In addition to the two sets of Honma TW717 irons, I also did a bit of Christmas splurging on this set of Fourteen TC888 iron heads.  These took a couple extra days to arrive from Japan, but gave me something to build over the New Year's weekend.

 

Decent overall shape, just needed a bit of cleaning in the ultrasonic machine, some repainting etc.  I've played them the past couple of morning, and really dig them.  They have a taller face height, but a fairly short blade length.  The sweet spot seems quite big for a compact cavity back iron.  Lovely feeling off the center, especially since I'm using Callaway Supersoft balls early morning when it is cold.  Still need to turn down the ferrules, I had removed my 1" sander off the bench last week and didn't get around to remounting it.

$190 CAD for a set of S58’s red dot 5-P with standard length ZZ65’s (my ideal Ping specs). After a long Dawn soak, a tooth brush scrub, some Goo Gone to old shaft labels and a regrip with what I had in the work bench, these cleaned up well. May hit ‘em with the polish wheel this weekend. Early SIM numbers are legit.

Bit late posting these, but got a new putter and some new irons!

 

First the putter, custom from Tyler Lowy. Couldn’t recommend working with him enough if you want something truly custom and unique!

The irons for this year are Mizuno Craft Model 911, built them myself with BB&F ferrules, DG TI x100 soft stepped, and Sugarloaf cords. Had them out for a few rounds and so far so good, really liking the reverse offset progression but the 3i with no offset is a tough one!

 

Also a new to me SM7 60M, gonna try some custom grinding on my old 60, mainly leading edge relief.

A friend on Instagram was selling them, they’re in amazing shape and thought they would be a fun project, so I scooped them up. Don’t think I fully realized at the time how rare/special these irons are, have been doing as much reading as I can on them.

No, I actually just bought my first Nike club a couple of months ago. It was Nike Method putter that I refinished/customized, and I’m absolutely loving!

 

Since I bought that, I started doing more research on Nike equipment, and was curious about what other Nike gear was ahead of it’s time.

 

I actually have all Callaway Woods (Paradym X Driver & 3W, and Rogue ST Max 4H), so I’ve had good experiences with Callaway too!

 

Really, I’ll play whatever works best for my game (and what I enjoy looking at)! 😎👌🏽

Always enjoy to see what u play next and always impressed that you have done it without accumulating too much gear…are u able to get rid of all ur old stuff each time before you move to the next?

Yeah, I always sell the stuff that I decide not to keep in the bag.

 

Right now I have 2 Drivers, 2 putters, 3 sets of Irons, and just 1 set of wedges.

 

Whatever won’t be in my 2024 bag will get sold by Springtime.

 

My wife and I are both neat freaks and hate clutter, so I definitely can’t relate to some of the WRX’rs that have like 10+ bags, and huge collections of stuff.

Got a new paradym 21* hybrid today at the golf town demo sale. They had a banged up head on a project x silver 6.0 75g shaft but said I wasn’t sure about the head so they found a head still in the plastic and slapped it on the project x shaft for me. Unreal deal compared to new, and is new to me. I’ve gotten my driver, irons, this hybrid and a 60* on demo sales this year all still in the plastic. As a lefty I consider myself super lucky for finds this year lol going to try this hybrid set to 22* to replace my 4i, my old Nike only went to 21 and was a touch too long for my gapping.

Ones “Ping card” allows one to conger up odd combo sets without penalty or ridicule. Love the G25. They smooth into target short irons (S58) very well actually.

Fresh out of the DHL Box, via Japan.  Ordered Thursday, arrived Monday.  

 

PRGR 900MD Forged iron heads, 4-PW.  Pretty clean overall, with usual bag chatter, but very clean faces and sole.  I'm digging the almost Srixon like slight V-sole shape, with the beveled leading edge.  I traced the head shape compared to a small Mizuno MP-14, as I like to get a reference for overall size.  Not a very big head.  

 

One thing I'll note on many of the recent sets of Honma, Maruman, and now these PRGR heads, is they are fairly light.  7-irons come in at 264-267g.  Many other 7-iron heads I've built up tend to be in the 270-274g range.  I tend to build irons 1/2" to 3/4" longer for my 6'-1" height, and these have been great because they let me keep a fairly light D1.5-2.0 SW.
