW) so I would figure they would have to lose about 3-4 points somewhere. If that's true I'm hoping for the best when I order them. Not opposed to porting but it would nice to be able to avoid it.

I'm loving my MD2 54-14S on full shots and in the sand, but I think a 60 from this line is calling my name if for no other reason than I don't want to miss out on these.

I got to try them. Holy spin Batman! They sit dead flat open or closed. If they had had a 50 degree, I would have walked out with a set!

I just ordered mine. Got to try them!
The shape is great, I can't wait to see how the bounce works.

The stock grip looks cool. Almost a clear lime. Went with 2G though.

Picked up a 52 before the weekend and already got 2 rounds under the belt. I originally planned on a standard grind, but the T grind looked so nice in person I decided to try it out. With a 90 day exchange policy, It was an easy decision since I could swap it out if it didnt work for me. intentions were to go with a 52, 56, 60 setup....but may go with a 52/58 instead. The tour grind lets me play most of the same shots id play with a sand wedge, and still cover my yardage gap on full shots. My only complaint is the stock shaft length, and its swing weight if extended. All in all, this club has gotten me more excited then any other wedge recently. Even if the tour grind doesnt end up working out, im sold on the new md2 wedges.

D-

You got is all worried... Hahaha!

I placed my order for the 54" at +.5" and requested D4 this past week. Have to see how close they can get it....

I'll do a little "shoutout" with my 54S to see if it'll even make the "bag", as well.

Edit: Just now ordered the 58* at same specs (+.5, requested D4)...

How similar are the tour md 2s grind compared to the original Xforged mds with the C-grind?
Also, leading edge differences? I'm gaming the md1s still and haven't found anything better.

Thanks D!

Another round today and another great performance. These are deadly accurate and the grinds so superb. I chipped in an impossible downhill pitch out if thick rough. Hit numerous shots inside 5-6 feet even though I can't get off the tee to save my life....

Leading edge is straighter on these IMO and he grind is flatter with less bounce. I find it overall much more versatile.

I picked up a 58* Tour Grind on Friday and played my first round with it on Saturday. I've been playing regular MD2s for about 4 months. This club will replace my 58* U-Grind MD2. I got to the course about an hour early so I could practice with it before my round. I hit a variety of shots from just off the green out to about 50 yards, including some bunker shots.

I really like the way the straight leading edge looks at address. The T-Grind also make the leading edge sit closer to the ground. I felt that the T-Grind out-performed the U-Grind in every case. It worked great from tight lies, with no bouncing into the ball. Lob shots from the rough came out nicely and landed softly. One area where I was pleasantly surprised was in the bunker. I could never use the U-Grind from soft sand. The club would usually dig and distance was very inconsistent. The T-Grind performed great from both soft and firm sand.

On the course, the club worked great. I hit several low runners from just off the green, as well as a couple of lob shots that helped me save par. I really like the regular Mack Daddy 2 wedges, but I think I'm falling in love all over again. I may have to pick up a 56*, as well.
