Nice.  Every Sansui receiver I've ever seen were of a "robust" size.  As in they were always huge.  

 

Parasound.  Good gear.  Especially noted for the John Curl designed power amps.  Used late 90's Parasound AVC-2500 pre/pro and HCA 1205A in a HT setup for a number of years.  Only replaced when I wanted to  "modernize" with video processing, HDMI switching, WiFi for streaming, and to simplify the setup by minimizing the cabling.  NTM, something the Mrs. could turn on and use without my assistance.  Compromising (separates sound better??), replaced with a Marantz SR7012 "one box" receiver.  She can now turn it on but still can't figure out how to turn the input selector knob.  Sold off the Parasound.  Realizing decent money for the amp.

My classic, circa mid-70's, stereo rig.  Marantz 2275 receiver.  Rectilinear IIIa speakers (4-way floor standers).  Dual 1219 platter with Shure V15 Type III cartridge.  Could rock the house with that setup.  Subsequently added a Teac 450 cassette deck to take the tunes mobile.  After ~10 years, my house broken into and it was all stolen.  Sure wish I still had the Marantz .  That receiver has reached iconic status, much sought after in the vintage audio equipment market.  Easily worth 3x what it cost new.  Maybe more if it's been certified inspected to spec, recapped.  

 

Still drifting afar from "No new acquisitions?" classic golf gear.

You may already be aware.  This Bullseye is from 1996.  The SC in the center is for Scotty Cameron.  A heavier head than Acushnet/Reuter Bullseyes of similar design.  A pic of the still intact grip cover with marketing verbiage.  Was a cheap estate sale find.  While a nice putter, was rather quickly liquidated to the SC fanboys.  If I'm going to mess around putting with a Bullseye, do it with a Reuter original.

Vintage audio equipment is appealing.  And if the gear still sounds good, all the better.  But one primary issue to be aware of with older receivers/amps is the possibility the capacitors have degraded.  If one hears a buzz/hum through the speakers, the caps are suspect.  Especially in the amp circuits (heat).  They do have a shelf life of 30-40 years depending.  An issue that I discovered when I found a cheap circa late 70's receiver.  The buzzing was more than annoying and rendered the equipment useless.  YMMV.

It doesnt render it useless, you jsut have to find somebody to do a good cleaning of it and resoder the stuff, that is most of it when it heats up it breaks the soder up and the connection is bad, for about 40 bucks I can get that taken care of if it is a problem

And The beat Goes On---- One of the 4 cylinder race cars I built and ran I had a cam custom ground for along with a custom header I built. That engine had a peculiar "thump" to it compared to others and sounded wicked. We called that engine "Thumper". LOL had a guy make a engraved plate we epoxied on the valve cover "And The Thump Thumps On". Messed with that motor on and off and basically could not get the performance overall out of it to match the sound but it was fun. One of those experimental things like the 2 full staff bags I have of experiments that went wrong on the golf club end

After a acquiring a few odds and ends of Hogan irons, I finally found nearly a complete set of White Cameo Apex IIs at Goodwill. 3-9 with original grips on Apex 4 shafts. Serial No. is F03242. Added a 2(white) and E(black) from the Bay and an old staff bag from Marketplace. Speed Slot 4 wood is an earlier Goodwill find. They look great and I will clean up the grips, still playable, and replace the grips on the 2, E and 4 wood. We will see how they hit. They might bump my Mizuno Mp-14s out of my gamer bag.

Hey, I found that same bag locally!  Only problem is, the long zipper on the "front" of the bag is stuck - won't go up or down.  Got any pointers for loosening a stuck zipper like that?

Spray it down with WD-40 if that does not work and listen carefully----- Soak a Q Tip down with PB Blaster and apply. The reason for not spraying PB Blaster is if it gets on the fabric it may stain it orange or brown. You may have to do the WD 40 thing a few times and let sit before using Blaster.

I was messing around in the shop the other day and I knew I had both a Hogan Special K grind 51 and 56. I had found 2 of the 51s finally found the 56. Also found a Special SI. Put the matched pair in the new Vintage set with the Muirfields. The Special SI you have those things will basically get a ball up out of any trap or long grass lie. I have always liked Hogan wedges even though I am a dyed in the wool Macgregor man

I need another set of these like a hole in the head but saw them listed and they turned out to be in a lot nicer shape than the photos.  I gave them a quick paint fill and just treated the grips.

Thought I'd let you know - I put the clubs and bag in the trunk of the car (you know, for golf purposes), and the heat inside there relaxed the pleather enough so that the zipper opened up nicely.  Now, moving onward, I gotta keep this silly b**** zipping up and down cleanly...

Just picked up some Mizuno Persimmons that were never used and a like new set of Wilson staff irons.  Had KBS in Carlsbad do a retro-build with new shafts and BB&F ferrules. 👍🏻

I inquired with BBFco and they said they could do it but said it would be VERY expensive.  I’d still buy them.

I'm trying so hard to stop buying clubs. I saw this matching set of all original irons and woods 10 minutes away, decided I couldn't take on another set, then bought them for a friend. Once I had the woods in my hands, I fell in love. He asked if I would consider just sending the irons to him and keeping the woods, and now here I am, another set of Armour woods in I can't believe they are so original shape. Now I have sets of '58 SS1W and '59 SS2W, both in pristine original shape.

 

Oh well, some other stuff going to eBay today to make room.

Same here! And as I said there, that driver face is DEEP. I have the driver, 3 and 4 woods of the Tourney version of that model (PT1W). Had the 2 wood as well but swapped it for a set of Dunlop Maxfli DP-30 pro model iron heads...

Picked up this Ben Hogan by Burton bag for 1/2 off at Goodwill today. Anyone know the vintage of it? I love these older bags. Should clean up nice and it will look even better with my Cameo's or 73' Apex I just acquired.

Mid to late 1950's to very early 1960's.  AMF purchased Hogan in late 1960 and I don't think Burton made bags for Hogan after that.  Very cool.

It comes in waves. After a very sparse few months, I seem to be finding a lot of clubs in a short amount of time. Yesterday it was a full set of M85s with a very clean driver. They have been painted black, but they don't have any wear damage, I can't see any cracks or chips, and I don't think they have ever been sanded. They have original shafts but the molded on grips are gone. I hope the black paint comes off.

As a bonus, it was a bit of a drive to get to these and the way home brought me by thrift store that has been good to me every once and a while and another that has not only never yielded a club, but also rarely has more than 5-10 crappy clubs back in a corner. I decided to hit the first but skip the second. The first one was a bust, but I got into a conversation with a guy as we sorted through the barrel, and when I told him I was looking for persimmon he said "we just came from the Thorten store and they had some of that Parsimmon." I had the time, changed my mind and took that way home to check it out, and much to my surprise, found 2/3/4 M85 SEOMs. Its a nice day when you come home with two different sets of 50s lumber.
